Morning Rituals and Classroom Bonds

Chapter 11 • 1,027 words • 9 min read

A single sleep to wash away a thousand worries—that’s exactly the kind of little sister described here.

Opening my eyes, the first thing I saw was my sister sitting on top of my blanket. Her hair cascaded like a waterfall over my cheeks, tickling me slightly. Her blushing face was so delicate it looked like it might break at a touch, making me want to pinch it. A faint smile lingered on her face, dreamlike and ethereal.

“Big bro~ Good morning~”

“Good morning. Ha~”

I yawned and looked at my sister.

Hmm? Today’s ability was a bit special. Since it was an ability that allowed me to see affection levels, for everyone I knew—even those I’d just met—a string of numbers would appear above their heads, indicating how much they liked me. The maximum was 100, the minimum 0.

Let me explain: using affection levels to describe real-life relationships, it roughly went like this: 100 meant a lifelong friendship or a relationship lasting until old age. 80 meant a friendly relationship where you’d have each other’s back. 60 meant you could greet each other amiably. 40 meant a casual greeting. 20 meant you’d start arguing the moment you met. 0 meant you wanted to kill each other on sight.

So my sister was terrifying—because above her head wasn’t a number, but three question marks. I’d heard that when affection overflowed, that’s how it appeared.

“Hehe, big bro’s affection for me is still 100. So happy~” My sister covered her blushing cheeks with her hands, speaking shyly as she looked at my face.

“That’s normal for twins.”

“Then what’s big bro’s affection level for me~”

“Same as before—three question marks.”

“That goes without saying~ How could my love for big bro be described with numbers~”

For the record, ever since we developed our own thoughts, we’d known we had abilities. At the same time, we knew we were different from ordinary people—we had powers they didn’t. So from the start, we’d kept our abilities well hidden; there had never been a leak.

“Then~ Big bro, I’ll go make breakfast~”

“Okay.”

Watching my sister gracefully climb off the bed, her cute lace nightgown fluttering, she looked completely innocent and charming. But… Sigh. To avoid getting zapped by the electric shock device, I had to endure sharing a bed with her. Not that I was unhappy—I wasn’t an idiot. What man would refuse to sleep with such a seductive sister?

Still, I had to hold back my heavy breathing and suppress the sound of swallowing. It was really exhausting.

I got out of bed, opened my phone, and played a popular mobile game: Astral Magic Academy. The characters in this game not only had pleasant voices but were also incredibly cute—suitable for all ages. I absolutely loved it! The only downside was that the microtransactions were a bit expensive. That was one reason Zhang Zhibo and I were always broke. Forget the Christmas skin… If I spent money on Christmas, I’d castrate myself on stream!

After a warm and wonderful breakfast, we left the house and arrived at school.

Classroom

When I walked into the classroom and sat down, a bunch of students were already gathered around, chatting and laughing. After putting down my backpack, I spotted a familiar figure coming in through the back door.

“Brother Zhibo! You’re finally here!” Looking at the dark circles under his eyes, I couldn’t help feeling sympathetic.

“Yeah! I’m back! Brother Huaimo!” Zhibo saw me and eagerly grabbed my hand, the number 100 above his head shining brightly. Even though yesterday he’d said, “We’re different, different,” he was still as good to me as ever! Truly inseparable brothers!

“The car gods are finally reunited. Lunch okay?” Comrade Zeguo walked over with the number 81 above his head. Oh! Seeing that number moved me deeply. ‘It seemed everyone was treating me pretty well!’

“Great! We can pick up some good stuff again!”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“Congratulations on the car gods’ reunion.”

Three freeloading guys overheard and came over, but… Huh? Wait. I saw those freeloaders carrying only around 50 affection points—barely enough for a casual greeting. Oh my god! ‘Were drivers really that unpopular these days?! The two of us car gods, along with one rookie truck driver, worked hard every day to screen resources, even buying a lot just so they could learn from our spirit and eventually take over our workload. And this is how we’re repaid!!!’

Sigh. Only a driver knows the hardship of driving. We even taught them step by step how to download resources. It’s really tough for us; hard work doesn’t always yield good results. Sigh. Please treat every old driver well—you never know when they’ll leave you.

“I’ve already sent the resources to Zeguo. Ask him for them. Zhibo and I will team up during lunch break. Okay, Comrade Zeguo.”

“No problem! Car god! I am grateful for your favor and will repay it a hundredfold. The day my driving skills mature is the day you will look at me with new eyes!”

“Great poem, great poem! May your driving career flow smoothly, and may you be loved and respected all your life.”

“Thank you for your kindness, car god. Driving is as hard as climbing to the sky, but I will endure humiliation and achieve the realm you have reached!”

“Excellent! A gentleman’s future is bright! Truly a promising talent!” Zhibo clapped incessantly from the side, his face full of joy.

“Thanks, thanks.”

After showing off our literary refinement, we burst into hearty laughter. Finding a thousand drinks too few with a bosom friend, sweet words warming my heart like spring—that’s exactly the sentiment behind our driving camaraderie!

“Not only do the car owners have lots of resources, but their words are also so cultured!”

“It feels like the car owners are sworn brothers.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

The class bell soon rang amid our banter. Alas, there is no eternal banquet, no eternal gathering—only eternal friendship. After years on Mount Akina, we had long since ingrained this understanding. Raising a glass in toast meant the next reunion.

Cheers to the camaraderie of old drivers everywhere!
