Wilderness Survival

Chapter 125803 words7 min read

On the vast, endless sea, scattered specks of islands dotted the blue expanse.

One deserted isle, in particular, had gained its first visitor in years.

“Hello, I’m Bear Grylls!”

The lone castaway announced to no one, waving the Overlord Spear like a survival expert.

“Today, I’ll show you how to survive in the world’s harshest environments!”

“See that grouper over there?

Its protein is five times that of beef!”

After a long, self-amused monologue,

“Bear Grylls” (aka Black) lunged with the Overlord Spear—

WHOOSH!

The strike was brutal, dramatic—but missed completely.

The spear tip came back empty.

Black’s stomach growled in protest.

“Tch! Forgot basic optics—light refracts in water!

Gotta aim BELOW the fish!”

He adjusted, thrusting again—only to fail once more.

The grouper mocked him with a bubble.

“That’s it!” Black snarled.

“BLOOD PRISON LANCE!”

Mid-Tier Knight Divine Skill: Blood Prison Lance!

A storm of spear shadows erupted—turning the grouper’s smug expression into:

“Dude… really?!”

Then—splat—it was skewered.

Snap!

“Bear Grylls” (real name: Black) now sat cross-legged on the sand, using a sharpened stick to drill fire into dry grass.

Moments later, flames crackled.

He propped the Overlord Spear across rocks—now a makeshift grill—and roasted the grouper atop it.

If Seth saw his coveted six-star weapon reduced to a barbecue rack,he’d spit blood on the spot.

“If I hadn’t binge-watched Bear Grylls’ survival shows as a kid,”

Black sighed, gnawing on bland fish,

“I’d have starved to death by now.”

He still couldn’t believe his luck.

After delivering the killing blow to Jörmungandr,

he’d ordered Little Jinzi to carry Alice back to the fleet.

Then—the soul-space collapsed—he was swept away by the currents, blacked out…and woke up alone on this godforsaken island.

At first, he’d wondered:

“I can’t even swim—shouldn’t I have drowned?!”

But checking his status panel revealed the truth:

【Calm Seas Forge No Skilled Sailor】
Passive Effect (Mid-Tier Pirate Divine Skill):
Grants immunity to drowning. Water automatically parts to sustain breath.

“Sorry, game designers—I take back every insult!”

Black repented deeply for ever mocking the Pirate class.

Two skills had saved his life:

【Never-Empty-Angler】—lured Jörmungandr, altering fate.

【Calm Seas…】—kept him alive after the ocean swallowed him.

“I hereby declare: Pirate is the GREATEST class in Dragonheart Online!”

The level-up to Level 40 didn’t shock him.

But this did:

【Summonable Entity: Jörmungandr】

“WHAT IN THE ACTUAL—?!

Summon a DRAGON KING?!

Do I look worthy of that?!”

His worldview shattered.

It felt like picking up a legendary shiny Pokémon on the sidewalk.

After digging deeper, he learned:

This was a reward for clearing the prologue.

But the summoned Jörmungandr would be severely nerfed—

only Level 40, far weaker than the original.

Still… stronger than any other summon at this tier.

Definitely a trump card.

…Which was useless right now.

His real problem?

How to escape this island.

No compass.

No ship.

Just hope that a passing vessel might spot him.

And freshwater was running low.

Without food and water, he couldn’t even activate his skills.

As the scent of plain-roasted fish filled the air,

Black chewed thoughtfully.

“I wonder how Alice is…”

He’d done all he could to protect her—

but her wounds were catastrophic.

Without immediate treatment, she might…

Die.

The word crushed his chest.

If only he hadn’t used the Regeneration Elixir on himself…

Alice would’ve recovered instantly.

He remembered her final moments—pale, fragile, whispering his name…

For the first time, Black felt truly human in this world.

Once, he’d seen himself as a player—a spectator.

But Alice had anchored him here.

Even if this world was fiction,

his love was real.

His original plan?

After the prologue, return to the fishing village.

Now?

If he escaped, his first stop was Servia.

He had to see Alice—

even if the Empress forbade it.

Only then could he breathe again.

He’d promised—to be her Royal Knight.

Her Jerys.

But dreaming wouldn’t fill his stomach.

Speaking of which…

“Ugh, this fish tastes like wet cardboard.”

No salt. No seasoning.

Just bland, smoky flesh.

The thought of eating this forever made him pine for Kristine’s pastries and Irena’s honey cakes.

They must’ve reached Servia by now…

He opened his menu again—

and froze.

【Main Quest Chapter 1: “City of the Dragon’s Temptation” — UNLOCKED】
【Gift Items: Mask of the Nightwalker, Freya’s Tear】

“So it’s ‘City of the Dragon’s Temptation’…”

Unlike the prologue,

Chapter 1’s climax involved Kristine’s fall—

her transformation into a Dragon-Corrupted.

And it was all tied to the Dragon Kings.

Because—a Dragon King’s soul was already bound to her.
