Miracle from A City

Chapter 111 • 1,200 words • 10 min read

Ultimately forced by the girl’s threat, everyone had no choice but to obey her command and seal their doors and windows.

A negative atmosphere permeated every vehicle in the convoy.

“I’m serious… Damn it! I really don’t know what this operations commander is thinking!” inside an armored vehicle, a member of the intelligence department slammed his fist against the door.

“And Ye Yin! F*ck, and he’s a department head!”

“I’d do a better job as head than him!”

In a corner, Yang Wen sat silently against the wall.

He was the one the girl had casually saved from a Lurker when she first arrived at the S City base.

No matter how hard he thought, Yang Wen couldn’t understand why Ping Chengcheng would give such an order.

Atop the Kamaz.

The girl stood gracefully on the roof of the truck.

Seeing that the entire convoy had followed her instructions, she looked at Song Ning beside her.

“Sister, activate Biohazard Mode.”

Song Ning was slightly stunned, her curiosity growing about what the girl was planning.

At that moment, without the suppressing fire, the zombies surged forward like a tsunami.

“ROAR ROAR ROAR!”

A large group of zombies had already reached the front of the Kamaz!

The engine roared violently, crushing countless zombies beneath its wheels!

But while the Kamaz could handle it, the other armored vehicles and military trucks were not so fortunate!

Dozens of zombies swarmed them, rendering them immobile!

The girl gave a faint smile, placing her arms behind her back.

A winding tentacle extended from her sleeve, revealing a small portion of itself.

It was shaped like a thick straw.

Before long, the sound of gas flowing could be heard from the girl’s arm.

A colorless, odorless gas was spreading in all directions.

It radiated outwards with Ping Chengcheng at the center, its range expanding with the passing of time.

During this time, to everyone’s utter shock, the zombies surrounding the convoy began to retreat on their own accord.

At first, it was just small clusters.

Then, more and more zombies moved away from the convoy!

It was as if there was something in the convoy that they feared!

“ROAR ROAR ROAR!”

Before Ye Yin’s eyes, all the zombies retreated to a distance of over a hundred meters from the convoy!

And they were still slowly moving further away!

What was happening!?

Ye Yin was wearing his exoskeleton armor in Biohazard Mode, so he hadn’t returned inside a vehicle.

He stared in shock at this bizarre scene.

Ping Chengcheng just stood motionless on the roof of the Kamaz.

No one could tell what the girl had done to make the zombies stop their attack.

Only Song Ning had a guess.

“Chengcheng?”

Her expression was strange.

‘The Brain Worm? Didn’t Ping Chengcheng say she didn’t acquire the Brain Worm’s ability?’

‘Why did she have to hide this from me too!?’

‘That’s right… the Brain Worm’s ability is a neurotoxin… and it can cause all sorts of hallucinations. What does Ping Chengcheng want to use it for, that she even has to hide it from me? Why hide it? Is it because she wants to use this ability on me?’

The realization that this theory was highly probable made Song Ning’s heart skip a beat.

‘Yes, with Ping Chengcheng’s possessiveness, that must be the reason! What on earth does she want to do to me with this? Could it be… to control me with this ability?’

She instinctively took a step back, looking at the girl before her as a storm brewed in her heart.

‘I have to find a way to get away from Ping Chengcheng! Even if… even if it affects her love for me, this kind of suffocating love…’

‘But, what if Ping Chengcheng uses her own life to threaten me?’

‘It’s so conflicting… what should I choose!’

‘I’ll just decide when the time comes!’

‘It’ll work out!’

“Wu Sheng, do you hear me? Keep moving forward.”

Seeing the horde retreat, Ping Chengcheng finally sat down lightly on the roof of the Kamaz and gave the order through her walkie-talkie.

In the driver’s cabin, Wu Sheng snapped his fingers and looked at Zheng Zhiyi by the passenger window.

Tears still clung to her eyelashes, but her face was blank with shock.

Wu Sheng smiled.

“See? I told you. Besides, there’s no way Ping Chengcheng would have led us here to die knowing how dangerous it is.”

“She must have thought about how to handle this situation before we even came in.”

Zheng Zhiyi’s mouth hung open, unable to find any words.

Her thoughts drifted back to her brother.

‘If it’s Ping Chengcheng, could she kill that Flesh Worm and save my brother? But Ping Chengcheng said before that she couldn’t defeat the Flesh Worm…’

‘No, even if she could, I doubt Ping Chengcheng would ever agree to my request!’

The entire convoy fell into silence.

Everyone stared out from the small windows of the military trucks and armored vehicles, looking around in a daze.

“Wait? Why aren’t the zombies coming over anymore?!”

“What the f*ck, what did she… what did the Operations Commander do?!”

Someone, thinking himself clever, sneered.

‘Hey, don’t forget, our Operations Commander came to S City from A City! Maybe she has some special way to avoid zombies, huh?’

Was that true?

No one believed it.

Just then, Ye Yin’s voice came through the walkie-talkie.

“Stop guessing. The Operations Commander must have captured the Brain Worm we encountered before and is using its neurotoxin to do this.”

Ye Yin had been racking his brain for a while and had suddenly remembered the Imposter and the Brain Worm from the previous day.

‘That’s right! When I heard Ping Chengcheng say to close all the windows and everything, I should have thought of it!’

But how did Ping Chengcheng manage to tame that Brain Worm and stop it from spraying its toxin everywhere?

Of course, a Brain Worm could not be tamed.

In fact, after their symbiotic Imposter dies, the Brain Worm will also die within two hours.

But the others didn’t know this.

With Ye Yin’s explanation, everything clicked into place for everyone.

They had all read the information on the Imposter and the Brain Worm, and with Ye Yin’s reminder, they immediately remembered.

Someone waved his arm in excitement.

“I knew it… How could Miss Ping, known as the Miracle from A City, possibly make such a foolish decision!”

He had chosen to join the collection team precisely because he had read about Ping Chengcheng’s exploits.

“As expected, the Operations Commander calculated this from the very beginning… Should I say, as expected of the Miracle of A City…”

Everyone was deeply shocked.

The convoy moved slowly, surrounded by the horde, but the zombies always kept their distance.

Ping Chengcheng sat on the roof of the Kamaz, her eyes closed, carefully sensing the energy consumption in her body.

In a low-energy state, she could use this ability for two full days continuously.

Of course, if there were any intense battles that consumed her stamina, the duration would be drastically reduced.

But, it was more than enough…
