The woman flew unsteadily back to her estate.
Should I report this to my master or not? she agonized. If she told her, her reputation would plummet for failing to protect a simple meal. But if she didn’t, she would have suffered that ordeal for nothing.
Though it hadn’t been particularly painful—in fact, it was almost pleasant—she would never admit to such a thing. Besides, a quick self-assessment confirmed that her body was still untainted.
Perhaps I can just make up an excuse and ask for another one?
Wasting no time, the woman flew to the base of a tall, thick tree and infused it with her own mana. The great tree trembled three times. A flash of white light revealed an oval-shaped black void, just large enough for a single person to squeeze through. Prying the edges apart with her hands, she carefully stepped inside.
In a hall of simple yet elegant design, a massive, deep-blue dragon was devouring food. Mounds of fruit, dried meats, and snacks were piled high around her.
“My lady, someone requests an audience,” a sharp-looking guard reported.
“Let her in.”
“As you wish.”
A moment later, the woman entered with faltering steps, her calves trembling uncontrollably.
“My lady, the Biter Chicken you gifted me was stewed into a most delicious soup. This humble servant wishes to savor its taste once more.”
“Hmm…” the dragon rumbled. “The feed I gave that fowl was infused with my own mana. If you had truly eaten it, your body would carry my unique magical signature. Why is it that I cannot sense it?”
Hearing this, the woman’s body trembled. Her heart hammered in her chest as cold sweat beaded on her brow.
“Confess and you may receive leniency. Tell me the truth, or else… hmph.”
The woman dared not hide anything further and poured out the entire story—sparing, of course, the humiliating details of her ‘punishment.’
Upon hearing the tragic tale of her prized food being stolen, the great dragon flew into a rage. This was, after all, a direct insult to her. She swore she would teach this insolent whelp a lesson, staking her very reputation on it.
She was, after all, one of the world’s supreme powerhouses, a master of Super-Tier Magic. The number of experts in the world who could wield such magic could be counted on two hands. It was highly unlikely she would run into another one; surely her luck couldn’t be that bad.
With her resolve hardened, she stepped through a portal, gripping the woman in her left claw to serve as a guide as she flew swiftly toward her destination.
Before long, a villa appeared before her. Had she not seen it with her own eyes, she never would have imagined someone living in seclusion in such a place.
Could they be one of my own kind? she wondered.
No matter who it was, she would have her justice today—and perhaps plunder some food while she was at it.
Meanwhile, Hillisa sensed a murderous aura approaching and immediately reported it to her master. Just as Liyahiss was pondering who it could possibly be…
“ROOOAR—!”
A thunderous roar ripped through the air, shattering the villa’s glass windows.
Everything happened so suddenly that she had no time to think. She leaped out of a shattered window, and upon landing, her eyes fell upon the colossal creature before her.
Her expression tightened, and she didn’t dare relax for even a moment.
Her mind, however, was already racing: Xiao Xi, run an analysis on this dragon’s identity and power level.
