Yu Lian was undoubtedly pleased to hear about leaving, yet she could not depart just yet. She still hadn’t fully won over Bai Lingyi; how could she possibly leave at this point?
Therefore…
“I apologize, Yixiya, but I don’t wish to leave right now.”
Yu Lian politely declined Yixiya’s offer.
Yixiya was greatly puzzled. Then, as if a thought struck her, she widened her eyes and exclaimed, “You don’t want to leave? Why? Could it be that you want to stay by Muya’s side? Have you truly fallen for Muya?”
Noticing the signs of her emotions beginning to fluctuate, Yu Lian quickly waved her hands in explanation. “No, don’t get excited. Calm your mind and thoughts; don’t overthink it. I’m not trying to compete with you for the Second Young Miss.”
The ominous black aura that had been on the verge of manifesting above Yixiya’s head dissipated. Yu Lian breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this. To be frank, if the black aura had appeared, she knew she wouldn’t be far from a beating. She truly feared that omen.
Yixiya’s hand, which had been reaching into her pocket for scissors, paused. She pressed her lips together and asked, “Then tell me why you’re refusing to leave. Let me warn you, if you’re lying to me, I’ll… I’ll snip you.”
Her feigned fierceness, to Yu Lian, was no different from a toothless tiger. It looked rather endearing. She actually found this side of Yixiya quite agreeable; of course, she had no peculiar interest in being abused, but she simply felt that such a person was genuine and easy to get along with.
“I cannot reveal the specific reason for now. However, rest assured, I won’t snatch the Second Young Miss from you. I swear to the heavens on this point, otherwise, may I be struck by thunder—”
Crack!
Just as her fingers formed a swearing gesture, and before she could even finish her sentence, a colossal roar of thunder erupted from above the house. The sound was so immense that her very skin trembled with it, and Yu Lian’s heart abruptly seized.
‘Are you playing with me, Old Man Heaven?’
‘Who did I offend? It was just an oath, and a sincere one at that. I truly have no special feelings for the Second Young Miss, so why did the thunder actually strike?’
“Then…”
“What then, Yixiya? You… you listen to me. Don’t laugh yet; your smile is making me terribly afraid.”
Yu Lian felt a chill run through her, her back slick with cold sweat. She watched Yixiya’s eerie smile as she slowly, inch by inch, moved closer by shifting her hips, her hand still rummaging in her pocket for the scissors that could end Yu Lian’s life.
“At this point, what more is there to explain?”
“You’re just one way on the surface and another behind my back, trying to monopolize Muya. I truly misjudged you.”
The black aura reappeared.
Though not abundant, it was enough to be lethal.
Yu Lian was once again pinned to the bed, but this time, after only a moment of fear, she calmed down. She neither struggled nor resisted, her eyes fixed on Yixiya, who was straddling her.
“Yixiya, this kind of joke isn’t funny. If you’ve stabilized your emotions, could you please get off me?”
That’s right, Yixiya was feigning this entire act.
As for why Yu Lian was so certain, it was because she had seen the black aura vanish. It had appeared quickly this time but had dissipated just as swiftly.
It had completed its appearance and disappearance in the blink of an eye.
“You think I’m joking with you?”
Yixiya pulled the scissors from her pocket, intending to plunge them forcefully into the bedsheet. However, just as the scissors were about to touch the fabric, she hesitated, forcefully halting her downward momentum.
‘I can’t ruin the bedsheets again, or the maids will notice something amiss and report it truthfully to Muya.’
She exhaled, her small mouth pouting slightly. “How did you figure it out? This isn’t fun at all.”
“If you, Yixiya, had truly entered that state again, you would have been even more deranged than before, coming straight for my life. I didn’t see any loss of reason in your eyes; instead, there was a playful mockery, as if you wanted to see me make a fool of myself.”
“You observe quite meticulously, don’t you?”
Yu Lian coughed, her face betraying no flush. These were all fabrications; if she hadn’t been able to perceive the black aura, she would have long since panicked and wouldn’t have been so composed.
Fortunately, Yixiya didn’t detect anything unusual and believed her.
“So, Yixiya, aren’t you ashamed to be sitting so delicately on my stomach? I recall that you value your chastity greatly and even have a certain obsession with purity. To be in such intimate contact with me…”
Yu Lian suddenly felt a warmth on her stomach.
‘It must be her imagination.’
Only then did Yixiya react, letting out a surprised “Ah!” as she jumped away. She clutched her flushed, somewhat pale face and cried, “You, you, you’re not allowed to tell anyone, especially not Muya! Otherwise, you’ll see what’s coming to you!”
‘Is she trying to bury her head in the sand?’
Yu Lian found it inexplicably amusing. ‘You’ve sat on my stomach several times now; if I hadn’t said anything, wouldn’t you have never realized it? She really is a cute, naive sweetheart, though it would be even better if she didn’t try to kill me so often.’
“Alright, alright, I won’t say anything. Nothing happened just now. You never sat on my stomach, never.”
“You, you, you, you—you’re still talking!”
Yixiya’s face turned from white to red with anger. Then, she opened her mouth and pounced, biting down on Yu Lian’s fair right shoulder, which had unknowingly slipped out.
“Hiss! Hey, are you a dog? Let go, quickly let go! You’re hurting me!” Yu Lian pushed the person in her arms, pressing the other’s head upward with her hand, but her strength was too little to push them away. Moreover, her strength gradually faded under the other’s gnawing, and a strange sensation surged from her heart, spreading throughout her limbs and body.
“Ying~”
Yu Lian’s eyes were teary.
Her mouth involuntarily opened.
It was painful, yet numb, like her nerves were malfunctioning. This pain and numbness, however, made her feel incredibly comfortable and exhilarated, a sweet hum uncontrollably escaping her throat.
Yixiya snapped back to her senses upon hearing the sound, recovering from her anger-fueled state. She let go and then noticed the metallic taste of blood in her mouth. She lowered her head to look.
It was bleeding.
On that fair right shoulder was a very clear bite mark, the shape of her teeth, perfectly neat.
As she wiped away the blood flowing from the bite wound on Yu Lian’s right shoulder, a deep sense of guilt blossomed within her. She had gone too far in her momentary anger. Indeed, her emotions were her greatest enemy at present.
“I’m sorry, I hurt you.”
“Ah-hoo-hoo-umm~”
Yu Lian’s eyes rolled back unconsciously.
Yixiya carefully applied medicine to her wound before looking up at Yu Lian’s current appearance. She had been curious and puzzled before: why did Yu Lian make such a blush-inducing sound when she bit her?
‘Oh~ So Yu Lian is actually a—’
Yixiya experienced a moment of profound realization.
‘No wonder…’
‘No wonder it’s like this,’ she finally understood.
‘Such a person is indeed very suitable as a partner. There are many positions that can be unlocked at night; it’s especially interesting. Could it be that Muya chose her because she saw this point?’
Yixiya mused silently.
‘It must be. My aggressive approach was probably why Muya didn’t choose me. Otherwise, where am I inferior to Yu Lian? As for breasts, cough, although I’m indeed not as well-endowed in that area, I still have some. As for other aspects, I’m definitely superior.’
‘Perhaps…’
‘I should try to change my personality?’
