My life started to go off track back in high school.
That day when I stood in front of the guy who was bullying a girl.
That was when his relentless torment towards me began.
I later found out that he was a well-known aspiring hunter at school.
A hunter’s strength far exceeded that of ordinary people.
The only form of resistance I had left was to drop out.
There was no other way.
From the day I dropped out, I refused to leave the house.
I didn’t know when I might run into him again.
Still, living a life confined to my home wasn’t all that bad anymore. I could explore a variety of worlds through the internet.
‘Is there anything new today?’
Like any other day, I logged onto an internet news site.
“This is…”
[Jinhyang curses at a reporter]
The provocative headline stood out.
I immediately moved my mouse and clicked on the article.
What appeared was a blurred image of her finger. Even though it was covered, the middle finger was unmistakable.
‘What a personality.’
Jinhyang, who was ranked among the top three hunters in South Korea.
For someone who should have been more humble than anyone else, her behavior was terribly rough.
“Damn it.”
Looking at Jinhyang’s fierce eyes brought back memories of my trauma.
Her face reminded me too much of the guy who ruined my life.
“Ugh.”
I wasn’t usually one to leave comments, but today I had no choice.
– What a horrible personality, seriously -.–
After typing just a few words, I felt a strange sense of relief.
As I looked out the window with a somewhat satisfied heart, I saw the sun rising.
‘It’s already time to sleep.’
I pushed myself onto the bed.
For some reason, I felt like I’d sleep well tonight.
But of course, I ended up being summoned by Jinhyang.
“Care to repeat the nasty comment you wrote?”
“Ah, uh, well…”
“Not going to say it?”
Jinhyang’s icy gaze bore down on me.
It seemed like refusing her would put me in real danger.
I had no choice but to speak.
“S-such a, a terrible personality…”
“Louder.”
“WHAT A HORRIBLE PERSONALITY, SERIOUSLY!”
“Hmph…”
Without a word, she just nodded, expressionless.
Her expression was completely unreadable, not revealing even a hint of emotion.
“Well, whatever. The important thing is whether or not I decide to show you mercy.”
“Yes, yes! I’ll do anything, please just be lenient…”
For a moment, it seemed like Jinhyang smiled.
Though, it was probably just my imagination.
“Alright, it’s not like leniency is out of the question.”
“Oh, then…”
Before I could finish my sentence, Jinhyang handed me a business card.
“I’m short on staff anyway. Come work for me for a month, and I’ll forgive you.”
“A month?”
“Yeah.”
The decision didn’t take long.
For an unemployed person like me, working for a month was definitely better than paying a fine.
I quickly took her business card.
‘That’s a relief.’
I had been worried about what would happen after being called by Jinhyang, but getting off with just a month of work for forgiveness seemed almost too easy.
