“First, tell me how to annul this marriage contract.”
Bai Wanwan gazed at the marriage contract in her hand. No matter how she tried to destroy it, it would reappear perfectly intact on her dressing table a mere second later. Bai Wanwan even mused, ‘Could this thing be the endless energy source that Seer has been unable to locate?’
Tossed into a furnace, it would burn to ashes only to materialize anew, a veritable industrial miracle. ‘Could the future of humanity truly hinge on this single marriage contract?’ Of course, these were merely Bai Wanwan’s wild fantasies. She wanted nothing to do with this marriage contract; marrying a female ghost felt truly cursed.
“You die… or I die.”
Liu Hanzhi, the young female ghost, hesitated for a moment, lightly tapping her fingers as she spoke in a soft voice. Her appearance seemed utterly adorable, yet Bai Wanwan’s fists were clenched tight.
“After all, this is a human-ghost contract. A contract only forms when there’s a human and a ghost. If you were to become a ghost, this marriage contract would no longer be valid.”
Liu Hanzhi explained in a whisper, completely oblivious to the throbbing blue veins on Bai Wanwan’s fair forehead.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
Liu Hanzhi watched Bai Wanwan begin to stretch her limbs, startled.
Bai Wanwan had no intention of explaining anything. She raised her small, pink fist, the size of a sandbag, and aimed a direct blow at Liu Hanzhi’s head. To her astonishment, her fist passed directly through Liu Hanzhi’s body.
The initially frightened Liu Hanzhi immediately brightened upon realizing that Bai Wanwan couldn’t touch her.
“Haha, I forgot! I’m a ghost, and you’re a human. It’s already surprising for a ghost that you can even see me; if you could touch me, that would be utterly preposterous.”
Liu Hanzhi wiggled slightly. Although she still couldn’t move without the Immortal-Binding Talisman being removed, at least Bai Wanwan could only immobilize her. As a human, Bai Wanwan had no way of making physical contact. ‘Now her life was safe.’
In Liu Hanzhi’s estimation, the Immortal-Binding Talisman was an incredibly rare charm. A single person might spend an entire lifetime, pouring all their effort into it, just to master it. The Immortal-Binding Talisman, true to its name, was brutally straightforward; even an immortal, upon encountering this charm, would be trapped and unable to move, just like Liu Hanzhi. Considering all this, Liu Hanzhi believed Bai Wanwan had reached her limit. She couldn’t believe that someone as young as Bai Wanwan could not only wield the Immortal-Binding Talisman but also master other charms. ‘Even if she did possess other charms, it was impossible for her to have one that could make contact with ghosts…’
Before Liu Hanzhi could even finish her overly confident internal monologue, she saw Bai Wanwan, a peculiar talisman affixed to her forehead, reaching out with a vibrant, almost ethereal touch. With a swift motion, she lifted Liu Hanzhi’s blood-red wedding dress, revealing a startling crimson between Liu Hanzhi’s pale thighs, and a look of astonishment crossed her face.
“Even this is red?”
“Sto—stop! Stop it!”
Liu Hanzhi desperately wanted to pull down her skirt, but she was completely under the control of the Immortal-Binding Talisman, utterly helpless like meat on a chopping block.
“Your wedding dress looks like… intimate apparel. No undergarments? Even a ghost should be mindful of accidental exposure, you know.”
Bai Wanwan blew on the talisman dangling from her forehead, her eyes glinting with amusement as she observed the mortified and panicked Liu Hanzhi.
“Now, perhaps you’d like to properly explain to me how this marriage contract can be annulled?”
“Otherwise, next time, I won’t be content with merely lifting your skirt.”
“Little ghost girl, you wouldn’t want me to get handsy with you, would you?”
Bai Wanwan’s expression at that moment was so wicked it would make even a ghost shudder. Compared to Liu Hanzhi, Bai Wanwan now resembled a true demon, one who devoured people whole without leaving a trace.
“No, no! There’s a way, there’s another way!”
“A human-ghost contract, it only forms with both a human and a ghost. If I could reincarnate and become human, the contract would naturally be dissolved!”
Liu Hanzhi was truly terrified.
“I’ve told you that method… Could you please put my skirt down now? It’s… so cold, boohoo.”
