“What are you two up to?” I asked, holding the two furry accessories in my hands and staring at the two gentlemen, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation.

Linghu the Third shrank back timidly under my sharp gaze, a hint of fear in his eyes.

As it turned out, Yang the Second’s thick skin was on a whole different level from Old Linghu’s. When it came to moments like this, he had to take the lead himself. He stepped forward and said with a casual smile, “Nothing special. I’m just curious to see what you’d look like if you put these on, Old Fourth.”

I had more or less guessed what they were up to the moment I saw those things, but I hadn’t expected him to be so blunt. He left me no chance to play dumb or beat around the bush, so I followed his lead and shot back directly, “I’m not wearing them. Who knows what kind of perverted scheme you’re cooking up, Yang the Second! I’m not falling for it!”

My objection probably didn’t surprise Second Brother at all. He flashed a smile that was half-flattering and half-serious. “Old Fourth, I’m not scheming at all. This is for Xiao Qi’s sake!”

“For Xiao Qi’s sake? What do you mean?” Caught off guard by his mention of Xiao Qi, I immediately asked, looking up at her huddled in her blanket. She seemed just as bewildered, staring at Yang the Second and the others with a confused expression.

“Don’t act so sincere! What does this have to do with Xiao Qi? Yang the Second, I’m warning you—keep your dirty, twisted thoughts to yourself in front of her. Otherwise, if I can’t handle you, just wait for Guo the Boss to deal with you!” Seeing Xiao Qi’s clueless look, I didn’t hold back. The thought of him dragging innocent, naive little fox Xiao Qi into this made my blood boil.

“Old Fourth, you’re really misunderstanding Second Brother this time… We… we’re actually… um… planning this for Xiao Qi’s sake…” Linghu the Third said cautiously, a look of timidity on his face.

“Yes, yes! I’m being completely serious! Making you wear this is definitely for Xiao Qi’s benefit!” Second Brother chimed in hastily, grateful for Old Linghu’s support.

“Oh, really? Then tell me, what exactly is it?” I pressed, feeling I had the upper hand.

“It’s to help Xiao Qi find her brother and sister!” Yang the Second replied without a second thought.

I was taken aback by his claim and blurted out, “What does that have to do with me wearing this nonsense?”

“Think about it, Old Fourth. We’ve been searching Tianwu University for days without finding a single clue. Why do you think that is?” Yang the Second asked, coaxing me along.

“How should I know? Maybe Xiao Qi’s brother and sister have already left Tianwu University,” I answered offhandedly, not expecting his question.

“That’s one possibility, but the key issue isn’t that! Think about it: we’ve asked around for so long without any leads. It’s ultimately because we have too little information. Xiao Qi can’t remember what her brother and sister look like, so we have no idea who they are. We’re just searching based on a vague feeling—how is that supposed to work?” Yang the Second explained patiently.

“That’s true, but if Xiao Qi can’t remember, what can we do?” I had to concede his point, but countered again.

“Well, that’s exactly why you need to wear this getup. Since Xiao Qi can’t remember, we’ll help her recall. Look, Xiao Qi herself said that Guo the Boss feels a lot like her brother. So why hasn’t she remembered what her brother looks like yet?” Second Brother continued eloquently.

“Why?” I asked, already falling into his trap.

“Because there’s a crucial missing piece—her sister!” Yang the Second declared with certainty, as if he were pronouncing a verdict.

“But what does that have to do with me wearing… wait… are you guys trying to…” I was still processing, but halfway through I started to catch on.

“Exactly! We want you to put on these things and dress up like a vixen. That way, maybe Xiao Qi will associate you with her sister. Plus, with Guo the Boss around, it might just jog her memory about her brother and sister!” Yang the Second jumped in eagerly, full of confidence.
