The term “Villain,” as the name implies, refers to a character who stands in opposition to the protagonist, creating various obstacles and striving to drive the plot forward.
Tang Chen had always performed these kinds of missions; he was highly skilled and on the verge of becoming an S-rank employee.
But one day, his mission content changed—his arch-nemesis had become his target for pursuit.
Although the company’s arrangement was a bit unexpected, the villain didn’t mind breaking convention in the slightest.
This was more interesting, wasn’t it?
Tang Chen smiled and remained silent.
Pursuit missions were different from following a script; the difficulty was much higher, and as long as humans were involved, it was easy to get entangled in emotions, making things complicated and difficult to control.
Therefore, the company had always been cautious in selecting people for this field.
This change could be considered a high level of recognition for Tang Chen’s work ability.
The company arranged work based on its employees.
Since Tang Chen’s sexual orientation was male, the worlds he traversed were exclusively Danmei worlds.
Considering the change in mission type, the first world was of lower difficulty and was not dangerous.
Tang Chen woke up in bed, opened his eyes, and surveyed his surroundings.
The room was spacious and decorated in gloomy tones.
Heavy curtains blocked the sunlight, with only a sliver of light peeking through the gaps, illuminating a strange poster on the wall.
It was in the style of the famous painting “The Scream,” featuring a figure with a distorted face full of agony, suffering through the searing fires of hell.
The plot filtered into his mind.
After Tang Zhenlin, the head of the Tang family and a business tycoon, entered an arranged marriage, his wife remained childless for many years.
Since the inheritance of the family business was at stake, he found a suitable woman outside and fathered a son, who was then presented as the legitimate offspring of Madam Tang—this was the original host.
However, shortly after the original host was introduced to the public, Madam Tang actually became pregnant and gave birth to a son of her own.
In this way, things became farcical.
The original host’s existence was already known to the business world, so he couldn’t be abandoned, but Madam Tang inevitably harbored a grudge against him.
The original host’s status instantly became awkward; he became the eldest son of the Tang family in name only.
When he was slightly older, he was moved to a separate villa, though he was never neglected in terms of material wealth.
Thus, the Tang family felt they had done everything humanly possible for him.
In reality, however, the original host was just a child starved of love.
He committed all sorts of rebellious acts in an attempt to catch his father’s attention, which only led to their relationship becoming increasingly worse.
Between an ignorant, rebellious eldest son and the well-behaved son born legitimately to his wife, it was obvious who the father would favor.
It was under these circumstances that the original host met the Protagonist Shou, Li You—the first person to ever treat him well unconditionally.
He instantly believed he had fallen in love with this person.
He would intentionally create various troubles and then appear with a worried expression to help Li You solve them, building a relationship step by step.
Originally, things should have proceeded smoothly according to his wishes.
He hadn’t expected that when Li You was dragged to a bar by a friend, he would accidentally run into the Male Lead, Ye Cheng.
Meeting the right person at the right time, Li You fell for him instantly.
When the original host found out, he went mad with jealousy and blackened instantly.
He used his connections to make Ye Cheng lose his job, forcibly tearing them apart, and then appeared before Li You pretending to care, taking advantage of the opening under the guise of helping.
But the original host never imagined that Ye Cheng was no ordinary citizen.
He was far more powerful and influential than the host; he was simply acting low-profile.
Before inheriting his family business, he spent a few years outside doing work he enjoyed.
Who could have imagined that a dentist in a small private clinic would be the heir-apparent to a great family?
After analyzing the plot, Tang Chen had a general orientation for his character’s personality: perverse and flamboyant, hurting people everywhere like a hedgehog, yet inwardly yearning for someone to care about him.
This wouldn’t be difficult to play.
Tang Chen got out of bed and walked barefoot to the full-length mirror.
Contrary to his dark and awkward personality, his appearance was quite exquisite.
His skin was delicate from a life of privilege, and his bright black eyes held a hint of aggression.
It was clear that, to his core, he was not a character to be trifled with.
Perhaps only a person as gentle as Li You would think he was kind and considerate.
He rummaged through the closet for a set of clothes to change into, then leisurely headed downstairs.
Since he woke up late, breakfast and lunch were combined into one meal.
The villa’s butler had watched him grow up and understood his daily routine perfectly.
As soon as he went downstairs, a meticulously prepared meal was ready for him.
Supporting his chin with one hand, he poked at the food on his plate with a look of slight disdain.
Whether it tasted good or not, the original host generally wouldn’t show it.
He had built a high wall against the outside world, refusing to let anyone get close or touch him, and trusting no one.
Walking into his heart was extremely difficult because he was love-starved, insecure, and awkward, yet he acted more arrogant than anyone else.
Most people couldn’t stand this temperament.
The Protagonist Shou, Li You, had a mild temper and a soothing aura.
After caring for him time and again, he had slowly come to stand at the edge of the original host’s heart wall, with a breakthrough in sight.
But now that Tang Chen was here, he naturally couldn’t allow Li You to break through.
At the very least, he had to switch to someone else.
As Tang Chen lazily ate his breakfast, he was still thinking about how to carry out the mission.
Currently, the original host and the Protagonist Shou were only in the stage of building a friendship, and the Protagonist Shou had not yet met the Male Lead.
From this perspective, the situation was favorable for him.
However… why was the Male Lead’s identity a doctor?
He hated doctors—hated them passionately.
Furthermore, looking at the plot, the Male Lead was belly-black and cautious, accustomed to controlling everything.
He was the type to tease and pursue others step by step, but he could not tolerate anyone disrupting his life.
But since the original host had no connection to him, he would have to proactively create an opportunity to meet, all while ensuring the Male Lead didn’t detect any traces of it being staged.
The mission was to pursue him, but it wasn’t suitable to do so directly.
He had to pursue the other party by pretending to be the one being pursued—it was a bit convoluted.
But… it would probably be quite fun.
As a profligate son of the wealthy, he naturally had to go out and live it up—live it up without limits.
A cool, overbearing, bright red sports car roared down the driveway, staging a real-life version of Fast & Furious.
It was extremely arrogant, as if he were deathly afraid that others wouldn’t notice him.
Tang Chen’s eyes sharpened.
He suddenly jerked the steering wheel, and the tires screeched against the ground.
He controlled the car with reckless abandon, slickly overtaking the sports car next to him, nearly brushing against it.
Seeing this thrilling scene, the person driving behind couldn’t help but whistle.
“Young Master Tang, that’s badass!”
Finally, the exhilarating racing session ended.
Tang Chen was the undisputed first place.
He parked to the side, got out, and leaned lazily against the car door, lowering his head to light a cigarette and puffing on it indifferently.
Suddenly, the phone in his pocket vibrated.
Tang Chen fished it out, and with a swipe of his finger, an unread message popped up:
– Ah Chen, have you eaten? Remember that you must eat, otherwise your stomach will hurt again.
Tang Chen gave a soft “tsk.”
With such a gentle and caring tone, how could a love-starved kid possibly resist?
Tsk, it really was an ill-fated connection.
With a casual tap, he sent back a two-word text:
– Eaten.
Very quickly, the phone vibrated again. The screen displayed:
– That’s good then.
He could almost imagine the other party’s expression shifting from worry to relief, with a slight smile.
It was probably quite beautiful; at least in the original host’s eyes, it was unique and very special.
Tang Chen shook his head and threw the phone back into his pocket.
To the side, the man who had whistled earlier walked over.
The top of his head was dyed with a striking yellow highlight, and his tone was teasing and mischievous:
“Young Master Tang, is Sister-in-law caring for you again?”
Tang Chen glanced at him.
This person was also mentioned in passing in the plot—one of the original host’s fair-weather friends.
His family background was slightly worse than the host’s.
They usually hung out together, appearing to have a good relationship, but in reality, when the original host met with misfortune later, this man didn’t just refuse to help; he mocked him and stepped on him further.
Among this group, there was probably only one person who could be considered a friend: Yu Shijian, the son of a nouveau riche.
Initially, the original host looked down on him, but after discovering he was great at video games, they played together often and gradually became close.
The group arrived at a hotel they frequently visited.
The lobby manager was very familiar with these young people.
Having served them many times, he understood their temperaments.
He nodded with a smile and welcomed them in, though an imperceptible trace of contempt flashed in his eyes.
He thought he had hidden it well, but with the original host’s dark and sensitive personality, he had seen through it long ago.
That was why every time he came, he would bark orders at the man and treat him with a terrible attitude.
But if Tang Chen were to say, the original host was still too green.
Disgusting himself while letting the other party make money—what was the point?
It would be better to just change hotels and find a way to trip the man up for fun.
The table was full of sumptuous and beautiful delicacies, pleasing to the eye but impractical, and the prices were ridiculously high.
Because every time these profligates came, they would order a whole table of food, eat only a little, and leave a lot behind.
Over time, this lobby manager wanted to skim some profit from this.
He observed which dishes they ate and which they didn’t touch.
For the plates they left alone, he used ingredients that should have been thrown away to make up the numbers.
The surface still looked magnificent, but the taste was far below standard.
But this time, Tang Chen refused to follow the script.
He reached out with his chopsticks to take a piece of the steamed fish—a dish everyone usually avoided because it was a hassle.
He lazily picked out the bones, but as soon as the fish entered his mouth, he frowned deeply.
Ignoring etiquette, he spat it all out and shouted provocatively:
“What the hell is this?! It tastes disgusting! I wouldn’t even feed this to a dog!”
Instantly, the surrounding diners all looked over.
The lobby manager’s expression turned somewhat ugly.
He immediately walked over, leaning down with a smile:
“Young Master Tang, may I ask what happened?”
Tang Chen crossed his legs, pointed his chopsticks at the plate of fish, and sneered:
“What is this? Do you take me for a beggar on the street, serving me such garbage?”
The manager looked over, and cold sweat started running down his back.
Damn it, why did he decide to eat the fish today? He usually hates fish bones.
That fish was originally dead and meant to be tossed.
Since cooking fresh ones for them usually ended up in the trash anyway, he had simply cooked it and served it for display.
“This… this is one of our hotel’s signature dishes. Many people like it. If Young Master Tang is dissatisfied, I’ll have someone take it back and cook a new one, how about that?”
His attitude was good, and his words were well-chosen.
Most of the people dining here were wealthy regulars who had also heard of this group of second-generation rich kids.
They assumed it was just another random temper tantrum and only felt sorry for the manager, who was taking heat for no reason.
“No need. I see the standards of this hotel are declining by the day. How is anyone supposed to eat here? You’ve completely ruined my appetite. You say the guests like it? Heh, this garbage? Don’t make it look like I’m intentionally looking for trouble and bullying a working man like you—I’m not that lacking in morals.”
Tang Chen lifted his eyelids, waved his hand, and told one of the people at the table to take the fish and let a guest at another table try it.
The fair-weather friends, of course, were happy to watch the chaos and were quite cooperative.
The chosen guest frowned, unwilling to eat food that someone else had already touched.
Tang Chen naturally didn’t want the manager to escape so easily, so he raised an eyebrow and smiled:
“Sir, don’t worry. I used the serving chopsticks, and I’m perfectly healthy with no ailments.”
The guest was a bit embarrassed by his bluntness and shook his head:
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Sir, you look like a fair person. Why not do me a favor? Give everyone present a verdict so they can see if I’m just causing a scene.”
The guest hesitated for a moment, but eventually lowered his chopsticks toward the fish.
While dining earlier, Tang Chen had been observing and analyzing the guests present.
This man wasn’t the easiest to talk to, but he was upright and blunt—well-known in their circles for it.
If something came out of his mouth, the probability of everyone believing it was especially high.
As soon as it entered his mouth, the guest’s expression changed.
While he didn’t disrespectfully spit it directly onto the plate like Tang Chen, he took a napkin to cover his mouth and picked up his water to rinse.
He said:
“Such a strong fishy stench… this… could it be made from a dead fish?”
As he spoke, he looked at the lobby manager with a rather unpleasant expression.
The person being stared at grew even more nervous, struggling to maintain his smile:
“How could that be? There was probably an issue during the preparation process. Would you like me to call the chef to explain the situation?”
Tang Chen narrowed his eyes—he was looking for a scapegoat.
“If even a star-rated hotel does such things, how can we eat with peace of mind? Forget it, I’ve lost my appetite. Bill me.”
Tang Chen waved his hand impatiently, swiped his card, and left, giving the manager no chance to make amends.
The man could only stand there awkwardly.
As he was leaving, Tang Chen picked up his glass of whiskey and took a few sips to wash away the fishy taste.
The cold, spicy sensation slid down his throat, which was quite refreshing.
But in the next second, he involuntarily hissed.
A certain tooth in the back of his mouth suddenly throbbed with pain.
Tang Chen frowned, but acting as if nothing had happened, he took his bank card and walked out.
The valet drove the car over and stood respectfully to the side.
Tang Chen glanced at him, his tongue subconsciously prodding his cheek.
When his teeth clamped down, he immediately knit his brows in frustration.
Yu Shijian happened to see it and joked:
“What’s wrong, Young Master Tang? Your cheek looks a bit swollen.”
Tang Chen swept a glance over at him.
Yu Shijian stiffened, his mischievous smile vanishing instantly.
Under that gaze, he actually found himself at a loss for words.
He waved his hand.
“Haha, I probably saw wrong.”
This guy, why did his aura suddenly become so terrifying?
However, he still kindly reminded him:
“A toothache isn’t a disease, but when it hurts, it really kills. Don’t be stubborn—go see a doctor sooner rather than later.”
Tang Chen curled his lip and stepped into the car.
Just as he was about to shift gears, he hesitated, flipped down the mirror, and opened his mouth to look.
He found that at the very back of his mouth, a tooth was actually emerging, half-grown.
Damn it, a wisdom tooth? What kind of villainous rich kid setting is this?!
His tooth continued to throb with pain.
Tang Chen’s hand on the steering wheel tightened into a fist, veins bulging.
His mood became even worse.
He stepped on the gas and sped toward his villa.
On the way back, the pain slowly eased.
Entering the living room, Tang Chen casually threw his jacket aside and leaned back, sprawling unceremoniously on the soft sofa.
Following the young master’s preferences, the butler brought out a sweet Black Forest cake, exquisite and lovely, emitting a rich aroma of cream.
Tang Chen frowned.
The original host actually likes eating this?
On the way back, he had remembered that the Male Lead Ye Cheng’s profession was a dentist.
He had initially thought this toothache was an automated opportunity arranged by the company, which made him a bit annoyed.
But now it seemed he would have suffered this pain sooner or later anyway.
Such a glutton.
Though he said this in his mind, his hands didn’t hesitate at all.
He coolly picked up the small cake and began to eat it bite by bite.
As he swallowed the last bite, he licked his lips as if he hadn’t had enough.
He glanced at the coffee table; the snack tray held a handful of imported candies.
The beautiful packaging looked very appetizing, seemingly jumping out and shouting:
[ Eat me! Eat me! ]
Thus, Tang Chen very naturally took a milk candy, unwrapped it, and tossed it into his mouth.
His tongue rolled it around twice before tucking it to one side, making his right cheek bulge slightly.
The milky flavor was rich and sweet without being cloying.
Once one dissolved in his mouth, he ate another.
During this time, a certain tooth in his mouth would throb every now and then, symbolically asserting its presence.
Tang Chen didn’t give it any face this time, simply shrugging his shoulders.
‘Whatever, I’m getting it pulled tomorrow anyway.’
