A Dragon’s Awakening, A Girl’s Predicament

Chapter 1840 words7 min read

“How could this happen? Waaah…”

Sitting on the bed, Lan Nuo’s fair, delicate hands wiped away her tears as she sobbed.

‘I haven’t done anything wicked, so why did I wake up as a girl?’

‘Could this be a divine mistake, a beautiful accident?’

She silently cursed herself, then noticed her long hair.

It was a shimmering, soft, and lustrous blue-white.

“…”

Earlier, in her panic, she had only focused on verifying her breasts and the absence of an Adam’s apple.

Now, having calmed down, she finally saw that her hair color had changed.

Upon closer inspection, the “thigh” that had struck her was still swaying freely behind her, moving with her mood.

A strange sense of unease settled in.

Awakenings on the Mythical Continent varied wildly.

Some transformed into nine-tailed foxes, others into bloodkin, some became unrecognizable to their own mothers, while some gained utterly useless abilities, only able to conjure fireworks for amusement.

It wasn’t impossible for her to turn into some unprecedented monster.

‘I hope I can still be considered human.’

Gritting her teeth, she cautiously controlled the appendage behind her, slowly moving it into her line of sight.

This thing possessed immense power; she couldn’t risk it striking her again.

A moment later, a dazzling, blue-scaled dragon tail appeared before her eyes.

Its underside was a soft, adorable pearly white, while its body was sky-blue.

Along its back were delicate, velvety fin-like whiskers, which swayed with extraordinary agility at her slightest thought.

Her control over it was still a little unpracticed.

No wonder that previous strike had stung so fiercely—it was a divine dragon’s tail!

Her eyes lit up, a thrill coursing through her.

She hadn’t expected to awaken as a Divine Dragon!

This broke the curse of being an eighteen-year-old without an ability or with a useless one, marking a successful reversal of her fate!

Suddenly, her nose stung, and her eyes welled up.

Was she too excited?

No.

The Divine Dragon race was the leader of the Beastkind! The supreme masters of magic!

Those who awakened as Divine Dragons possessed physical prowess dozens of times greater than ordinary people.

This should have meant that her mundane life would experience a ripple, perhaps even leading to her winning over a beautiful, wealthy goddess and reaching the pinnacle of life in this era dominated by abilities.

Unfortunately, she had turned into a girl…

As a female Divine Dragon, she couldn’t imagine any use for herself beyond being a plushie.

As the leader of the Beastkind, before she could fully mature, her powerful bloodline would make her a target of covetous eyes from all sides.

To live well, she would have to conceal her identity.

Ugh…

Lost in thought, she suddenly remembered something.

She lifted her right hand and reached down.

“Phew, good, it’s gone…”

She exhaled a long breath, her emotions a complicated mix.

She missed the ‘big treasure’ that had accompanied her for so many years, yet she didn’t wish for it to actually still be there.

Becoming a girl was acceptable, but becoming a ‘hermaphrodite’… she’d rather not.

In the narrow bathroom, a beautiful young female dragon stared blankly at her reflection.

She was Lan Nuo.

She wore a stunning gown of blue scales, a creation of her own making.

The demon race possessed the innate ability to conjure their attire.

The six o’clock alarm had long been silenced.

Yet, she had remained rooted before the mirror for a full half-hour.

Her reflection revealed a visage of breathtaking beauty.

A slender waist, delicate shoulders, and a captivating bosom that could mesmerize anyone.

Only her eyes, tinged with red, betrayed a hint of weariness.

Her long hair was a striking blend of blue and white, her pupils a celestial azure.

Pale blue dragon horns stretched elegantly backward, branching into delicate antlers.

Her dragon tail swayed gracefully, vibrant and light.

Her entire being exuded an ethereal beauty, almost too perfect to be real.

She seemed like a character stepped out of an anime—vivid and flawless.

Lan Nuo gazed at her reflection, lost in thought, unable to resist pinching her flawlessly smooth cheek, savoring its delicate, supple wonder.

After her ablutions, she stood in the room, closing her eyes to meditate and circulate her demonic energy.

Within seconds, a pool of clear water materialized from thin air.

It transformed into flowing ribbons, encircling Lan Nuo from below, encasing her within a shimmering cocoon of water.

When she opened her eyes again, the water cocoon instantly shattered and broke apart, cascading down with a gentle splash.

Her dragon horns and tail likewise dissolved into clear water, falling away with the scattered droplets, returning to nothingness.

She turned, and in the mirror, her reflection now showed blue and white hair, but no horns or tail.

She looked remarkably like a human who had awakened a special ability.

‘Excellent,’ she thought, nodding with satisfaction, her eyes gleaming.

From this day forward, she would embark on a new life.

Lan Nuo no longer existed; she was now Lan Ruobing.
