Dragon Girl Lan Ruobing

Chapter 0891 words8 min read

Tomorrow was the day his innate ability would awaken, yet Lan Nuo felt no urgency whatsoever.

He was an orphan, his nature placid, his circle of friends small.

He harbored no grand expectations for life, content merely to drift through his days in quiet ordinariness.

Moreover, on the Mythical Continent, those who awakened their abilities at the age of eighteen were often fated to possess either a useless ability or none at all.

Consequently, he held no hopes for himself.

As for romance…

He did, in fact, have a girl he liked, right there in his class.

Alas, she was the undisputed goddess of the entire school, her abilities said to be heaven-defying.

Countless wealthy and handsome suitors vied for her attention.

Compared to them, he was utterly unremarkable, both in status and appearance.

The goddess would likely never spare him a glance.

Lying in bed, he watched the moonlight pour through his window, casting a silver sheen across the floor.

After quietly gazing at the ceiling for a while, Lan Nuo let out a desolate sigh.

‘Forget it,’ he mused. ‘Whatever happens, happens. My life is probably destined to be ordinary, anyway.’

“Beep, beep, beep!”

It was the blare of a car horn.

Living in this dilapidated house on a busy street, he was roused each morning not by an alarm clock, but by the symphony of passing vehicles.

Lan Nuo had long grown accustomed to it.

He fumbled for his phone, glancing at the screen.

It was 5:50 AM, a mere ten minutes before his 6 o’clock alarm was set to unleash its assault.

‘I wish I could just doze off for a little longer…’

Regrettably, that was not an option.

His first class began at eight, but the cheap rent meant his abode was a considerable distance away.

If he didn’t get up now, he’d be late.

He gazed at the faded, yellowish ceiling before reluctantly rising.

A languid yawn escaped him as he yearned to sit for a moment longer, allowing his still-sleepy body to fully awaken.

As he sat there, a sudden frown creased his brow.

The thigh beneath his backside felt incredibly soft and comfortable, though it was starting to grow a little numb.

Thinking this, he lifted his hips, intending to shift the leg out from underneath him.

To his astonishment, the leg felt utterly wrong.

It was agile and light, and with a gentle lift, it actually snapped upwards with a gust of wind.

Snap! A crisp sound echoed.

Lan Nuo’s head buzzed, and a searing pain flared across his entire face.

His consciousness instantly returned to crystal clarity!

“Hiss-ow-yo-yo-yo!”

He clutched his face, writhing and rolling on the bed in agony.

“Pain, pain, pain, pain! I’m dying from the pain!” he roared in anguish, yet his voice was surprisingly clear and sweet.

He froze, a strange sense of bewilderment washing over him.

“Eh?”

Clear and sweet.

It was the voice of a soft, delicate girl!

‘Wha-wha-wha-wha-what’s going on?’

Terrified, he clamped a hand over his mouth, his heart pounding with panic, momentarily forgetting the stinging pain on his face.

‘Which little sister is mimicking me? This prank is not funny at all!’

He swallowed hard, then lifted his head, scanning the room.

No one.

His heart raced even faster.

‘No… it can’t be? Was that… my voice?!’

‘How is that possible! How could an eighteen-year-old boy like me possess such an embarrassing voice!!’

Swallowing again, he steeled his nerves and tentatively uttered a suggestive phrase often spoken by anime girls.

“Ara?”

His eyes widened further.

“Ma!?”

“Desu!!!”

With each word, his heart felt as if it had been struck by lightning.

The final “Desu” was practically a tearful shriek, carrying his last shred of hope.

‘How could this be…’

His heart seized, and his breath seemed to catch in his throat.

‘No!’

‘I don’t believe it! I don’t believe it!! I don’t believe it!!!’

Frantically, he raised a trembling hand, disbelievingly reaching for his own throat.

He touched it again and again.

It was smooth as jade, delicate and soft, utterly devoid of an Adam’s apple.

“!!!”

Her pupils constricted.

‘H-how could this be?!’

She lowered her gaze, refusing to believe, and peered down at her chest.

Beneath the loose nightshirt, two distinct, round, white mounds were undeniably present.

‘This… this is…’

A slight movement sent them jiggling, bouncing up and down!

The motion left her eyes unfocused, her small face burning crimson.

‘Wh-wh-wh-wha-what is this?!!’

‘So shameful!!!’

Her heart hammered like a drum, like a bell.

Her hands, now like delicate claws, hovered before the two soft, pristine mounds.

Trembling, they waited, poised to grasp.

‘Impossible! No! Absolutely not!’

‘I must still be dreaming! I must still be—’

“Mmm-hmm~ Ah-ha~”

!!!

A soft, electric moan shattered the silence, extinguishing the last flicker of light in her eyes.

‘How could this be…’

“It’s really… grown…”

Her lips trembled as she murmured in a daze.

The jade-like hands, clutching her new ‘bunnies,’ slowly loosened their grip, falling away powerlessly…

“No!!!!!!!!”

“Waaahhh!!!”

From the dilapidated residential street, a soul-wrenching roar of agony erupted, hysterical and echoing long into the morning.

“Beep, beep, beep!”

The car horns outside continued their serenade.

No one paid any mind to the wailing reverberating from the old street.

Life went on as usual, and the sun rose as it always did.
