The Hunter’s Revelation

Chapter 221,231 words11 min read

Though feeling wronged, they kept silent about it.

In the end, the matter could only be left unresolved. After all, it wasn’t yet time for a full confrontation.

The true threat remained the unseen Hunter, lurking perpetually in the shadows.

Even so, this did not absolve the two supporting characters of their suspicion.

The most glaring consequence was their complete isolation; already given the cold shoulder by everyone, they were now utterly ostracized. Even the blue-haired young man couldn’t be bothered with them.

Aware of the heavy suspicion hanging over them, they simply huddled together for warmth, wisely keeping their distance from the others.

“Xia Lingxue, what do you think of those two? Any issues?” Gu Changqing asked, his gaze fixed on the pair not far away.

Just before their eyes could meet his, he shifted his focus, pretending as if nothing had happened as he chatted with Xiang Qi.

“They’re definitely hiding something, but it’s not a major problem.” Xiang Qi glanced at him, then returned to the unfinished task in her hands.

She was meticulously cutting some fabric, which she had previously asked Gu Changqing to bring back. With a snip-snip of her scissors, she sectioned the material and handed it over to Shu Xun.

With the mindset of conserving energy wherever possible, Xiang Qi entrusted anything not critical to the core plan to these two temporary teammates.

Meanwhile, she casually brushed off her hands, preparing to slip away and slack off for a bit.

Truth be told, although this body appeared delicate, its resilience was surprisingly good. Her current physical condition was even better than Xiang Qi had initially anticipated.

“Oh, right. Since you have nothing to do right now, why don’t you go see what the others are up to?” Xiang Qi waved her hand, gently nudging Gu Changqing, who was still curiously awaiting her answer, towards the living room doorway.

“Just wander around a bit. Don’t just stand here like a block of wood.”

Some things didn’t need to be explicitly stated. If her subordinates knew everything, what purpose would she, the decision-maker, serve?

“Go on! I have faith in you.”

Making a gesture, Xiang Qi ignored the twitching corner of a certain person’s mouth. She slammed the door shut with a bang, cutting off the view from outside.

Gu Changqing stared at the closed door, awkwardly rubbing his nose. ‘Does this girl really trust me so much?’ he wondered. ‘Isn’t she afraid I’ll betray them and spill their plans?’

To be honest, the very fact that he harbored such a doubt indicated he had no such intention. The trust from Miss Xiang Qi filled Gu Changqing with a touch of emotion, so much so that he didn’t notice the strange looks the two supporting characters in the living room were still casting his way.

“You got kicked out?”

Shu Xun passed by, clutching several pieces of fabric, a hint of surprise in her expression.

“Something like that. She told me to wander around.”

Gu Changqing took a stride, not intending to answer the question directly. For a man, it wasn’t exactly a glorious admission.

“Alright, well, good luck then.”

The two exchanged a smile and went their separate ways to attend to their own tasks.

The two supporting characters, who had observed the entire scene, exchanged glances, sensing an unusual development.

‘It’s the scent of dog food. That damn sour smell.’

“You were the one who killed Chen Anhe, weren’t you?” The woman stood with her arms crossed, her expression chillingly grim, as she found the blue-haired young man, Liu Zhengxuan, who had once again retreated to the rooftop to look at the scenery.

Earlier, seeing him rally the team, she had assumed he was a team-oriented player and hadn’t thought much beyond that. But now, with Liu Zhengxuan practically a lone wolf, he showed no signs of panic, which sent a strange feeling of unease through Xiang Ke.

‘Could I have been mistaken? Is he actually a lone wolf player?’

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Xiang Ke seized an opportunity, heading to the rooftop alone, where she found Liu Zhengxuan, who had arrived there at some unknown point.

“Why did you do it?”

Her eyes held a complicated gaze, and she let out a long sigh.

“It wasn’t me. Why would you think that?” As if he had long anticipated Xiang Ke’s arrival, the blue-haired young man turned around, no surprise visible on his face, only a knowing, half-smile as he looked at her.

“Stop pretending. It’s just me.”

Looking at his face, Xiang Ke felt a surge of irritation, an urge to rush forward and punch him.

“Alright, it was me.”

He shrugged, as if nothing had happened, and turned back around, his voice coming across as indifferent.

“What if it was me? What then?”

You…”

Xiang Ke was momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond.

“What, do you want to kill me in retribution? Don’t be ridiculous. Those who reach this level aren’t indecisive. I don’t believe you don’t know why I did it. We’re all adults here, so why don’t you use your brain before you act?”

A gleaming silver pistol spun in his hand, looking exceptionally dazzling in the twilight.

New players weren’t privy to the methods old players possessed, often struggling to comprehend certain situations. But Xiang Ke, also an old player, was keenly aware of these things, knowing what a ruthless individual was capable of.

“Alright, if there’s nothing else, go back.” The polished silver gun dissolved into specks of light in the blue-haired young man’s hand. He clapped his hands, appearing utterly nonchalant.

“It wouldn’t be good if someone saw us.”

Xiang Ke finally understood the source of his confidence. She had entertained many theories before, but this particular one had never crossed her mind.

“I initially thought you were a worthy opponent, but I didn’t expect you to disappoint me so much.”

The blue-haired young man patted Xiang Ke’s shoulder, his words dripping with disdain.

“Indeed, flowers grown in a greenhouse are often unreliable. You should mind your own business and stop interfering with my actions.”

“So, have you discovered something?”

Unexpectedly, Xiang Ke’s tone suddenly became calm, almost as if she were a completely different person.

“Wh—”

Liu Zhengxuan, realizing something was amiss, was about to release his grip when an overwhelming force pressed down on him. He was driven to one knee, unable to even lift his head.

‘This strength… Damn it, this woman is a Hunter!’

The irresistible, monstrous strength brought certain things to mind, and he instinctively activated his talent to resist the immense pressure.

‘The system screwed me over!’ The blue-haired young man felt a profound sense of helplessness. ‘Sure enough, those ambiguous hints hidden in the corners aren’t reliable. This time, I’ve truly crashed and burned.’

In the previous round, he had misinterpreted the system’s clues, leading to a complete defeat. He had narrowly escaped with his life, only to find himself making the same mistake twice.

“You… are… a Hunter?”

Clenching his jaw, the blue-haired young man forced out these words.

“Of course not.”

Perhaps feeling there was no longer any need to conceal it, the woman tilted her head, a mocking look on her face.

“What, you’re allowed to have an Aspect Armament, but I’m not allowed to have a sub-talent?”
