A magic circle floating in the sky endlessly emitted the Hell Mana that Nerim had used.
The Hell Mana flowing out of the magic circle was dyeing the sky.
“Kyaaaah!”
Ordinary NPC citizens who had been walking peacefully inside the holy capital started screaming and fleeing.
It was clearly abnormal behavior. They were reacting to the magic circle floating high in the sky.
[The power of Hell is drawing one step closer.]
The message that had appeared when I obtained the cursed sword appeared once again.
It seemed that everyone could see it, as the surrounding players were scanning the empty air.
“Yeon, do you know what this is?”
I hesitated at Helena’s question.
It seemed that something had been triggered because of this cursed sword, but I didn’t know the details either.
“No, I have no idea. But I think it has something to do with this weapon…”
As I pulled out the newly acquired weapon and swung it around, black energy spread in all directions.
The exaggerated visual effects characteristic of a world item completely enveloped the weapon.
“Could it be some kind of event?”
“An event?”
I nodded at Helena’s question.
Yes, this was definitely an event. A triggered event that activates upon meeting certain conditions.
The message indicated that the power of Hell was approaching. A mysterious magic circle had appeared in the sky, continuously releasing Hell Mana.
“This is an invasion event.”
Based on my extensive gaming experience, I could roughly deduce the identity of the magic circle.
That was the sign of an invasion event beginning.
Once the designated time arrived, Hell monsters would undoubtedly pour out of that magic circle.
“Invasion?”
“Yeah.”
[The power of Hell is drawing one step closer.]
At that moment, as if to confirm my suspicions, the message appeared once again.
The magic circle above the holy capital attracted the attention of countless players.
Even raid groups halted their battles and returned to the capital to witness the phenomenon.
As scattered players began converging on the holy capital, NPCs started behaving differently than usual.
Ordinary citizens fled, while the patrolling NPC guards began gathering in one place.
From inside the castle, elite knights—who usually only appeared during special events—began pouring out.
From various temples, paladins and priest NPCs started emerging.
There was no promised reward. No one knew what would come out.
Yet, players joined forces with the NPCs, drawing their weapons in anticipation.
The occasional snippets of conversation from the NPCs further reinforced the certainty that this was an invasion event.
I also gathered my guild members, blending in with the allied guilds, and stood in front of the vast plaza, waiting for the event to begin.
How much time had passed?
The magic circle floating in the air began trembling violently before splitting apart as if it were being torn.
[The power of Hell is beginning to spill into reality.]
Crack!
As the magic circle expanded, ripping through the air, demon-type monsters wreathed in Hell Mana started pouring out.
[Kieeeeeek!]
It wasn’t just one or two.
Dozens, then hundreds of demons began pouring out.
“The invasion of Hell has begun! Do not back down!”
As the demons appeared, the NPCs also began to react.
The paladins drew their swords and charged forward, followed closely by the elite knights.
As the NPCs and demon monsters clashed in battle, the players also unsheathed their weapons and began fighting the demons.
Thus, the chaotic battle began.
“A sudden large-scale invasion event like this… Was something special supposed to happen today?”
Iyeap, who was standing next to me, asked.
But I couldn’t bring myself to admit that this event had likely started because of me.
Some players drew their weapons and joined the battle against the demon monsters, while others, seeing no rewards, chose to leave the capital.
However, most players, like the NPCs fighting to protect their world, swung their swords with all their might, cutting down the demons.
I also drew my sword to participate in the event.
Srrrng—
As the cursed sword was unsheathed, it scattered its signature dazzling effects.
At that moment, a translucent message window appeared before my eyes.
[Hell’s Legion Commander, Kraksel, offers the master of the cursed sword a chance to fight on their side.]
If you accept, you will fight as an invasion force commander alongside the demons until the invasion event ends.
Once the event concludes, everything will return to normal.
I immediately glanced around.
Everyone was too busy trying to stop the invasion to pay any attention to me.
It seemed that this message had been sent to me alone.
Would it be a good idea to accept this offer?
While I hesitated for a moment, Helena approached and asked.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Uh… Just considering something.”
The weapon upgrade was already complete.
The quest window hadn’t updated with anything new.
In other words, this was likely just an event-based offer.
I could accept it, or I could ignore it.
But I wanted to accept it.
To stand on the side of the monsters—something normally impossible, an experience that no ordinary gameplay would allow.
To fight against NPCs as part of the demon forces—when else would I get a chance to experience something like this?
Without hesitation, I pressed the accept button.
At that moment, the rift spewing demons began expanding further, and Hell Mana started pouring onto the ground.
That was when the cursed sword in my hand began reacting.
Was it because of the Hell Mana it had absorbed from Nerim’s corruption?
The sword started absorbing the Hell Mana spilling onto the ground.
“Yeon…?”
“Oh… Ooooh…”
As the cursed sword absorbed the Hell Mana, the mana flowed through it and into my body, triggering a transformation.
My short stature began to grow.
My frail limbs started bulking up with muscle.
My fair skin darkened, and before I knew it, I had grown tall enough to look down at Helena.
The transformation didn’t stop there.
The sword in my hand also started enlarging to match my now massive body.
As soon as the absorption of Hell Mana ceased, I was able to check the changes in my body.
There was no trace left of my former human self.
My entire appearance now closely resembled a Balrog straight out of subculture media.
A body covered in black fur, muscular limbs, sharp claws and talons, a long tail, and wings sprouting from my back.
I had completely transformed into a demon.
“Waaaaah!”
Spreading both arms wide, I let out a roar, sending black energy effects rippling in all directions.
Even the skill slots, which I had set up to track cooldowns, had changed, now displaying abilities used by monsters.
[The Master of the Cursed Sword, Pronoth, has appeared in the capital city of Lunaris!]
A monster transformation event—something I had only speculated about!
And not just any monster, but a named boss.
I had assumed that I would simply fight alongside the monsters against the NPCs using my own body, but that wasn’t the case.
“Kuwaaaaaah!”
I let out a demonic roar and swung my sword.
Pronoth’s body possessed overwhelming strength.
As I swung the massive cursed sword in my grasp, green flames erupted and spread in all directions, toppling buildings across the capital.
At that moment, just as a named boss had appeared on the monster’s side, a powerful named NPC emerged on the opposing side.
Bathed in radiant sunlight, a knight clad in magnificent full-plate armor stepped forth.
[Knight Commander, Executioner Crow]
Was it due to the blessing of the Sun God? Or was it because of a special skill unique to him?
Crow’s body was even larger than when he had appeared in raid dungeons.
He drew his sacred sword, gleaming with sunlight, and began closing the distance between us.
As the colossal figure, radiating holy light, advanced with thundering footsteps, the demons around me rushed to intercept him, as if trying to protect me.
But they couldn’t stop him.
Every demon that tried to block his path was sliced apart and obliterated by his divine blade.
Watching this unfold, I was certain—this was an event designed for the defending players to inevitably win.
But that didn’t mean I would go down without a fight.
I moved my arms and legs, trying to familiarize myself with Pronoth’s body.
The structure was vastly different from what I had been used to, making movement feel awkward.
Just then, Crow, who had been approaching at a steady pace, suddenly broke into a sprint.
His charge was incredibly fast.
Wrapped in blinding sunlight, the knight raced toward me, and I instinctively raised my sword.

“…Ah.”
A familiar message window appeared before me.
That damned law that always stole my time had caught me by the ankle once again.
The demon’s sigh escaped my lips, gradually fading into nothingness.
The knight’s holy sword, which had been surging toward me, never made contact.
Likewise, my cursed sword never struck its target.
As my gaze shifted slightly, I checked the time.
10:00 PM
The clock displayed the exact time without even a fraction of a second off.
And just like that, I was forcibly logged out.
The sudden large-scale invasion event—
According to those who participated, there were no special rewards.
They simply fought off the demon-race monsters that rained down from the sky and received a long-duration area-wide buff.
The event itself wasn’t particularly difficult, thanks to the NPCs who fought alongside the players.
Rumors began to spread that a special reward was given to the person who defeated the unique named monster from the demon faction.
But that turned out to be false.
A post revealed that [The Master of the Cursed Sword, Pronoth] hadn’t been slain by a player’s hands—he had simply vanished into thin air.

“My friend clipped this from the video he sent me. This chick suddenly transformed into a demon and started wrecking buildings like a lunatic.
I was busy fighting demons up front, so I missed it, but my friend, who was just watching from the back, managed to record it.”
