It was so obvious that Wen Xi didn’t even dare lean down any further.
She sat stiffly upright, her waist straight as a rod.
Wen Xi’s first reaction was shock.
Her second reaction was… happiness.
Eh? Eh?!
She had tried with all her might tonight and still failed to get him drunk.
But if his body was perfectly healthy like this, then wouldn’t she be able to seduce him instead?!
Before she could even think about how exactly to seduce him, a few low, angry words from Madam Zou drifted into her ears.
Jiang Jibai hadn’t turned on speakerphone.
Wen Xi could hear only because Zou Jiayun’s voice was simply too loud.
“Jiang Gu! Are you mute or did you not listen to a word I said?! Why are you not saying anything?!”
“I’ll say it again. If what you and that Wen family girl have is real, then bring her back and live at home for a month or two!”
“I’ll believe you! I won’t doubt you again!!!”
Wen Xi heard every word clearly.
Her deer-like eyes lit up instantly.
Good news: Jiang Jibai worked perfectly fine. There was definitely no male dysfunction.
Even better news: Zou Jiayun didn’t believe they were passionately in love and wanted her to move into the Jiang family house with Jiang Jibai to cultivate their relationship.
This was basically a seduction opportunity tailor-made by the heavens!
At that moment, she completely failed to notice how deep Jiang Jibai’s gaze was as he looked at her while holding the phone.
Instead, a bold idea popped into her head—almost as wild as the time she had suddenly decided to flash-marry Jiang Jibai for the sake of her idol.
Without thinking further, she placed both hands on Jiang Jibai’s shoulders and leaned down.
Her lips aimed directly at the microphone of the phone in his hand as she answered for him.
“Auntie, I’m willing to live at your house with Jiang Jibai.”
“Very willing!”
The other end of the call went strangely silent for a second.
Apparently, Zou Jiayun hadn’t expected Wen Xi to be beside Jiang Jibai at this hour, and her sudden voice startled her.
Before Wen Xi could continue showing her “loyalty,” a large palm suddenly covered her small face entirely.
Before she could react, the hand pushed her face away from the phone.
“Don’t listen to her nonsense. We’re hanging up.”
What nonsense?!
She was completely serious, okay?!
Wen Xi quickly pried Jiang Jibai’s hand off her face and looked down at him in dissatisfaction.
Realizing that speaking up earlier might have been a little abrupt, she silently mouthed to him:
‘I’m very serious, Jiang Jibai.’
Jiang Jibai glanced at her calmly.
He ignored her.
Wen Xi: “……”
Zou Jiayun reacted quickly and stopped him from hanging up.
“Wait! That Wen family girl is with you? Pass the phone to her. I want to talk to her.”
Wen Xi heard that clearly too.
She turned both palms upward toward Jiang Jibai, her bright deer eyes blinking triumphantly.
Jiang Jibai looked at her for two seconds.
Then he handed her the phone.
Wen Xi took it and placed it beside her ear.
Her tone immediately softened and turned sweet.
“Mom, it’s Xi Xi.”
Zou Jiayun’s tone instantly improved by several levels.
Compared to how she spoke to Jiang Jibai earlier, the difference was like heaven and earth.
“Xi Xi, just now you said you wanted to move here with Jibai and stay for two months, right?”
Jiang Jibai clearly didn’t want that.
While listening to Zou Jiayun speak, Wen Xi kept her gaze lowered toward Jiang Jibai beneath her.
He hadn’t moved.
He was still half-lying on the sofa, shirt half open, looking at her coldly.
Just as Wen Xi was about to repeat what she had said earlier—
Jiang Jibai suddenly lifted his right leg.
“Ah!”
Like sliding down a playground slide, Wen Xi slipped forward.
She cried out softly as her upper body collapsed onto Jiang Jibai.
Yet the phone remained steady beside her ear.
Confused, she tilted her head to look at the culprit.
Why did he suddenly lift his leg?
Was he trying to sit up?
But suddenly—
Wen Xi fell silent.
Something felt even more wrong now.
Jiang Jibai was extremely… healthy.
Wen Xi didn’t even dare breathe too loudly.
The phone on the other end was even quieter than her side.
After a while, Zou Jiayun coughed awkwardly.
It sounded like she had misunderstood something.
“Since you two are busy, I’ll hang up first.”
“Xi Xi, I’ll ask Jibai for your number later and contact you when I’m free.”
After saying that, she quickly hung up—as if afraid she might hear something else.
Wen Xi stared blankly at the phone that now emitted only a dead tone.
A moment later, realization hit her.
Zou Jiayun thought they were busy doing… something.
Her ears instantly turned red.
“Are you getting off yet?”
A low hoarse voice came from above her head.
Wen Xi immediately scrambled away like her butt had caught fire.
She jumped off Jiang Jibai and rushed to the other sofa.
Her cheeks flushed red as she watched Jiang Jibai slowly sit up.
Her earlier tugging had left his shirt messy.
It no longer covered his trousers.
Her eyes couldn’t help drifting there.
Fabric like that…
“Jiang Jibai, you said—”
She hesitated.
“You said you had a hidden illness?”
Jiang Jibai lifted his gaze and looked at her.
His dark eyes were deep.
“Did I say the illness was there?”
“……”
Wait.
Did Jiang Yin misunderstand?
Did Jiang Jibai mean an actual illness when he said he had a hidden condition—not that he couldn’t perform?
Wen Xi frowned.
“So where exactly is your illness? Are you actually sick?”
He looked perfectly healthy.
Jiang Jibai ignored her and walked toward the bedroom.
“Wait, answer my question first!”
Wen Xi hurried after him.
Jiang Jibai entered a bedroom.
She followed, but the spacious room was empty.
There was another door inside—probably the bathroom.
She walked toward it.
Before she even entered, she saw a large expanse of bare abdominal and chest muscles.
She immediately covered her eyes.
“Jiang Jibai, put your clothes on first!”
No one responded.
The only reply was a loud bang as the door shut.
Wen Xi peeked through her fingers.
The view of Jiang Jibai’s muscular torso was gone.
Only a frosted glass bathroom door stood in front of her.
He was probably going to shower.
After all, Wen Xi had spilled a full glass of alcohol on him earlier.
If he didn’t shower and change clothes, it would feel awful.
Wen Xi quietly left the bedroom and returned to the living room.
Half an hour later, she sat in Jiang Jibai’s car as he drove her back to school.
He had called a designated driver earlier.
Since it was late and unsafe, he got into the car as well.
In the parking garage, Wen Xi saw him heading toward the passenger seat.
She quickly grabbed the hem of his shirt.
Her deer-like eyes looked sincerely at him.
“Sit in the back with me, Jiang Jibai.”
Jiang Jibai had just showered and changed into a white T-shirt.
He smelled faintly of mint and sea salt.
He stood by the passenger door and looked down at the girl holding his shirt from the back seat.
“I have something to say to you.”
She invited him again.
Jiang Jibai closed the passenger door.
Then he walked to the back seat.
Wen Xi immediately scooted inward to make space.
“Driver, let’s go.”
The car started moving.
As soon as it left the garage, Wen Xi turned toward Jiang Jibai.
She was about to launch into a long speech about living at the Jiang family house for two months.
Before she could even begin—
Jiang Jibai looked at her and said,
“Don’t even think about it.”
“……”
“I haven’t even spoken yet.”
“I know what you want to say.”
His tone was cold.
“Pretend you never heard my mother.”
Wen Xi opened her mouth to argue.
But Jiang Jibai leaned back and closed his eyes.
He clearly didn’t want to talk.
“……”
