A Spirited Skiing Adventure

Chapter 1171,238 words11 min read

A spark of brilliance flickered in Gu Yuetong’s light green eyes as she observed the scene.

Skiing was not unfamiliar to her; she had tried it a few times as a child and absolutely loved the sport.

However, after a family accident, she had never touched skis again. It was impossible to say she had no regrets, and today, come what may, she was determined to indulge herself.

“Lin Yi, shall we go skiing?”

“Huh?”

Lin Yi’s expression momentarily froze. He glanced at the steepest slope on the ski resort, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

The highest point of the ski slope was at least ten meters by his estimation. Just looking at that height was enough to make his legs feel weak.

“Is that really meant for normal humans?”

“Why wouldn’t it be? Come on, come on, I’m going to buy tickets!”

“Hey, wait!”

Lin Yi tried to reach out and grab Gu Yuetong, but the girl was incredibly fast. His fingertips were left with only a faint trace of her feminine scent.

Watching the purple-haired girl vanish into the surging crowd, Lin Yi quickly followed. However, there were simply too many people. By the time he pushed his way through, Gu Yuetong was nowhere to be seen.

“Gu Yuetong, where are you?”

No one answered Lin Yi, so he had no choice but to retreat from the crowd.

After an unknown period, a familiar voice suddenly rang in his ears. He instinctively looked in the direction of the sound.

The purple-haired girl parted the dense crowd, holding two light blue ski tickets high in her hand, her eyes sparkling as they met Lin Yi’s.

“Hehe, I got them! You wouldn’t refuse, would you?”

Her light green eyes dimmed slightly, and Gu Yuetong’s smile seemed particularly mischievous.

Lin Yi’s mouth twitched. He had already envisioned the consequences of refusing Gu Yuetong. At best, he’d be forcibly fitted with ski boots; at worst, he’d receive the full ‘kidnapping and training’ package.

He swallowed instinctively. Lin Yi had no recourse against Gu Yuetong, so he could only concede.

“Of course I wouldn’t refuse, haha.”

At the peak of the ski resort, Lin Yi felt the cold wind lash against his face. His body began to tremble uncontrollably.

Before him lay an almost vertical slope. The skis and boots strapped to his feet felt restrictive, a sensation that deeply unsettled him. He felt as though a single gust of wind could send him plummeting down.

In stark contrast, the purple-haired girl beside him gazed calmly down the slope. This height was nothing out of the ordinary for her; she had been to many larger resorts where the slopes towered far higher.

“Gu Yuetong, aren’t you scared?”

“Hm? What’s there to be afraid of? Don’t worry, you won’t die from a fall.”

Lin Yi was momentarily speechless. That wasn’t what he wanted to ask. He simply sought a shred of psychological comfort, but it seemed asking Gu Yuetong was worse than not asking at all.

If a girl wasn’t afraid, what reason did he, a man, have to be? A surge of inexplicable anger rose within him, and his fear gradually receded as he looked down. It was as if the towering snow slope beneath his feet had transformed into a flat, snowy path.

“Then… I’ll go first.”

“Wait a moment. It’s your first time skiing; I’ll show you how.”

Lin Yi had no choice. Not wanting to fall during his first attempt, he could only nod in agreement.

Her flawless skin brushed against Lin Yi’s neck inadvertently, and a jolt of electricity seemed to course through his entire body, leaving him tingling from head to toe.

Watching the purple-haired girl lean against him, Lin Yi’s heart couldn’t help but quicken. Even after all he had experienced, he still felt a touch of nervousness when in close proximity to women.

With her fair and delicate arms, she gently guided Lin Yi to bend his knees slightly, adjusting his stance. Then, she took his hands, positioning them perfectly.

“Alright, this is the standard posture. One more thing to remember: spread your skis to move forward, bring them together to slow down, and keep them parallel to turn. Got it all down?”

Lin Yi hesitated for a moment, replaying Gu Yuetong’s words in his mind before finally nodding.

“I understand.”

Seeing his confident demeanor, Gu Yuetong placed her hands on her hips, a sense of accomplishment swelling within her. She wasn’t sure how much Lin Yi had truly grasped, but his earnest expression convinced her that everything would be fine.

“Okay, I’ll demonstrate once. You wait a bit before coming down, so we don’t collide.”

“Understood.”

Satisfied, Gu Yuetong turned and shuffled a few steps back. Once she found a suitable spot, she leaned forward, and her body began to glide slowly.

In just a few seconds, the girl’s figure vanished from Lin Yi’s sight. He looked down, seeing only her long hair fluttering behind her.

He intended to wait a moment, as Gu Yuetong had instructed.

Just then, a fierce gust of wind swept past the towering structures and slammed directly into Lin Yi. Before he could react, he began to slide downwards. By the time he realized what was happening, it was too late; his skis were already more than halfway suspended over the edge.

Caught off guard, Lin Yi completely forgot all the techniques Gu Yuetong had just taught him. Seeing himself about to plummet, he frantically jammed his ski poles into the snow.

It was useless. A tremendous force suddenly impacted Lin Yi’s shoulders, followed by an intense pain that assaulted his nerves, making him forget everything else for a moment.

The skis beneath his feet became unstable, and Lin Yi’s body swayed precariously, as if he would tumble into the snow at any second.

Below, Gu Yuetong was momentarily startled by the sight. Lin Yi was descending rapidly, and even with the best intentions, Gu Yuetong felt powerless to help him from her position.

She couldn’t let Lin Yi continue to slide unchecked. Moreover, as it was his first time skiing, he wouldn’t be able to control his speed, which could easily lead to an accident. In that critical moment, Gu Yuetong gritted her teeth, abandoning all caution.

She controlled her body, sliding directly beneath Lin Yi, then slowed her descent by angling her skis inward. The distance between them rapidly closed, and when Lin Yi saw her, panic seized him, causing him to instinctively shout out.

“Get out of the way! I can’t control it!”

It seemed shouting those words cost Lin Yi a great deal of strength, even affecting his balance. Before the two could get any closer, Lin Yi lost his footing and fell backward onto the snow.

Seeing this, Gu Yuetong quickly used her ski poles to brace herself. She expertly detached her skis and took a few steps backward.

“Are you alright?”

Struggling, Lin Yi sat up on the snowy slope. His shoulders ached terribly, and he couldn’t exert any strength, likely due to a muscle strain. Aside from that, the rest of his body seemed fine; only his legs were caught by the skis.

“I’m fine, but can you get these things off my feet first?”

No sooner had Gu Yuetong spoken than her hands, like works of art, were already on Lin Yi’s legs. Before long, the cumbersome skis were expertly removed.
