Killing Hun Li

Chapter 115 • 1,388 words • 12 min read

Hun Li had truly witnessed the terrifying power of Bai Lan.

Hunmei had once told him that some individuals possessed abilities that severely countered the Soul Clan’s powers, a claim Hun Li had initially dismissed.

Now, however, he had no choice but to believe it.

The Soul Clan’s methods were often tied to malevolent spirits and specters.

The souls of creatures they killed, be they human or beast, were absorbed and became an intrinsic part of their power.

The agonizing screams that had just erupted from Hun Li’s body were those of the humans and beasts he had slain.

Bai Lan heard them too.

This was her second time wielding the Light of Purification, yet when she had faced Hunmei, there hadn’t been such a violent reaction, nor had she heard such ghostly cries from within Hunmei’s body.

“Stop, stop! Quickly withdraw your power!” After enduring for a moment, Hun Li could no longer bear it.

The vengeful spirits and malevolent ghosts sealed within his body were breaking free from their shackles under Bai Lan’s Light of Purification.

As the tormented souls departed his body, the dark energy within Hun Li began to recede.

In less than an instant, not a trace of it remained.

Simultaneously, the Light of Purification’s detrimental effect on Hun Li also vanished.

The dark aura around Hun Li dissipated, and his entire being instantly seemed to normalize.

“This? Impossible! My power? Woman, what have you done to me?” Hun Li could no longer sense any dark energy within himself.

He felt as though he had become an ordinary person.

Having dealt with the rogue, Bai Lan slowly retracted her power, descending to the ground.

She then strode purposefully towards Hun Li, reaching out to grasp his collar and hauling the still-bewildered Hun Li to his feet.

“Isn’t this the outcome you desired? I did warn you that if you didn’t leave, your fate would be identical to Hunmei’s,” Bai Lan sneered with a cold laugh.

Hun Li had initially dismissed Bai Lan, never imagining that she could subdue him so swiftly once she unleashed her abilities.

The radiant light earlier had filled him with utter revulsion, yet he realized its effect wasn’t merely that it rendered his Soul Clan’s innate abilities useless.

“What do you want? Let go of me!” Hun Li’s gaze met Bai Lan’s, and his heart inexplicably tightened.

“What do I want? Your words just now thoroughly disgusted me. So, I’ve decided it’s time for you to learn a lesson,” Bai Lan replied with a faint smile.

However, her smile was far from gentle; it was one that sent a chill down Hun Li’s spine.

After her smile faded, Bai Lan’s expression shifted, becoming menacing and terrifying.

She grabbed Hun Li, slammed him to the ground, and then, facing his head, unleashed a furious barrage of slaps.

“Damn it, who told you to speak such disgusting words to me? I’ve been holding back for far too long, and now, since you want to be my punching bag, I’ll indulge you! Who did I provoke? Is being beautiful an invitation for scoundrels like you to harass me? Do you think I look like that, damn it…” Bai Lan erupted like a hot-tempered individual who had suppressed their fury for too long, finally unleashing it.

The earrings she wore could no longer suppress Bai Lan’s surging emotions.

This ornament had both advantages and disadvantages; its benefit was its ability to calm Bai Lan in critical moments.

Its drawback, however, was that once Bai Lan decided she could no longer endure, the emotions previously suppressed by the earrings would burst forth like a raging flood, released all at once.

Bai Lan had truly been stifled lately.

Since arriving in this world, little had brought her joy.

First, Xue Yue’s memories had plunged her into negativity, then she had become a woman, and subsequently, even Xue Linglong, whom she cherished, had suddenly grown inexplicably strange.

This string of vexing events had overwhelmed her, and she had long felt an urge to strike someone.

Though she usually maintained a semblance of rationality, the man she encountered today shattered her composure with his incessant crude remarks, like a ruffian harassing a respectable woman.

Bai Lan’s fists landed with brutal force.

She pummeled Hun Li’s face countless times, until, with a dull thud, Hun Li… was no more, leaving behind only scattered remnants.

He was the first person Bai Lan had eliminated in the Void Heaven Realm.

This unfortunate fellow had chosen the worst possible person to provoke, foolishly crossing Bai Lan’s path.

Watching Hun Li’s body vanish, Bai Lan, exhausted, sank to the ground.

Meanwhile, in a deeply secluded valley in Eastern Continent, where sunlight rarely touched, resembling a land of the netherworld, an eerie silence usually reigned.

Yet, at this very moment, a piercing roar echoed from within a palace.

“Bastard! Bastard! Bai Lan, you wretched woman! I’ll remember you! You dare to kill me? Just you wait!”

This was the Soul Clan’s ancestral land, the Nine Nether Abyss.

The roaring voice naturally emanated from Hun Li’s true body.

Inside Hun Li’s dwelling, he sat on the ground, his face grotesquely twisted beyond recognition.

His cultivation realm had plummeted from the early Golden Core stage to the peak of the Foundation Establishment realm.

Such a significant drop in cultivation inflicted no small amount of damage, and it would take him a considerable amount of time to recover to the Golden Core realm once more.

Hun Li’s furious roar naturally attracted the attention of the maids and guards outside.

They quickly reported to the Soul Clan’s patriarch.

Soon after, a refined middle-aged man appeared in Hun Li’s residence.

This man seemed unremarkable, much like a scholar, dressed in black brocade robes.

He was Hun Tianyang, the patriarch of the Soul Clan.

“Hun Li, why have you returned from the Void Heaven Realm early? No, your cultivation has fallen to the Foundation Establishment realm. Were you killed in the Void Heaven Realm?” Hun Tianyang asked, his brows furrowed in a frown.

Hun Li, seeing his father, snapped out of his frenzy.

“Father? Father, why are you here?” Hun Li was startled upon seeing Hun Tianyang, and immediately knelt.

“Hun Li, what exactly happened?” Hun Tianyang asked, narrowing his eyes.

Hun Tianyang was well aware of his son’s strength; even if he couldn’t defeat an opponent of the same cultivation, he should not have been instantly killed.

Hun Li quickly recounted the events concerning Bai Lan to Hun Tianyang.

When Hun Tianyang learned that someone possessed a power capable of completely suppressing the Soul Clan’s dark energy, he, too, showed a hint of surprise.

However, his extensive knowledge undoubtedly led him to understand the situation.

“A Chaos Body has appeared?” Hun Tianyang murmured, his expression grave.

It seemed he was certainly aware of Chaos Bodies and the type of power that could counteract the Soul Clan’s abilities.

Hun Li was greatly astonished to hear his father mention the emergence of a Chaos Body.

“A Chaos Body? That’s the most mysterious physique on the Heavenly Physique Ranking. Father, does the power of a Chaos Body truly suppress our Soul Clan?” Hun Li pressed for an answer.

However, Hun Tianyang shook his head.

“A Chaos Body embodies the Primal Yin and Primal Yang, the two primordial forces that birthed heaven and earth.”

“The pure and sacred radiance you described should be the Light of Purification. This light suppresses all evil and negative forces.”

“Our Soul Clan’s dark energy is a part of the Primal Yin, but it is not pure.”

“Moreover, you have devoured too many souls, which exacerbated the damage. Yet, it cannot be said to be a complete suppression,” Hun Tianyang explained.

“This? So that’s how it is. No wonder I couldn’t even summon a shred of dark energy against that power. Then, Father, isn’t this woman our Soul Clan’s natural enemy? We must find a way to locate and eliminate her!” Hun Li exclaimed.

However, Hun Tianyang shook his head.

“Find her? The Chaos Body is the closest physique to the Heavenly Dao.”

“All information about them is shielded by the Heavenly Dao; even our Soul Tracing Art cannot track the slightest trace.”

“Even if you found her, what then? Chaos cannot be killed,” Hun Tianyang stated.
