“Hi… hiiiik…”
Yoo Hee-yeon stared at the Longinus spear, which had pierced right beside her. It was astonishing to watch Han
Seong-gil not only lift the massive and elongated Longinus spear but also swing it around as if it were a sword. But
what was even more shocking was the sheer power it exuded.
The ground struck by the Longinus spear cracked slightly. While it didn’t completely split the earth, just the fact that
a single swing of a spear could crack the ground like that was beyond reason.
Yoo Hee-yeon shouted toward the A-class members behind her.
“St… Stop it… Now!”
The ones rushing from behind had already reached right beside Yoo Hee-yeon.
“Haahhhhhh!”
One of the A-class members, who had been mainly serving as a tank with a shield, rushed in boldly. However…
The shield he was holding shattered like tofu, and his body was torn apart as Han Seong-gil’s spear struck him.
Blood splattered into the air. He didn’t even have time to scream before being teleported outside the stage. He must
have been in excruciating pain.
[An A-class participant has been eliminated.]
“Kkhhh… hhheheheheh….”
Han Seong-gil started laughing maniacally, overwhelmed by the excessive dopamine surging through his brain. He
was experiencing an indescribable sense of euphoria. It was the happiness of the act of fighting itself that made him
feel like this.
“More… more screams… more battles…”
Han Seong-gil dropped the Longinus spear to the ground and leaped into the fray with his bare hands.
“Ev… Everyone scatter!”
As he charged forward like a rabid dog, the mages quickly retreated, while the swordsmen and those with decent
physical abilities tried to block his advance. However…
“Khhaaack-!”
With every swing of his arm, one participant after another fell, and a message indicating their elimination echoed.
[An A-class participant has been eliminated.]
Han Seong-gil had already been struck twice by the Longinus spear, his body suffering tremendous physical and
mental damage. In other words, his Berserker trait was boosting his physical abilities to an absurd degree.
The Berserker trait grew stronger the more damage he took and the more pain he endured, granting him immense
strength instead of losing his sanity.
As Han Seong-gil ran, he was no longer consciously surveying his surroundings. His mind was gone, lost in the
distant recesses. His body simply moved on instinct, driven by the urge to kill and rip his opponents apart, like a true
Berserker.
He crouched, then leaped with incredible force, landing on a tree where a mage had been hiding. He grabbed the
mage’s neck.
“P… pl… please… spare me…”
With the force of snapping a chicken’s neck, Han Seong-gil twisted and broke the mage’s neck with his bare hands.
The man, whose body had gone limp, was immediately sent out of the stage.
[An A-class participant has been eliminated.]
Watching the scene from a distance, Jeong Eun-seo covered her mouth in shock.
“Wh… What on earth happened…?”
As she stood there confused, Lee Hyun-seung, who was next to her, spoke.
“He was struck by the Longinus spear, and a massive amount of damage was dealt all at once. The Longinus spear
gives both physical and mental shocks, so I guess both aspects triggered the Berserker trait. He was probably on the
verge of death, or maybe the pain Han Seong-gil felt before losing consciousness was so excruciating that dying
might have been a relief.”
Lee Hyun-seung glanced at the Longinus spear lying on the ground.
He touched the spear. The solidified Longinus spear seemed surprisingly shabby.
‘I don’t know why, but this definitely isn’t the real Longinus spear.’
It was a crude imitation. Even the weapon’s power and the spear itself were off.
But despite being a counterfeit, its power was still formidable. The original Longinus spear was said to be a weapon
designed to kill gods, carrying immense destructive power.
‘It’s probably only about 1% of its original power…’
Lee Hyun-seung, who knew a lot about the Longinus spear, guessed that the spear here was only reproducing about
1% of its original power, if that. It might even be less than that. But still, the fact that it could tear apart a person’s
body and strike the ground with such force without breaking was astonishing.
‘Who could have done something like this…?’
Thanks to Han Seong-gil slaughtering the A-class members from afar, Lee Hyun-seung had the chance to look for the
culprit. Outside the stage, he wouldn’t be affected by the internal battle. In other words, someone from A-class or F-
class had to be the one using the Longinus spear.
‘At this point, everyone from F-class except for me, Jeong Eun-seo, and Han Seong-gil has been eliminated…’
The F-class was ruled out as suspects, leaving A-class as the main possibility.
Lee Hyun-seung turned his gaze toward Yoo Hee-yeon, the most likely suspect.
“Yoo Hee-yeon, I already knew you were crazy, but using bribery too? You think Guild Leader Yoo Han-beom will let
you get away with that?”
Upon hearing this, Yoo Hee-yeon panicked and replied.
“Wh… What nonsense are you saying?! I didn’t bribe anyone for this match…!”
Yoo Hee-yeon had inadvertently let something slip.
“You didn’t bribe anyone… for this match…?”
Lee Hyun-seung stared at Yoo Hee-yeon coldly.
“So, you’re saying you bribed people in previous matches?”
It was clear from the context which time he was referring to. Lee Hyun-seung vividly remembered the time he nearly
died after being hit by a huge fireball during the F-class representative selection, and how he had struggled with an
unbreakable shield. It was clear to anyone that Yoo Hee-yeon had been the one behind it, but he had no concrete
proof—until now, when she had just confessed.
“Th… That’s not…”
Yoo Hee-yeon stammered as she tried to make an excuse, but Lee Hyun-seung ignored her and slammed her face
into the ground.
“If you don’t have the ability, then know your place. Why do you keep trying to climb up by using other people’s
power? Why don’t you realize you’re just a burden? You pathetic piece of trash.”
“Ughhh… Please… let go of me…”
Lee Hyun-seung threw Yoo Hee-yeon aside and shouted at her as she lay on the ground.
“If you don’t want to die right now, ask your team who used the Longinus spear.”
“Wh… Why should I… You… You should ask them yourself.”
“Can’t you understand the situation? You stupid woman.”
Thud
Thud
Thud
Lee Hyun-seung lifted one of the A-class participants, a man who looked like a martial artist, and slapped him across the face.
After several slaps, the man, who had lost consciousness, suddenly snapped awake.
“Ugh… Where am I…?”
Lee Hyun-seung grabbed the man’s head and asked sharply.
“That magic in the sky… Who cast it?”
The man remained silent. When Lee Hyun-seung pointed his gun at him, the man panicked and shouted.
“W-wait! I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you everything!”
Lee Hyun-seung made a gesture as if waiting, and the man took a deep breath before speaking.
“J… Shin Jun-ho. That bastard demanded that all our mana be sent to him. Then, he put the mana into some sphere,
and… demons started coming out, and that’s how that magic was…”
Lee Hyun-seung stared at the man with a vacant expression.
“What did the sphere look like? Did you see any patterns or strange markings?”
“The… It was a small black sphere, and there were strange tattoos or symbols engraved on it…”
[A-class participant has been eliminated.]
After shooting the man, Lee Hyun-seung gathered the information with a nervous expression.
A small black sphere. Strange tattoo-like markings. A material that triggers the casting of a forbidden magic when
mana is infused.
[Ma-hwan]
• An artifact that allows the user to cast forbidden magic by exchanging an enormous amount of mana, along with
their life force.
“Sh*t…”
This was serious. If [Ma-hwan] was here, it wasn’t just the outcome of the match that mattered anymore.
[Ma-hwan] didn’t only help cast forbidden magic when mana was infused, but it became far more dangerous when it
was consumed. If someone were to consume the [Ma-hwan] after gathering mana from dozens of people, an
irreversible disaster could occur.
Just then, a massive sound came from the direction where Han Seong-gil was.
“It’s too late.”
Yoo Hee-yeon turned toward the sound and saw a gigantic, bizarre creature standing with an eerie expression.
“My… my arm…”
“Please… give me my arm back…”
The creature muttered a few times before grabbing an A-class member nearby with its hand.
“Ugh… Ugh… Aaaagh!”
The man screamed and struggled, but the strange monster simply shoved him into its mouth and chewed.
Yoo Hee-yeon stood frozen, staring at the creature.
Then, she noticed something strange.
“W-wait… Why didn’t I hear the message saying that I’ve been eliminated?”
She didn’t hear the elimination message. It was odd. Was it an error? Or was there something wrong? Could it be
that if she died here, it would be real death? Was there an issue with the mage’s protection magic? Countless
thoughts flashed through her mind in an instant.
The creature sent Han Seong-gil flying and began charging toward Lee Hyun-seung and Yoo Hee-yeon.
