Tyrant

Chapter 107 • 1,168 words • 10 min read

In the morning, after a quick bite, the entire convoy lined up, ready to depart.

Leaving a garrison to establish an outpost, equipped with a military truck and radio to contact the base, the convoy set off again.

The weather was decent, still cloudy, but the fog had lifted.

In the apocalypse, this was excellent weather.

The Kamaz led the way, speeding along due to the improved visibility, tearing through the swarming zombies with its cone-shaped front.

After a long period of aggressive driving, the entire front of the truck was covered in blackish-red congealed blood! Coupled with the menacing black armor, it exuded an increasingly savage power.

Perhaps this was a true apocalyptic war machine.

The road the convoy traveled was littered with flattened corpses.

Most of the thirty-plus vehicles were large military trucks, and almost no zombie could survive being crushed under them.

However, the massive convoy also attracted thousands of zombies, following in its wake. Though they were slowly left behind, they would never lose direction, guided by the scent of humans.

Unless the scent completely dissipated in a day or two.

Half an hour later, they reached the edge of A City.

The convoy entered a small mountain village, stopping for a brief rest.

Many operatives jumped out to clear nearby zombies, gunshots echoing sporadically through the countryside.

In the driver’s seat of the Kamaz, the girl playfully crossed her legs, propping her chin with one hand, carefully studying a map in the other, planning their route.

They had to go to that lab, but should they go now or after completing the mission?

No… her loss of reason was accelerating; she couldn’t wait any longer. First, to the lab, then the mission!

The lab was less than a hundred kilometers away.

Ping Chengcheng frowned slightly. In that case, tonight’s goal was set: establish a supply line camp near the lab!

After a ten-minute break, the convoy set off again.

But the closer they got to A City, the more uneasy Ping Chengcheng felt.

Sitting in the passenger seat, she observed the number of zombies in the vicinity.

In just a short while, at least several hundred zombies appeared nearby. Though they couldn’t catch up to the convoy, it still demonstrated the extraordinary nature of A City.

Perhaps the Chimera Composite Zombie was still attracting zombies from the surrounding areas, but why hadn’t the A City base dealt with it yet? Did they think it wasn’t a threat?

The Chimera Composite Zombie wasn’t fully developed; the primary goal should be to kill it! It was just a matter of a few missiles!

Wait…

Thinking of this, the girl’s expression turned grim.

It was still the early days of the apocalypse; even if the A City base was powerful, they might not have many missiles. As for nuclear weapons? Impossible, unless humanity was truly on the verge of extinction, hopeless, or the A City base was about to be destroyed, would they use such an ultimate weapon.

And there was one crucial point. Whether the base even had nuclear weapons was another question!

In her previous life, Ping Chengcheng had never heard of any base having such things! At least, not in China.

The neighboring Russian country had reportedly used a nuclear bomb to eliminate a Chimera Composite Zombie.

“Roar!”

The zombies’ howls echoed in the silence.

The massive convoy pressed on without stopping, heading towards the lab in A City.

But as soon as they entered A City, the number of zombies ahead increased dramatically.

In the distance was the entrance to A City’s urban area. Currently, the convoy had just driven from the countryside into the suburbs, an area of semi-developed industrial ruins.

But the number of zombies was shockingly high, to an outrageous degree!

As if following some mysterious call, they slowly moved in the same direction. Hearing the convoy’s approach, they were like people suddenly awakened from sleep, stretching their decaying heads and peering around, issuing guttural roars.

Seeing the long convoy, the city seemed to come alive!

The zombies’ howls spread like waves, rising and falling, transmitted in a radial pattern from the suburbs. Large swaths of zombies charged madly towards the convoy!

Behind various tall buildings, inside buildings, countless zombie hordes emerged!

Among them were even dozens of Special Infected!

Suddenly, the earth seemed to tremble.

The zombie swarms were just an appetizer; five two-story-tall, massive monsters covered in cold, gleaming black armor, like small mountains! Appeared from the distant urban area! The armor on their bodies seemed to be grown directly from their bodies!

They roared, their green eyes radiating terrifying ferocity!

Their massive feet crushed the ground!

One of them, appearing to be three stories tall, had bulging muscles that stretched the armor on its body to a huge size!

Sequence-3! Special Infected, Tyrant!

“Thump! Thump! Thump!”

The heavy footsteps made the world seem to tremble!

“All units, prepare to engage! This zombie horde…”

“Will be a difficult win!”

Operatives poured out of the military trucks, standing on the cracked highway, trembling as they watched the hordes of zombies, numbering in the thousands, and the five Tyrants exuding savage and terrifying auras!

Instantly, the entire convoy was in chaos, with various arguments and shouts erupting.

“No, these zombies, how is this possible? Did you see the armor on their bodies?!”

“Bullets definitely won’t penetrate it!”

Ye Yin gritted his teeth, a drop of cold sweat running down his forehead, as he quietly looked at the girl standing calmly on the roof of the Kamaz.

Beside the girl stood a young woman completely covered in exoskeleton armor, standing tall and straight.

“Entering [Biohazard Mode].”

The young woman’s voice was cold and tinged with battle intent.

The girl asked with a relaxed smile, “Sister, which one will you take care of later?”

Hidden inside the helmet, the young woman’s eyes were sharp.

“Except for the biggest one, I’ll handle the rest.”

The girl smirked and nodded slightly as the zombie horde crashed towards them like a tsunami, engulfing them in dust. She laughed in an extremely bewitching voice.

“Then, I’ll take care of the biggest one!”

Hearing Ping Chengcheng’s words, Ye Yin surprisingly calmed down.

“Could it be that these two can beat those exaggerated Special Infected?!”

These Special Infected seemed much stronger than the pursuers they encountered last night!

Ye Yin took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He turned back and roared at the chaotic operatives, “All of you, shut the hell up!”

“What’s all the noise! They’re just taller and bigger, right?!

No matter what, we have firearms in our hands!”

“Open fire!”

Following Ye Yin’s words, the entire convoy indeed quieted down, showing that Ye Yin had a good reputation within the base.

Ping Chengcheng smiled faintly.

“Special Operations Team, remember to clear the other Special Infected, those Tyrants…”

“Leave them to Sister and me!”

As soon as the words fell, Song Ning had already turned into a shooting star and shot out.
