Chapter 10 : Memory Gap I

“Charlotte…! Huff….!”

After the battle, I headed to where Aurel was waiting, and she looked at me in shock.

Her reaction was probably because of this guy.

I shook the upper body of the male player, who was now just a torso.

Even though I was only 145 cm tall, I could still shake the body of someone who had lost their lower half.

“Is he… not dead?”

“No, he’s alive.”

I threw the male player’s torso in front of Aurel.

Amazingly, he was still alive despite losing his lower half.

Of course, he wouldn’t survive long if left like this.

“Aurel.”

“Yes!”

“Get some medicine and bandages from the backpack.”

“Got it!”

Though I hadn’t prepared for this situation, the bandages and potions we had packed came in handy. I began treating the human player’s body with the items Aurel brought. This treatment was only temporary, just to stop the bleeding.

Unlike vampires, humans couldn’t regenerate severed limbs.

“Eek…”

Aurel, watching from the side, looked horrified, but I had no choice.

I knew it was a terrible thing to do to a living person, but I needed to keep him alive to get information.

“Hmm…”

After finishing the treatment, I nodded, admiring my work.

The bandages around the severed area were stained red, but the bleeding seemed to have stopped. His twisted expression had relaxed a bit, indicating his condition was improving.

I slung the player’s torso over my shoulder and moved to a suitable building.

I was worried about whether I could do this well.

I never imagined that I, a regular office worker, would end up torturing and interrogating people.

Who could have predicted this?

Of course, now I’m a vampire.

I didn’t need any special tools for interrogation.

As a vampire, a species far superior to humans, my entire body was a weapon.

Even these small claws could inflict enough pain.

I started waking the player by tapping his face.

“Wake up.”

Tap- Tap-

After several light taps, he didn’t regain consciousness easily, indicating he needed a stronger shock.

I clenched my fist and struck his face.

Thud-!

A heavy sound followed, and blood trickled from his nose.

“Ugh…”

He woke up.

The player, groaning and bleeding from his nose, began to move his eyelids.

“Are you awake?”

“Ugh, ugh…”

Not fully conscious yet?

I tapped his cheek again.

“What, what… what’s going on…!”

Finally, the player started to react.

He blinked several times and looked around in confusion.

“Where… where am I…”

“Hello.”

I waved at him at the right moment, leaning in close.

“Gasp, gasp!”

Is this guy really a level 20 player?

His emotions kept changing, indicating he was using a skill, but the emotion of [fear] hadn’t disappeared.

In this state, conversation seemed impossible.

I clenched my fist again and delivered a strong punch to his head.

Thud!

“Ugh!”

A heavy impact sound.

The sensation traveling through my hand was quite thrilling.

The player, hit by my powerful punch, let out a short scream and tightly closed his eyes.

He seemed to realize his situation, becoming more subdued.

I spoke to him in a calm voice.

“Hello.”

No response, but we made eye contact.

His eyes darted around, as if looking for an opportunity, still thinking his lower half was intact.

I clicked my tongue and spoke.

“I have a few questions. Can you answer them?”

“If I answer, will you let me live?”

“Hmm…”

I crossed my arms and tilted my head.

I could let him live.

But could he survive in this world without his lower half?

Facing werewolves, vampires, or hybrids, he wouldn’t stand a chance.

“I can let you live.”

His eyes lit up at my answer.

Living was better than dying, after all.

With him ready to answer, it was time to ask my questions.

“You know the shop NPCs, right?”

“I do…”

“Are there shops in other locations?”

“…Yes.”

“Hmm. Can you tell me where they are?”

The human player began to spill everything I asked.

From him, I learned there were three more shop locations besides this one.

Of course, I couldn’t trust all the information he gave me.

I continued questioning him for a long time, waiting for the right moment.

“How many people are in your faction?”

“Seventy…”

His demeanor had softened a bit.

He was relaxing.

I sighed lightly and spoke again.

“Can you repeat the locations of the shop NPCs?”

“I already told you…”

I showed my sharp claws to the human player, who was about to argue.

I knew I had already asked this question.

“Seoul… and…”

I folded my arms and waited for his answer.

The first regions he mentioned were Seoul, Incheon, and Seosan.

If those answers were true, this one should come out smoothly too.

“Pocheon…”

“And the next?”

“Military…”

A different answer from the first.

He was lying.

“Shall I ask again?”

My patience wasn’t particularly long.

And neither was my shadow’s.

The shadow at my feet writhed and spread out.

I petted the shadow and repeated my earlier question.

The player’s answers varied slightly each time.

When the interrogation reached over an hour, the exhausted player cautiously spoke up.

“Uh, excuse me.”

“What?”

“I need to go to the bathroom…”

“Bathroom?”

I tilted my head in confusion.

How could he go to the bathroom without his lower half?

“So, could you untie me… at least my legs…”

The man trailed off, looking down at his body.

He stared at the bandages wrapped around his waist, then tilted his head.

“Huh…?”

The player seemed to realize his situation, staring blankly.

He blinked and looked at me.

“This, this is…?”

The player began writhing, as if trying to move his lower half.

Of course, his severed lower half wouldn’t return.

“Ah… Ah… Aaaah…!”

The player screamed, looking down at his body.

The scent of blood indicated his emotional state was far from normal.

I turned away silently.

It seemed we couldn’t continue the conversation.

“Uh, excuse me, Charlotte…”

“What?”

“Are you not going to eat that human…?”

“Do you want to eat him?”

“Yes…!”

Aurel’s eyes sparkled like a puppy waiting for its meal.

If I said ‘eat,’ she would pounce immediately.

I checked my condition.

The wounds from the bomb earlier had healed completely after consuming the lower half, so there was no problem giving Aurel the upper half.

“Eat.”

“Ah…!”

As soon as I spoke, Aurel lunged at the human player.

She raised her cute hands and struck the human player’s chest with all her might.

“Yap!”

AAHHH!

The cute shout was followed by a chilling sound.

“Ugh!”

The human player, struck by Aurel, writhed in pain, but all he could do was squirm.

“UFFFF!”

AAHHH!

“UFFFF!”

AAHHH!

Aurel had to strike the human player’s chest several more times.

For a level 12 Aurel, a level 20 human player was too tough.

Aurel’s feeding was a grotesque sight.

Covered in blood, she plunged her hands into the human player’s chest.

She sucked the blood until the human player’s upper body became a dried-up mummy, then stood up.

“Thank you for the meal!”

“Did you finish?”

“Yes!”

“Then let’s go.”

“Ah, where are we going?”

“Seoul.”

As we were about to leave the building, a brilliant light began to pour in from afar.

The sunlight poured over the darkened city, racing across the landscape.

An instinctive aversion surged within me, causing me to frown.

“The sun is up…”

“Ah…”

Morning had arrived.

Aurel and I would be stuck in this building for the next six hours.

We couldn’t leave until the sun set.

I sighed and moved deeper into the building.

As a vampire, I didn’t need sleep, but it wasn’t impossible for me to sleep either.

How many days had it been since I woke up from the coffin?

I realized I hadn’t slept a wink since I opened my eyes.

“Aurel.”

“Yes!”

“I’m going to sleep for a bit.”

“Ah… You’re going to sleep? Should I give you a lap pillow?”

Not worth answering.

I glanced at Aurel’s thighs, then threw my backpack on the floor and lay down on it.

Aurel cautiously watched Charlotte.

An hour had passed since Charlotte curled up on the backpack and fell asleep.

Her even breathing indicated she was in a deep sleep.

Aurel moved stealthily, approaching Charlotte’s head.

A level 20 vampire player who had suddenly appeared and destroyed an entire clan.

While other clan members didn’t welcome Charlotte’s arrival, Aurel liked Charlotte.

She simply liked her. This must be what people mean when they say “love at first sight.”

Lying next to Charlotte, Aurel carefully tied her golden hair with Charlotte’s silver hair.

“Hehe…”

She thought the heart-shaped hair tie looked very cute.

Her smile lasted until Charlotte opened her eyes.
