“Although I don’t know how you figured it out, Mr. Euclid, everything you said just now was correct.
Ever since I was taken in by the young lady’s family, I’ve been experiencing strange things…”
“At first, whenever I went out to shop, I’d always run into strangely dressed elderly men and women who would stop me and try to force books into my hands—books I couldn’t understand at all.
I didn’t dare take them, and they would chase after me.
Why are they so fast when they’re just grandpas and grandmas!?”
“Recently, they’ve started following me.
Sometimes when I wake up, I find lots of books beside my pillow.
I was so scared, I burned them all in secret…”
Very soon, surprised by how I “guessed right,” Nilu began spilling all of her frightening experiences with a helpless, rabbit-like expression.
It was clear that she and Kafiel were close, and the next moment, Kafiel gently hugged Nilu and comforted her, softly rubbing her back.
“Listen up, Euclid. This might be a little subjective, but Nilu really is unlucky.
She always gets tangled up with suspicious middle-aged strangers.
One reason I brought her here was actually to help her avoid those encounters.
Don’t worry, Nilu. As long as I’m around, I’ll protect you.”
“Milady…”
“Euclid, Euclid! She’s done explaining already, can you stop staring at her like some creepy perv?”
“Milady, she’s the one staring at us. Ugh, it’s my first time being this close to a young man… I’m so nervous…”
Ah~ The citrus scent, Kafiel’s protagonist aura, the dainty and delicate Nilu—it’s the perfect setup. So classy!
But I… wasn’t in the mood to enjoy the heartwarming sight of two beautiful girls hugging.
Because: this busty maid’s situation wasn’t just “bad luck.” And her appearance… wasn’t any kind of “benefit” for me either.
As the saying goes, when heaven gives someone a great task, it first torments their mind and body.
No car, no house, dead parents, wandering life, hidden powers—those are the “protagonist traits” that come up in stories of dramatic revenge.
And Nilu? She checks every box.
What’s worse is… she actually survived it all!
And the final line of that old proverb? “They are tested in all things.” Nilu’s version of that test is what she calls her “unlucky encounters with suspicious old people”—but to a protagonist, that’s just… a classic plot twist encounter!
Her background and experiences scream main character, especially the kind with a tragic vendetta.
And those impressive proportions… I thought it was just fanservice at first, but now? No way she’s just there for eye candy!
In a world this big, it’s not impossible for multiple protagonists to exist.
Besides Kafiel’s blessed “chosen one” story, others could appear too. But here’s the real problem:
As the villain Euclid, the only real protagonist who ensures my survival… is Kafiel!
So what about the others!?
I immediately began flipping through Nilu’s “script” in my mind, but the ending was painfully clear.
[Nilu will kill Euclid.]
I freaking knew it!
Any character with decent screen time ends up killing me unless it’s Kafiel!
Give me some details!
[Nilu stabs Euclid to death with a single strike.]
[With a swift turn, Nilu slashes through Euclid, ending his life.]
[Though reluctant, Nilu knew the man must die. With a heavy heart, she drew her blade…]
Oh great, now the script is getting poetic!?
“Euclid, what’s wrong?”
“N-Nothing.”
I shook my head and gave up on digging further into her storyline.
Without knowing the specifics or motivations, there wasn’t much point.
Besides, this was our first real interaction—no surprise it’s still vague.
But one thing was for sure: Nilu will kill me someday.
And her life already proves she’s no minor character.
As time goes on, in this revenge-driven script of hers, she’s going to “level up” more and more—training with old masters, getting mysterious gifts…
Eventually, she’ll be strong enough to kill me with no effort.
At some point, not even hugging Kafiel’s thigh will save me…
I sucked in a cold breath. Kafiel, meanwhile, was clearly delighted by Nilu’s arrival.
I could tell right away—there was no way I’d have any chance of getting her to leave.
On top of that, I still had to watch out for my other absurd death flags and couldn’t give up on clinging to Kafiel.
Which left me only one path: Stay here—and figure out how to avoid being killed by Nilu.
“Nilu, to celebrate your arrival, and… cough, also to celebrate a certain someone finally shedding the title of ‘blacklisted heretic priest,’ let’s make tonight’s dinner a bit more festive.”
“Leave it to me, milady! I’ll go check what ingredients we have.”
Nilu pulled out a big, shiny knife.
I nearly jumped out of my skin and rushed to grab it from her!
“Let me help too!”
“You?” Kafiel looked at me suspiciously, and when she saw me standing shoulder to shoulder with Nilu, she puffed up her cheeks in slight jealousy—not clear who she was jealous of though.
“Hey, priest, you’re not seriously thinking…”
“I’m not! I’ll have you know I used to be famous for my cooking back home—steaming, frying, braising, I’ve mastered them all!”
Yes, I was trying to get close to Nilu—but not for the reason you’re thinking, Kafiel! Please don’t kick me off your thigh!
“I’m your private priest now anyway, right? Let me show off a little today so you don’t think I’m just a freeloader.”
Kafiel blinked, then rolled up her sleeves.
“Then I’ll help too.”
Come, come—everyone’s welcome!
I scooted closer to Nilu, and thanks to the narrow kitchen, I ended up sandwiched tightly between her and Kafiel.
It felt like a dream… but more than anything, I was anxious.
Because right now, I was standing with one foot in paradise—
“Euclid, hand me the knife.”
—and the other in hell.
“Mr. Euclid, do you have any food allergies?”
I had to hang on to Kafiel’s thigh, couldn’t drive Nilu away, and the only way to stop Nilu from “leveling up” and eventually killing me was…
“No, no need for you to do it—I’ll handle the small stuff myself.”
I must stop anything that could give Nilu an upgrade! From mysterious artifacts and elderly mentors to cooking and laundry—I’d intercept it all before she could get stronger.
Yes, this might ruin her script progression, but…
As long as she stays a timid, unlucky maid—even if she’s busty—she won’t be able to kill me, right?
