Luna’s movements were exceptionally careful and gentle, as if she feared disturbing the sleeping little princess in her arms.
Luna, in her slumber, seemed to sense the shift in warmth, nuzzling her tiny head into the crook of Luna’s arm and letting out a soft, kitten-like whimper, though she didn’t wake.
“So light… so soft…”
Luna whispered in awe, her blood-red eyes shimmering with curiosity and tenderness.
She adjusted her hold to let Luna nestle more comfortably, one arm steadily supporting the tiny body while the other hand delicately stroked Luna’s faintly purple-tinted baby hair, her fingertips full of
affection.
“The little princess’s hair is so beautiful…”
Vivian, seated at her desk, picked up a warm spoon while stealing glances at Luna.
Watching the young succubus’s utterly captivated and focused expression, Vivian’s lips curved into a faint smile.
Luna’s fondness for Luna was genuine.
“Lord Demon Lord, she’s sleeping so soundly,” Luna’s voice was barely a whisper.
“Her little face is so rosy, with those long lashes… she’s gorgeous. It’s hard to imagine what this tiny person will grow up to be.”
Her fingers gingerly brushed Luna’s tender cheek, her face radiating pure joy and adoration.
Vivian popped a piece of steak into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully before swallowing, her calm gaze resting on her daughter.
“Kids grow fast. It won’t be long before she’s toddling around, making a mess.”
Imagining that scene, Vivian’s lips twitched upward, but then her brow furrowed slightly at the thought of the chaos a crawling baby might bring.
For now, Luna spent most of her time sleeping, which made her manageable—but things would get trickier as she grew.
Just then, Luna stirred restlessly in Luna’s arms, her tiny brow wrinkling, her lips pursing as she let out a few muffled whimpers, her body squirming slightly.
“Ah! Lord Demon Lord, is she waking up?”
Noticing the little princess’s movements, Luna tensed, her arms stiffening as she held Luna, looking to Vivian for help.
“…She might need a change, or she’s just dreaming.”
Vivian set down her spoon, her experience telling her newborns only had a few needs.
She stood and approached.
“Put her back in the cradle. Let me check.”
Luna quickly complied, gently placing Luna on the soft padding of the cradle.
Vivian deftly untied the swaddling below, and sure enough, the soft, absorbent cloth was damp in one spot.
“See? The little one’s ‘work’ never stops.”
Vivian gave a wry smile, swiftly starting the change.
She may have been clumsy at first, but after a few days, Vivian had mastered this routine task.
Luna watched wide-eyed, asking curiously, “Lord Demon Lord, you’re so quick at this! What do you do with… the dirty stuff?”
“…Clean it with magic or burn it.”
Vivian answered while efficiently wrapping Luna in a fresh, dry cloth.
“Being a Demon Lord makes childcare a bit easier—magic handles a lot of the hassle.”
After finishing, she re-swaddled Luna, who, now comfortable, ceased her whimpers, her tiny brow smoothing as she drifted back to sleep.
Luna exhaled in relief, patting her chest.
“Phew, I thought I held her wrong and made her uncomfortable.”
Watching Vivian’s practiced movements, her eyes gleamed with admiration.
“Lord Demon Lord, you’re amazing! You’ve already mastered taking care of the little princess so quickly!”
Vivian glanced at her, saying nothing.
Amazing? She was just learning on the fly, fumbling through it.
She returned to her desk, gesturing to Luna.
“You haven’t eaten dinner yet, have you? Sit, eat with me. There’s plenty. Just bring me a late-night snack later.”
“Yes!”
Luna chirped happily, sitting beside Vivian and nibbling on a piece of bread, though her gaze kept drifting back to Luna.
The tent filled with the soft sounds of chewing, pages turning, and Luna’s steady breathing, creating a rare moment of warm tranquility.
But the peace was short-lived.
Luna let out a louder whimper, her little head tossing restlessly, her mouth opening as if on the verge of a piercing cry—the telltale sign of hunger.
Vivian sighed, resigned, setting down the document and utensils she’d just picked up.
“Looks like this meal won’t be eaten in peace.”
She stood again, heading to the cradle, and lifted Luna, deftly adjusting her position and unfastening her shirt.
The moment Luna latched onto her familiar source, she began suckling eagerly, making contented gurgling sounds.
Vivian sat back down with her daughter, one arm cradling her while the other reached for her documents.
Luna, quick on her feet, slid the half-read file and quill to a spot within Vivian’s reach.
“Lord Demon Lord, you focus on your work. I’ll watch the little princess and make sure she doesn’t fall!”
“…That won’t happen.”
Vivian shot her a look, her lips twisting into a wry smile.
Still, having an extra pair of hands nearby did lighten the load.
Feeling the warmth and gentle tugging in her arms, she refocused on her complex tasks.
Time passed slowly.
Between reviewing documents and pondering territory matters, Vivian occasionally glanced down at her “busy” daughter.
Luna, like a devoted audience, sat quietly nearby, her eyes flicking between Vivian’s focused profile and Luna’s adorable feeding, occasionally passing a file, picking up a dropped pen, or simply watching
Luna with a contented smile.
Finally, Luna finished, releasing with a satisfied sigh, her little head resting against Vivian’s chest as her eyelids grew heavy.
Vivian gently patted her back until a tiny burp escaped, then lifted her, letting Luna’s head rest on her shoulder.
“Asleep?” Luna whispered.
“Mm.”
Vivian felt the warm, even breathing against her shoulder and nodded.
She carefully placed the sleeping Luna back in the cradle, tucking her in snugly.
Luna watched Vivian complete the task, then said softly, “Lord Demon Lord, eat quickly—the food’s getting cold. Should I heat the soup for you?”
“No need. This is fine.”
Vivian returned to her seat, picked up the now-lukewarm vegetable soup, and finished it in a few gulps, concluding her dinner.
Luna obediently cleared away the empty dishes.
