Chapter 12: A perfect plan(2)

“Arrest them all.”

Yulis’s voice, cold as ice, fell upon them. He couldn’t hide his anger and disappointment.

The hope that he might be able to save his daughter, even for a brief moment, had turned into despair.

And naturally, Yulis’s anger was directed at Isaac. It was the expected reaction.

Who would believe the nonsense spouted by an unknown hero who had suddenly appeared?

Isaac had already anticipated this reaction. That’s why, before the fight began, he sent Zeke behind him.

He looked at Zeke and made a firm request.

“Whatever you do, don’t get involved in this fight.”

“But, I want to help you, Master!”

“Watching from here is helping me.”

Isaac said this purely for Zeke’s safety. If the protagonist were to be seriously injured or killed, the original story’s progression would become much more troublesome.

However, Zeke took it to mean something else.

He thought Isaac was telling him to observe the fight carefully because there would be something to gain from it. Originally, Isaac had intended to send Zeke to the sanctuary.

But Zeke was stubborn. In the end, Isaac couldn’t break his resolve and brought him up to the ramparts.

After firmly warning Zeke once more, Isaac rose again and faced them.

The Holy Knights.

These knights belonged to the Law Order, an organization that protected the laws and principles of the world.

Although they were of the lowest rank within the Law Order, their skills were nothing short of elite.

In any other country, they would at least qualify for the royal guard, and now there were 200 of them in front of Isaac.

The odds of Isaac winning against them were close to 0%. But he didn’t care.

Isaac had boldly declared that he would kill Behemoth. Naturally, he wasn’t afraid of the Holy Knights.

They charged at Isaac almost simultaneously, moving like lightning.

In a short time, the Holy Knights had formed a formation, and their attack was like a swamp.

They predicted every move of their opponent and attacked with no gaps, continuously closing in without stopping, like a swamp that swallowed everything whole.

No matter how skilled Isaac was, there was no way he could fend off the simultaneous attacks from all directions. And this was without even drawing his sword. Zeke cried out in shock.

“Why aren’t you using your sword?!”

Even if all he could use was iaijutsu, at the very least, he should be gripping the sword handle.

But Isaac didn’t even do that. He only fought with his fists.

Because of this, Zeke felt as though his breath had been knocked out of him.

The Holy Knights’ merciless swords were about to fall upon Isaac’s head, who had been dodging their attacks by some miracle. He was really going to die.

Crash!

However, the unbelievable result left everyone present in utter shock.

The steel sword that had fallen onto Isaac’s head shattered into countless pieces, like glass.

The Holy Knights’ skills were nothing short of elite. Even their weapons were well-maintained and top-tier. Yet Isaac didn’t have a single scratch.

‘What? Does Isaac have an ability like this?’

Naturally, Isaac, who knew all the settings and details of the original story, was just as confused.

He wasn’t supposed to have any abilities like this. But after a moment, Isaac casually dismissed it.

‘Well, a good thing is a good thing.

Isaac no longer hesitated. He didn’t avoid the many weapons coming toward him. He simply took them head-on. Flesh and bone fists versus metal swords.

Amazingly, it was the metal swords that couldn’t withstand the clash and shattered.

However, the Holy Knights were elite warriors. The moment they realized their weapons were useless, they quickly chose to retreat.

“Half of them are already down after just one battle?”

Yulis calmly analyzed Isaac’s strength. Leaving aside his indestructible body, the real problems were his immense strength and speed.

There was no shield or armor that could withstand that man’s fists, and his movements were as fast as Zeus’s lightning, so no one could keep up.

Indeed, he had the skills to back up his bold claims. Yulis finally made up his mind.

“I ask your forgiveness for my rudeness. I failed to recognize the virtuous one.”

“It doesn’t matter. Failing to recognize someone doesn’t diminish their value.”

“As expected, you’re very different from the heroes I’ve seen.”

The heroes Yulis had encountered before were nothing but monsters, thirsty for wealth and achievements.

They were the kind of scum who wouldn’t hesitate to massacre innocent people for those things.

But this man was different. Before worrying about money and achievements, he genuinely wanted to save people.

Though he seemed unaware of the harsh realities of the world… maybe that was for the better.

If he died in this fight, he would finally be free from the days of pain and suffering. What happened afterward didn’t matter.

Yulis had done everything he could. Now, he just wanted to find peace.

“I have a request.”

“What is it?”

“Please use your sword.”

“C-Commander!!”

The Holy Knights tried to stop Yulis in shock. The man was already a monster without using a weapon.

If he wielded one too… just imagining it sent shivers down their spines.

But Yulis remained steadfast, his gaze calm as he looked at Isaac. His resolve was clear, his demeanor almost transcendent, prepared for death.

Then, Isaac spoke.

“I refuse.”

“You’re the commander of the Holy Knights. Surely, that alone makes you worthy of using a weapon?”

“That’s not the issue.”

Was it that he didn’t even see him as worth drawing his sword against? Yulis tried to persuade him, but Isaac shook his head.

The issue wasn’t about whether the fight was worthy of drawing his sword or not.

“Seems like you have your reasons.”

“…”

“Very well, if you insist. I’ll have to accept it.”

Yulis unsheathed the sword at his waist. Isaac remained silent.

Yulis Fraghach, the lord of Sallen and commander of the Holy Knights, known as the strongest commander in history.

Even though he was the commander of the lowest-ranked knights, his strength was comparable to that of the White Knights, the highest-ranking order.

His sword, filled with all his might, came down like lightning.

“I’ll see if you can withstand this without drawing your weapon.”

“Is this everyone evacuated?”

Cain muttered between heavy breaths. Their plan of using the bomb to create panic and then lighting the beacon to lead everyone to the sanctuary had succeeded more easily than expected.

Of course, checking on all 800 people was no small task, but luckily, Yulina had taken charge and handled it.

The territory’s people immediately followed suit and maintained order when she stepped in.

Thanks to that, the chaos subsided quickly. Cain clicked his tongue.

Not only did she have the position, but her abilities also befitted that of a lord. But… was he really worthy of someone like her?

“You were lost in pointless thoughts again, weren’t you?”

“What? Out of nowhere…”

“You had that wistful look in your eyes.”

“I did not!”

“Just kidding!”

If one feels cuteness rather than anger at her sticking out her tongue in a playful manner, is that a sign of being sick, or is it normal?

In the midst of this confusion over emotions I had never felt before, it happened.

“The evacuation is complete, so let’s go back to the castle now.”

“What? You want to go back there? Are you out of your mind?!”

To voluntarily walk back into the lion’s den was a natural reaction for Cain.

But Yulina shook her head. That made her all the more determined to return.

“I can’t keep avoiding it forever.”

“……”

“If that’s the case, then I want to see it for myself, at least.”

“…I suppose that’s just like you.”

She would never turn a blind eye to matters that concerned her. Her nature compelled her to resolve things herself.

Perhaps it was this trait that had led Cain to fall for her. He clicked his tongue.

“But we need to hurry. I don’t know how long Isaac can hold out.”

“Is it really that serious? Isaac seemed strong too…”

“The Holy Knights might hold their own, but your father is on a different level altogether.”

Cain had already begun to suspect that Isaac was no ordinary opponent.

No matter how elite the Holy Knights were, they couldn’t match someone like Isaac—even if they had the numbers.

But the biggest problem was Yulis. Yulis was a knight renowned for his skills, someone even Cain had heard of. Cain frowned.

“The strongest force in the law country is the White Knights. Your father is a knight with power equivalent to only seven White Knights in the entire law country.”

“How strong are the White Knights?”

“They can single-handedly take on an average army.”

“I see! Thank you!”

“Why are you so happy about that?”

Well, he understood her being happy. But did she realize that they had to overcome that formidable barrier? Cain swallowed his words and quickened his pace. The outcome was all but certain.

If they clashed head-on, defeat was inevitable. But if Isaac was still holding on, and if he joined in as well… perhaps there might be a chance to exploit a gap and force a retreat.

Boom! Crash!!

However, as they returned to the castle, they were met with the noise of the earth shaking and the sight of crumbling walls.

In the center of it all, two figures clashed like horns colliding.

No, it was more than just that.

It wasn’t merely a clash. Yulis was on the defensive, while Isaac was pressing forward with all his might.

It was a scene beyond imagination, leaving Cain speechless.

It was the same for everyone else gathered there.

Overwhelming.

The nameless hero was overpowering someone of White Knight caliber.
