The Terrifying Savior’s True Nature

Chapter 12 • 1,883 words • 16 min read

This Savior was terrifying beyond belief!

He was practically a flawless combatant—a true war god. Ordinarily, immense physical power implied a weaker spiritual force. Yet, this Savior not only possessed the ability to effortlessly slay unseen monsters but also demonstrated complete immunity to spiritual assaults.

After several attempts, all ending in utter failure, both the Elven Differentiated Entity and the gaunt man fell silent.

Cold sweat beaded on the gaunt man’s brow. He desperately tried to comprehend the true nature of the monstrous entity sitting serenely beside him in the SUV.

Yuan Anqing, however, remained perfectly calm. He was as unperturbed as if he were merely on a leisurely Sunday drive, even going so far as to inquire about the driver’s gender.

“Me? I have no gender,” the Entity responded truthfully, keeping their eyes on the road. “However, I do have a reproductive form.”

A reproductive form? Yuan Anqing understood. The Entity before him was one of those subspecies—like the ones in the romance film he’d watched—that could physically split themselves in two when mature.

Differentiated beings did not appear out of thin air; their existence always stemmed from a base species. This particular Entity’s base was a subspecies known as ‘Dual-Breath.’

“I know Dual-Breath,” Yuan Anqing said. He then turned to the gaunt man beside him. “Are you a pure human?”

The man swallowed hard and nodded.

Yuan Anqing had little interest in his own species. He turned his attention back to the Entity driving. “I’m curious. Why is it that when you activate your seductive abilities, this human can sit perfectly fine beside me without being affected?”

“Because my ability targets specific individuals, not groups,” the Entity replied, a frown creasing their brow. They seemed genuinely puzzled as to why Yuan Anqing would ask such an obvious question. “No one has an ability that can mind-control groups; that would be far too terrifying.”

Cannot?

Yuan Anqing recalled Bai Tian’s terrified expression when Zhuo transformed into his massive true form in the isolation room. He surmised that Zhuo must be the kind of Differentiated Being capable of group control.

“You just haven’t seen it yet.” Yuan Anqing crossed his legs, leaning back against the leather seat with a relaxed, almost lordly air.

This time, the Entity did not take Yuan Anqing’s words seriously. “One who can control groups is not a person. That is a god.”

A god? Yuan Anqing’s mouth twitched. Recalling Zhuo’s childish tantrums, he felt the monster was utterly undeserving of the title. “Perhaps you’re just not strong enough to imagine it?”

This remark clearly provoked the Entity. They immediately launched another psychic attack against Yuan Anqing.

The attack this time was desperate. The intensity of the mental intrusion instantly skyrocketed from zero to maximum. The Entity turned their head directly to meet Yuan Anqing’s gaze through the rearview mirror.

Then, they saw it. A shimmering expanse of gold—a gold that vibrated through the very soul.

The Entity felt enveloped by this light for a fleeting moment. It was a warm light, illuminating every part of them, from their physical form to their spirit. This warmth made them yearn to close their eyes and sleep. To sleep forever, and never awaken.

If they slept, there would be no more worries. No sadness, no grief. They would forever bask in this gentle light until their body decayed and their spirit vanished in perfect peace.

The Entity felt as though they had bathed in that golden light for an eternity. In reality, only two or three seconds had passed.

The SUV swerved violently, carving a massive ‘S’ shape across the road and throwing everyone inside against the doors.

Yuan Anqing was startled. His passively triggered golden eyes were once again veiled by their mundane black disguise, though his facial expression remained unchanged.

The Entity finally snapped back to reality, their hands trembling on the steering wheel and their face pale from the unsettling sensation. To them, Yuan Anqing’s golden gaze was a terrifying warning—a clear message not to probe the depths of the Savior’s power.

Zhuo tumbled from the back seat onto the floorboards. Fortunately, his large build prevented him from getting hurt, instead wedging him awkwardly between the seats.

“That person capable of group control…” the Entity’s voice trembled. “Is… is that you?”

Yuan Anqing was unsure how to respond. He simply pushed up his glasses, offering a cryptic, deadpan reply: “You needn’t guess, for you would not understand.”

The Entity ceased their questions. They stared straight ahead, knuckles white, not daring to meet Yuan Anqing’s gaze again.

If the Savior was truly such a mind-bending monster, defeating him was impossible. So why had he willingly followed them into the car?

They had originally lured the teenage boy into holding the hostage just to test the Savior. It was an overt, sloppy move. The one truly being ‘kidnapped’ was not the Watcher, but the high schooler who thought he was in charge.

If Yuan Anqing had simply walked away, the chuunibyou high schooler would have been executed for failing the mission. Yet, judging by the abilities Yuan Anqing had supposedly displayed, he could have easily killed everyone in the park and rescued the boy.

Why did he use his Watcher’s ‘kidnapping’ as an excuse to surrender?

At this thought, the Entity felt every hair on their body stand on end.

No! We absolutely cannot bring this Savior back to our base! He’s a Trojan Horse!

They abruptly yanked the steering wheel, taking the nearest highway exit.

The area was the city’s industrial outskirts, dominated by empty factory buildings. As it was the weekend, the streets were completely deserted.

“Why are you stopping here?” The gaunt man’s brow furrowed.

“Are you sure you want to bring this monster back to base?! If we do, we’ll all die!” The Entity unbuckled their seatbelt, avoiding eye contact with Yuan Anqing as they sharply commanded, “Get out of the car!”

Yuan Anqing sighed heavily, opening the car door and stepping out. His hands were still cuffed, making his movements somewhat awkward.

The Entity pulled open the rear car door, dragging the “unconscious” Zhuo out and tossing him onto the asphalt. “Let’s make a wager, Savior.”

“What?” Yuan Anqing desperately wanted to say that gambling was a bad habit, but given the atmosphere, he felt it best to be concise.

“Him, or yourself. You must make a choice.” The Entity crouched down, gripping Zhuo’s nape. This Savior is too dangerous. He must die here.

Are they annoyed that Zhuo is too heavy to lift up for a proper hostage threat? Yuan Anqing thought, rather inopportunely.

“A boring game.” Yuan Anqing had no desire to play along.

“Is that so? I don’t find it boring at all.” The Entity tightened their grip on Zhuo’s neck. “Hurry and choose, Savior, or your little follower dies!”

The gaunt man stood silently behind them, his face grim but resolute. Both kidnappers were prepared to sacrifice their lives for their beliefs. Their spirits were incredibly tense, fixated on Yuan Anqing’s every glance, trying to discern even a flicker of emotion or hesitation from this formidable Savior.

But they failed. Yuan Anqing merely stared at the lump that was Zhuo, his expression devoid of either joy or sorrow.

Still hiding his emotions even now? What a shame. The fact that he didn’t immediately choose to let this follower die indicates he wavered, the Entity thought. He’s trying to think of a way to save him.

Just as the Entity breathed a sigh of relief at their assessment, they noticed the red chafe marks on Yuan Anqing’s wrists from the handcuffs.

Eh? Would a God-like being with immense physical and psychic power suffer from basic chafing?

The instant this thought arose, the Entity felt a sharp, blinding pain in their head.

It wasn’t Yuan Anqing’s psychic influence; it was Zhuo’s massive fist connecting directly with their jaw.

Yuan Anqing watched as the seemingly unconscious Zhuo suddenly opened his eyes and effortlessly snapped his handcuffs like cheap plastic. With a grunt of effort, Zhuo subdued the Entity, before delivering a sweeping kick that sent the gaunt man sprawling to the ground.

The gaunt man’s cheeks were now perfectly symmetrically swollen.

Zhuo slung a massive arm around each of his captives, tucking them under his arms much like a farmer carrying two newly bought piglets to market. A broad, predatory grin spread across his face. “Wow. I didn’t know they actually had such rational, yet inferior, Differentiated Monsters in their organization.”

“I thought you were going to play dead until we got to their base.” Yuan Anqing rubbed his chafed wrists, feeling a wave of exhaustion.

“I’ve never even interacted with their organization before. They’re too boring. How else was I supposed to catch them out in the open?” Zhuo proudly displayed his spoils to Yuan Anqing.

Yuan Anqing sighed. “I’ll call Bai Tian for a pickup.”

Zhuo’s expression suddenly shifted to one of genuine astonishment, as if Yuan Anqing had suggested something utterly outrageous. “But I caught them. Can’t I keep them?”

Yuan Anqing paused. “…Keep them?”

“Just like ordinary humans keep kittens and puppies! I can have my own pets, and then eat them once they’re fattened up,” Zhuo explained patiently.

“Firstly, something you raise to eat isn’t called a pet; it’s livestock. Secondly, you cannot keep an individual with human intelligence as a pet; that’s highly illegal.” Yuan Anqing felt a migraine brewing.

Zhuo pondered for a moment, then asked, “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat them now?”

“Don’t change the subject,” Yuan Anqing snapped.

“I promise you won’t even have to walk them! And I won’t allow them in your room. If they get too noisy and scare the neighbors, I’ll hit them.” Zhuo’s voice softened, trying to sound reasonable. “They’re very smart; they’ll understand what I mean with just one beating.”

“Don’t even think about it.” Yuan Anqing gained a terrifying new understanding of Zhuo’s pathological tendencies. “I will not allow an intelligent, human-like ‘pet’ in any space I inhabit.”

He continued, “You need a correct understanding of boundaries. You cannot treat them as pets, just as you cannot treat me as a pet.”

“Why would you think you’re a pet?” Zhuo didn’t understand. “You’re my Savior. You’ve only recently become less annoying.”

Yuan Anqing took a step back from the absurdity. “In any case, it’s impossible. No pets.”

Zhuo pouted. “But they can cook! And they can use the toilet by themselves!”

“Because they are people! They’re educated!” Yuan Anqing noticed that the Entity’s eyes had fluttered open. The beautiful driver was now glaring fiercely at him while dangling upside down from Zhuo’s arm.

“You lied to me,” the Entity hissed, ignoring Zhuo entirely. “You only have psychic abilities! You have no physical strength at all!”

Yuan Anqing found the situation utterly absurd. “The stitched-together monster currently holding you by the waist is debating whether to take you as a house pet or emergency rations, and you’re only concerned about whether I lied to you?”

Yuan Anqing decided this Entity needed to have their head examined.

Zhuo blinked his red eyes pitifully at Yuan Anqing. “Please? Please can I keep them?”

This guy needs to get his head examined too.
