A piercing shriek startled Gu Yulong, who was currently grilling meat. He shifted his gaze towards a nearby bush, then turned his head back with a puzzled expression.
“Where’s your brother?”
“Huh?”
Lin Yiting’s face flushed with an awkward expression. Gu Yulong’s sudden question caught her completely off guard. However, his prompt seemed to trigger a memory.
When Lin Yi was hit by the snowball earlier, he must have suspected Gu Yuetong and gone to confront her.
“Well, my brother must have gone to… he went to…”
Lin Yiting stammered, unable to formulate an explanation for Gu Yulong. She couldn’t possibly tell him, ‘I hit my brother, and now my brother has gone to seek revenge on your sister,’ could she?
Unable to speak, Lin Yiting watched as Gu Yulong’s face darkened, and he rose from his seat. Naturally, Lin Yiting had to follow him; she needed to be prepared if he were to do anything to Lin Yi.
However, by the time they arrived, Lin Yi was already pinned to the ground by Gu Yuetong, utterly unable to resist.
Lin Yi hadn’t anticipated that Gu Yuetong would be in the restroom just then. He had nearly seen something he shouldn’t have.
As for why he was pinned to the ground, that story began the moment she pulled up her pants.
A few minutes prior, Gu Yuetong had stood up, her face crimson. This was her first time being seen in such a state by a member of the opposite s*x. Her heart swelled with shame and fury, making her wish she could devour the disrespectful man before her whole.
Even if Lin Yi was incredibly handsome and quite captivating to Gu Yuetong, it didn’t give a stranger the right to see her like that. If word got out, her best friends would surely tease her for months.
Thus, with a murderous intent, Gu Yuetong seized Lin Yi and quickly pinned him firmly to the ground.
Feeling the frantic pulse in his neck, Gu Yuetong steeled her heart. The hand gripping Lin Yi’s throat began to tighten its hold.
Just as Lin Yi felt himself on the verge of suffocation, Lin Yiting and Gu Yulong arrived. Seeing them, Gu Yuetong’s grip on Lin Yi loosened slightly.
Seizing this opportunity, Lin Yi gasped for fresh air, his fading consciousness finally beginning to return.
“Sister Gu, Sister Gu, I truly didn’t mean to. I thought you threw that snowball, so I…”
“Are you out of your mind? Couldn’t you tell I was in the restroom?”
Gu Yuetong’s emotions were exceptionally agitated, causing her to unconsciously increase the force in her hand. This frightened Lin Yi into quickly shutting his mouth.
Both Gu Yulong and Lin Yiting were somewhat at a loss for words upon witnessing the scene. They had initially thought Lin Yi had done something to Gu Yuetong, but it now appeared that Gu Yuetong had completely overwhelmed him. Even Lin Yiting, who was usually fiercely protective of her younger brother, didn’t know what to say.
After forcibly pulling Gu Yuetong off Lin Yi, the group returned to the campsite. By now, the barbecue flames were roaring, scorching most of the meat.
Seeing this, Gu Yulong quickly threw some snow onto the fire to suppress the intense flames.
Once the fire had subsided somewhat, Gu Yulong fixed his gaze on Lin Yi.
Lin Yi felt a shiver run down his spine under that stare, as if he were being targeted by a ferocious beast. Nevertheless, he steeled himself and recounted the entire incident.
Upon hearing the explanation, everyone present was left somewhat amused and exasperated.
Lin Yiting, in particular, made no attempt to hide her smile, laughing heartily.
Hearing her laughter, Lin Yi’s face immediately darkened. He suddenly knew who had thrown that snowball at him earlier.
“What are you laughing at, you old hag! Take this giant snowball!”
With that, Lin Yi scooped up a handful of snow and hurled it at Lin Yiting’s face.
However, Lin Yiting was not so easily hit. As if prepared, she dodged Lin Yi’s snowball with a swift movement.
“What’s wrong with me laughing these days? Am I not allowed?”
Lin Yiting pouted, feigning injury, only to be met with another snowball.
Seeing that Lin Yi wasn’t falling for her act, Lin Yiting also grabbed snow from the ground and threw it at him, each shot landing squarely. Lin Yi was left dizzy from her assault; before he could even reload his own ammunition, another snowball struck him squarely on the head. This infuriated Lin Yi. Being misunderstood was one thing, but he couldn’t even defeat the true culprit.
“Just you wait, Sister!”
In a fit of pique, Lin Yi ran further away. Lin Yiting, her playful spirit ignited, grabbed two snowballs and immediately gave chase.
Watching them play so happily, Gu Yuetong couldn’t help but feel a pang of loneliness. She had loved snowball fights as a child, but due to changes in her environment, she had few friends now. Moreover, the girls she knew were all too delicate and would never engage in such rough play. Her memories of snowball fights were still stuck in her childhood.
Noticing the longing in his sister’s eyes, Gu Yulong sighed helplessly.
“Yuetong, if you want to play, go ahead. Opportunities like this don’t come often.”
“Yay!”
With her brother’s permission, Gu Yuetong mimicked Lin Yi, scooping up a snowball from the ground and joining Lin Yi and Lin Yiting.
Watching his sister run off, Gu Yulong smiled contentedly. He actually envied the relationship Lin Yi and Lin Yiting shared. However, his family circumstances at the time hadn’t allowed him such freedom; he could only rely on his own abilities to make his way in society.
If not for that unfortunate incident, his relationship with his sister would likely have been similar to theirs.
‘How wonderful,’ he thought.
Meanwhile, just as Lin Yi had finished stockpiling his ammunition, Lin Yiting charged at him with a snowball.
Lin Yi, of course, didn’t hesitate. He grabbed a snowball and threw it at her head. However, with Lin Yiting’s agility, hitting her with these snowballs proved to be a difficult task.
Before long, Lin Yiting had closed the distance, now less than ten meters from Lin Yi on the snowy ground. If he couldn’t hit her from a distance, close combat would be even harder. Lin Yi grabbed a few snowballs, turned, and ran. He hadn’t taken more than a few steps when a massive snowball suddenly exploded above his head.
The scattered snowflakes drifted onto Lin Yi, recreating the scene of a fresh snowfall. The very next second, another snowball struck him directly on the back of his head, sending Lin Yi flying.
The first snowball Gu Yuetong threw had hit a tree branch just above Lin Yi’s head. After a brief adjustment, her second throw successfully landed on his head.
Lin Yi lay on the ground, rubbing the back of his head. He felt that hit had a bit of personal animosity behind it.
Struggling to his feet, Lin Yi saw the two girls high-fiving each other, which sent a chill through his heart. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Lin Yiting and Gu Yuetong were becoming increasingly close. He couldn’t even beat Lin Yiting, and now Gu Yuetong had joined her. Lin Yi had no choice but to flee.
“Why are you running? Are you even a man?”
Gu Yuetong stood behind him, hands on her hips, looking exceptionally arrogant. Lin Yi wanted to retort, but he dared not turn back, fearing he’d be knocked down by another snowball.
‘Damn it, who said running isn’t manly? This is called a tactical retreat, don’t you understand?’ he grumbled inwardly, then plunged into the windbreak forest. Seeing this, the two girls followed without hesitation.
