Fully Resurrected

Chapter 91,433 words12 min read

Inside the Dream Evaluation Room, Xu Feng sat on her small chair, hands pressed against her lower abdomen. Her face was pale, her lips pulled tight between her teeth, her expression clearly masking some internal struggle.

In front of her sat two evaluators wearing blue uniforms with gold medals. As they looked at each other, they couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pity for such a young child suffering through Dream-morphosis. More importantly, they were struck by how well-behaved she was. They had told her she couldn’t leave until the investigation was complete, and she had remained dutifully in her seat, not making a single peep despite being in enough pain to turn her face white.

The female evaluator was the first to stand up, calling out to Uncle Shui, who was waiting outside the window for the results.

“Uncle Shui, come check on this child. Her stomach is hurting.”

“What? Stomach pain?” Uncle Shui rushed in, crouching down to observe Xu Feng. She was in so much pain that sweat was beading on her forehead.

“What happened?” Uncle Shui pulled a phone from his belt, dialed a few numbers, and spoke urgently to the person on the other end.

“Uncle Shui, maybe you should just take her to the infirmary,” the female evaluator suggested, unable to bear seeing a child suffer. She wanted her treated immediately.

However, Uncle Shui didn’t agree. He simply used a tissue to wipe the sweat from Xu Feng’s brow while looking anxiously toward the door.

The female evaluator looked at her male colleague, hoping he would help persuade Uncle Shui.

“Even if she’s treated, it has to be done inside this room,” the male evaluator said. Though he hated seeing it too, his voice was firm. “Dream-morphed individuals are too unpredictable. If we don’t ensure everything is perfectly secure, we can’t take responsibility for what might happen.” He couldn’t go against the protocol; he had seen accidents happen before.

“Ugh! How can we have such rigid rules? People’s lives are at stake!” The female evaluator slammed her hand on the table in frustration.

A few minutes later, the sound of hurried footsteps finally echoed down the hall.

A white-haired old doctor carrying a medical bag entered the room. Seeing Uncle Shui and Xu Feng, he quickly knelt down and checked the girl’s complexion.

“Where exactly does it hurt?” the old doctor asked.

“Right… here…” Xu Feng was too weak to speak clearly, her finger pressing just above her navel.

“Good girl, hang in there. We’ll have you fixed up in no time.”

The doctor opened his bag, but it contained no modern instruments. Instead, it was filled with a collection of talismans inscribed with different colored inks and various medicinal vials. He pulled out two green talismans, uncapped a bottle to drop a single bead of red liquid onto each, and skillfully slapped them onto Xu Feng’s forehead and stomach.

“Expel the evil, cast out the ailment, restore the life of the living!” the old doctor chanted. The talismans began to glow with red and green light before bursting into flames—flames that were red on the outside and green within. The fire passed through Xu Feng’s skin, gradually merging into her body.

“Nn…” Xu Feng was gritting her teeth to endure the sensation when, suddenly, the sharp pain in her stomach plummeted. Within seconds, the source of the agony had vanished completely.

It’s gone? Xu Feng rubbed her belly.

“It’s magic… it doesn’t hurt anymore.” Xu Feng opened her eyes and blinked at the old doctor. He was wearing a standard white lab coat, but his medical techniques were more like those of a spell-casting Taoist priest.

“Much appreciated, Doctor Daoyan. I’ll buy you a drink later,” Uncle Shui said, finally letting out a sigh of relief and smiling at the old man.

“Xiao Shui, it’s a small matter. Just focus on her case.” Doctor Daoyan packed his bag, but as he stood up, his phone buzzed inside his lab coat. He answered it and immediately prepared to rush off again.

“Thank you, Doctor Daoyan… You’re a saint!” Xu Feng called out to show her gratitude. Daoyan turned back, a kind, wrinkled smile spreading across his face.

“Little girl, watch what you eat next time.”

“I will!” Xu Feng nodded emphatically.

Daoyan closed the door and left in a hurry. Dragging his medical bag behind him as he ran, he seemed to be the busiest person in the entire Dream-Guard Bureau.

“Let’s continue the questioning,” Uncle Shui said to the two evaluators, seeing that Xu Feng had recovered.

The evaluation process moved quite quickly. Uncle Shui received a form containing Xu Feng’s results, and he sat down with her to look over it.

Comprehensive Hazard Rating: Harmless. Requirements: Periodic supply of 100cc of healthy blood. Special Abilities: Provisionally classified as Flight; Potential Strength Enhancement exists, but trigger conditions are unknown. Notes: Dream-morphed traits can be hidden voluntarily or through a Dream-Suppressor. Final Placement Recommendation: Self-determined.

Uncle Shui let out a long breath as he read the final line.

Xu Feng rested her chin on her folded fists and whispered to Uncle Shui, “Uncle Shui, ‘self-determined’… does that mean I can go home?”

“Yes. Not only can you go back, but you can come visit as well—just give us a heads-up first. I’ll go grab your blood packs.” Uncle Shui handed the form to Xu Feng and stood up.

“I’m coming too!” Xu Feng jumped up to follow him. Because of her height, she had to hop down from the chair first.

They walked for a bit before Uncle Shui remembered something and began to give her instructions.

“The blood packs will be specially formulated. Just keep them hidden at home. If you run out, contact me. Try your best not to expose your race to others—you should be able to manage that, right?” As he spoke, Uncle Shui looked back, only to find Xu Feng happily skipping along, carefully stepping exactly into his footprints.

This kid… heh.

Uncle Shui smiled faintly, his expression looking as though he were reminiscing about someone.

Xu Feng looked up and realized Uncle Shui was watching her. She instantly stood bolt upright, not daring to show another ounce of playfulness.

My god! What was I just doing?

Xu Feng was in a state of internal chaos. The influence of this body was far too powerful! The moment she felt a little bit of joy, her personality was completely subverted!

“Haha… Uncle Shui, this kid is so cute! Skipping along behind you like a little white keychain,” a passerby remarked. Uncle Shui only responded with a smile.

Who are you calling a keychain?!

Xu Feng protested inwardly with every fiber of her being, but her face was flushed bright red.

For the rest of the walk to fetch the blood packs, Xu Feng was much more subdued and well-behaved. She constantly suppressed that “little flower of playfulness” in her heart, desperate to maintain what little remained of her original persona.

After collecting the blood packs and completing the paperwork, Xu Feng was officially allowed to leave the Bureau.

Through the same magic-circle platform they had arrived on, Xu Feng and Uncle Shui were transported back to the entrance of Honest Intentions Co., Ltd. and climbed back into the sedan.

Before starting the car, Uncle Shui handed Xu Feng a brand-new smartphone.

“This phone has been set up as a communicator. It has my number and the group files sent by the Bureau. You can look through them when you get home to learn more; it’ll be helpful for you.”

“Oh, sweet!” Xu Feng toyed with the new phone. The startup screen was unique, taking her directly to the home screen. As for apps, she searched around and found only two: the Dialer and a Folder.

“The phone has been specially modified. Given your age, I’ve only kept those two functions,” Uncle Shui explained.

“Oh…” Xu Feng put the phone away. Then, from another bag, she pulled out a small blood pack.

The pack was shaped like a squeeze-pouch for jelly. Xu Feng unscrewed the cap, licked her teeth and lips, and took a deep, satisfying suck.

The moment the blood hit her tongue, a sweet sensation flooded every cell in her body. They seemed to cheer in unison, bursting with invincible energy.

Full Health Restored!

Xu Feng suddenly felt her entire body surging with immense strength—she felt like she could pick up a steamroller without breaking a sweat!
