Prologue

“Ring, ring, ring.”

Morning light leaked through the gap in the curtains, filling the air with the absurd beauty of the Tyndall effect.

Feng Mianwan was awakened by the ringing sound.

Her consciousness still hovered between sleeping and waking, taking several seconds to realize there was a slight tightening sensation around her wrist.

She subconsciously looked in the direction of the noise.

She saw her left wrist wrapped in a silver chain, which extended from her wrist bone, looped around the bedpost, and tied into a delicate bow.

She tried moving her fingers, causing the chain to sway slightly and make a crisp sound like a wind chime.

Feng Mianwan remained silent for two seconds as if realizing something, then turned her head toward the foot of the bed.

A thin, white-haired girl was kneeling on the carpet at the end of the bed, a thick spellbook spread across her lap, eagerly turning the pages.

Her excessively long white hair fell messily onto the floor, and her long eyelashes fluttered softly.

Most striking of all were the girl’s small, red, deer-like eyes, which seemed to sparkle under the sunlight.

Feng Mianwan sighed and asked in a helpless tone, “Jiang Yuchu, why did you tie my hand up?”

Hearing the commotion, Jiang Yuchu moved her gaze away from the spellbook, her deer-like eyes blinking as she looked over.

She awkwardly clutched the hem of her clothes for a long moment before taking a deep breath and speaking.

“Um… Mianwan, I like you.”

“So you tied me to the bed just to confess to me?” Feng Mianwan reacted, the corner of her mouth twitching slightly.

Jiang Yuchu hung her little white-haired head and poked her fingers together.

“I was a bit scared that Mianwan would run away right after hearing my confession… and confessing to you so suddenly seemed a bit rude.”

“Is tying someone to a bed considered polite then, if I may ask?”

Feng Mianwan shook her bound hand again.

Mm… to be fair, the wind chime sound was actually quite pleasant.

Jiang Yuchu hurriedly ran to Feng Mianwan’s side, rubbed her wrist, and asked with some embarrassment, “Ah, this… I’m sorry, Mianwan, does your hand hurt? I will untie it for you right now.”

Feng Mianwan slumped onto the bed, completely drained of life, “Then why are you trying to copy others and confine someone? I told you long ago to read fewer web novels, but you just wouldn’t listen to me.”

Jiang Yuchu froze again upon hearing this, shaking her little white-haired head rapidly.

“I didn’t say I wanted to confine Mianwan, I just… wanted to make a confession.”

“Nothing else?” Feng Mianwan raised an eyebrow, “Then untie me first.”

“Ah, there is one more thing…”

As Jiang Yuchu spoke, a lovely shade of crimson flushed her fair little face.

She crawled onto the bed, came up right in front of Feng Mianwan, grabbed Feng Mianwan’s ponytail, and slowly leaned down.

“Ah, f*ck, wait a second, what are you doing…” Seeing that familiar little face getting closer and closer, Feng Mianwan could not help but start to panic.

Feng Mianwan could not imagine at all that the girl who always liked to pull at her clothes and follow behind her like an obedient little white rabbit would one day fall in love with her…

But if she thought about it carefully, all of this did not seem entirely without warning…
