After receiving the command to gather, everyone quickly assembled at the city gates.

Once Lin Shenyue had distributed the consumables, they departed from Vermilion Bird City.

“Still unable to reach them?” the Undying Emperor asked coldly, his eyes narrowed.

His assistant, standing beside him, was drenched in a cold sweat. Everyone knew the Undying Emperor’s capricious nature; displeasing him could spell ruin even in reality.

Yet, the assistant steeled himself and replied, “We still can’t reach them.”

He had indeed dispatched people to make contact, but they were killed on sight, denied even a chance to speak. This detail, however, he dared not relay to the Undying Emperor.

To Lin Shenyue and her companions, seeing members of the Undying Dynasty approach again only meant trouble. They immediately attacked without a word.

They had no desire to be like the villains in novels, engaging in lengthy conversations with a minor henchman only to be surrounded and wiped out by the main force.

Though the Undying Dynasty had not yet officially established a guild, they already possessed a guild emblem. These simple emblems could be forged with basic blacksmithing skills, and the Undying Dynasty’s emblem depicted a crown.

“Excellent!” the Undying Emperor’s voice grew colder. It seemed they truly had no intention of staying in this city.

“Send out the Assassin Second Regiment. I want them wiped clean.”

The assistant secretly wiped a bead of sweat. He hadn’t expected the guild master to deploy the entire Second Regiment at once.

Every assassin within the regiment was an elite, and the Second Regiment was second only to the First. Furthermore, with two hundred members, was it truly worth sending so many to deal with just a few individuals?

However, the Undying Emperor had not underestimated his opponents in the slightest. After the previous encounter, where ten out of a dozen assassins he sent were killed without a single loss to the enemy, he knew these adversaries were formidable.

Therefore, he decided to eradicate this threat completely, deploying every member of the Assassin Second Regiment.

Upon receiving the Undying Emperor’s order to assassinate a small team, the assassins of the Second Regiment were somewhat incredulous.

They considered themselves top players in the game, yet they were being mobilized en masse to deal with five people? Several immediately voiced their indignation, feeling it was beneath them.

While everyone was still debating in their regional chat, a few had already decided to take matters into their own hands and teach Lin Shenyue’s group a lesson.

Since there was no unified guild channel or sub-channels at the moment, communication was inconvenient. By the time they finally reached a consensus, they received news that some of their brothers had already gone.

Moreover, these brothers had been killed and sent back to the revival point.

After once again defeating the incoming assassins, Ye Jue frowned. These assassins had revealed some information before their demise: the Assassin Second Regiment was coming for them, arrogantly telling them to await their doom.

‘Truly fearless individuals,’ Ye Jue sneered, shaking his head. ‘Without preparation, they might have indeed wiped us out with a surprise attack. But with my preparations, I can use my five years of advanced knowledge to play them to death.’

Still, Ye Jue couldn’t help but frown; the available resources were simply too scarce. In the early stages of the first expansion pack, opportunities were limited, and even with the main quest, he and Yue’er might not gain much of a lead.

‘It seems this matter won’t be easy after all,’ Ye Jue mused inwardly.

Lin Shenyue remained the most relaxed member of the team. While healers were typically the primary target for assassins, this was usually in large-scale battles.

In smaller skirmishes, if the mages and archers could be instantly focused down, a healer’s impact was greatly diminished. Moreover, while professions in the game were balanced, healers were still slightly weaker compared to others.

This was due to their high growth potential. Once their skill levels increased, cooldowns drastically shortened, and with equipment cooldown reduction, healers became exceedingly difficult to kill at equivalent levels.

Thus, in the early game, because of long healer skill cooldowns, small-scale battles often focused on eliminating damage dealers. Once the damage dealers were gone, their side would be in an unbeatable position.

However, in large-scale combat, a healer, especially one with area-of-effect healing skills, was nothing short of a divine aid in massive team fights. Furthermore, as resurrection spells became more prevalent, healers once again became the team’s primary target.

Otherwise, after finally killing an enemy, only for them to be revived by a healer, even in a weakened state, meant one more opponent to contend with.

Lin Shenyue looked somewhat lost, frowning as she asked, “Why do they want to kill us?”

Ye Jue paused before revealing the reason: “If they cannot be used by me, then they must be destroyed. All major guilds operate by this principle.”

‘Even the guild we create in the future will follow this,’ Ye Jue thought to himself.

Lin Shenyue felt even more bewildered after hearing this. Such a statement was difficult for her to accept. She had never known that enemies could arise simply because one refused to obey their commands, leading them to seek one’s destruction.

As a homebody in her previous life, with shallow social connections, she had never encountered such a situation. It astonished her that in this life, barely a week had passed, and she was already facing such circumstances.

“The tree desires tranquility, but the wind will not cease. Yue’er, Divine Realm is humanity’s second battlefield; everything here will be replicated and amplified. Protecting yourself isn’t as simple as merely extracting yourself from it,” Ye Jue said calmly.

“…I understand.” Lin Shenyue was not foolish; on the contrary, her intelligence was high, so Ye Jue’s simple explanation was enough.

However, understanding was one thing; acceptance was another.

Seeing Lin Shenyue’s dazed expression, Xu Linglong glared fiercely at Ye Jue, leaving him feeling utterly helpless. Her little Yue’er, whom she had protected since childhood, was now being ‘corrupted’ by this foul man.

She truly wished she could beat him to death. Xu Linglong comforted Lin Shenyue, saying, “Yue’er, there’s no need to be like this. Where there is darkness, there is light. You don’t need to know this darkness; you only need to be the angel in the light.”

Lin Shenyue’s lips twitched upon hearing this. Was Xu Linglong treating her like a child? While theoretically, her current body’s mind was indeed that of a child, in reality, it was not.

Xu Linglong glared fiercely at Ye Jue again, then messaged him privately: [Don’t ‘corrupt’ my Yue’er. There are some things she doesn’t need to know.]

Ye Jue felt a mix of helplessness and relief at Xu Linglong’s protectiveness of Lin Shenyue. He immediately replied, “I apologize. I merely wished for Yue’er to be aware, so she could be prepared in advance.”

Xu Linglong snorted. “You don’t need to tell her these things. I’ll tell her when the time is right.”

Ye Jue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He had only shared a few simple truths, yet he was rebuked by Xu Linglong like this. It seemed another obstacle had appeared on his path to winning his girlfriend’s heart.
