Chapter 27: Unexpected Aid

quite refreshing to see Seohwa unnie wearing this meat restaurant uniform.

She gives off a vibe of a successful career woman, which might be adding to that feeling.

“Wooju! Who’s this? She’s so pretty…!”

“So there’s such a pretty person around Kang Wooju? Hey, why didn’t you tell us until now?”

As expected, the couple, Park Jaeseong and his partner, widened their eyes at Seohwa unnie and hurriedly asked about our relationship.

Well, it makes sense. They’ve known each other since elementary school, so the surprise must be amplified.

Honestly, I can’t believe there’s such a beautiful person around a socially awkward guy like me.

“She’s unnie, Ryu Seohwa. We got closer after meeting a few times recently while watching my streams often. She’s two years older than us.”

“Hello, I’m Ryu Seohwa. I was trying not to interrupt your conversation, but I’m sorry for butting in.”

Seohwa unnie greeted us with an impeccably smooth introduction and a gentle smile.

I often think this, but she speaks so elegantly that I wonder if she received some kind of training in it.

It’s a skill I really envy as someone who’s awkward around others.

“Interrupt? Not at all, unnie…! I’m just so happy to meet someone as pretty as you!”

After introducing my friends, Yunayun raised her hand abruptly to contradict Seohwa’s words.

Come to think of it, she really likes pretty people.

She once said that she has a strong admiration for things she doesn’t possess, and that might be why she was so

taken aback when she first met my unnie.

In a way, she has such a naive personality.

“By the way, how did you end up here?”

“Um… the truth is, I know the new owner, and they mentioned they were short-staffed. So, I’m just here temporarily for a few days…”

Seohwa unnie answered, avoiding my gaze with a hint of anxiety.

Now that I think about it, Yunayun mentioned the owner changed. Since a few staff left, it seems like she came in to fill the gap.

It reminds me of the twin party.

“Unnie, if you’re not too busy, why don’t you join us for some meat? They gave us so much as a service that we can’t finish it all.”

Since the restaurant was somewhat empty, I thought it would be okay to invite her to join us.

If she said she couldn’t because of work, that would be understandable.

“Is that really okay? I don’t want to be a bother…”

“Not at all! I think they’d be happy to have you!”

“Exactly, unnie! The more people there are to share the meat, the better it tastes!”

“Agreed.”

Contrary to my worries, it seemed Seohwa unnie genuinely wanted to join in the conversation as well.

With our insistence, she turned her head toward the kitchen, seemingly checking for something.

It must be a bit awkward to join us when she’s not on a break, even if she’s meeting someone she knows.

But it would be too much to ask the owner if she could take a break for her.

Just as I was pondering what to do, the sturdy-looking owner stepped out from the kitchen and spoke up first.

“Seohwa! Since there are no customers, why don’t you take a break with your friends? Have some meat!”

“Really? Thank you so much!”

“Wow, the owner seems really nice.”

It’s surprising to see an owner who shows such consideration for their employees,

and it’s equally impressive how casually Seohwa unnie accepted it. Usually, one would show at least a hint of gratitude.

Instead, Yunayun was quick to praise the owner, exclaiming her admiration. Is this some kind of reversal?

Anyway, since it ended positively, I immediately patted the cushion beside me and called Seohwa unnie over.

“Please sit here, unnie. You must be tired from working, so have some meat!”

“Thank you, I will enjoy it.”

I was worried she might feel uncomfortable sitting next to me, but unnie didn’t hesitate to take her seat beside me as if she had been waiting for the invitation.

But somehow, it feels a bit too close; maybe it’s just my imagination.

“Now that we have one more person, I have to grill harder.”

When I thought about feeding the meat to the couple in front of me, I didn’t feel much motivation,

but thinking about it going into Seohwa unnie’s stomach made me tense up.

As I snapped the tongs together, Seohwa unnie looked up at me and reached for the grill.

“I can grill it if you want…”

“It’s fine, just eat, unnie. I may not be good at many things, but I’m great at grilling meat.”

It might seem silly to brag about something like this, but it was my way of being courteous.

Noticing this, unnie chuckled softly and said, “Then I’ll leave it to you,” before taking a piece of meat,

dipping it in the sauce, and bringing it to her mouth.

Even when I shared a meal with her before, I noticed how elegant her eating posture was.

If a noble lady from a fantasy novel were to eat, it would probably look like this.

“Pfft. Kang Wooju, aren’t you staring too hard? Unnie’s going to get indigestion.”

“Uh, uh…?”

Unknowingly lost in thought, Yunayun burst into laughter, pointing out my behavior.

“…Ah.”

“…Ugh.”

Coming back to my senses, I locked eyes with unnie, who was chewing the meat, and we both turned our heads away at the same time.

Yet the sight of unnie’s flushed face lingered before my eyes, refusing to fade away.

Damn, Kang Wooju, you idiot. Have you never seen someone eat meat before?

Don’t be a socially awkward idiot and just sit still, making Seohwa unnie uncomfortable. What the hell am I doing?

“Hey, stop it. She’s clearly from a different world than us.”

“I know that without you having to say it, idiot.”

As Park Jaeseong’s blunt comment followed, I could only weakly protest in a voice that trailed off.

I hope Seohwa unnie doesn’t think anything strange about me… I seriously didn’t mean it that way.“

By the way, what brings you three here today?”

“Pardon? Ah, that’s…”

As I silently cursed myself, Seohwa unnie took the initiative to break the awkward silence.

It seems she either didn’t see the announcement broadcast recently or forgot that we were supposed to meet here.

“I was looking for a YouTube editor, and Yunayun here works in that field, so I wanted to meet her to make an offer.”

“Oh, I see… So, are you going to take the editing job?”

“I think I will. I can’t refuse after they treated me to beef, right?”

As I shrugged, unnie glanced nervously at Yunayun, who was sitting across from her.

Is she worried that the editor will turn out to be a weirdo like other viewers? Even though Yunayun seems a bit

clumsy, she’s actually quite competent in her work.
