The Cauldron of Blood and the Dragonblood Awakening

Chapter 131,332 words12 min read

Within the sprawling cavern, Su Han lay naked, immersed in a circular pool carved from the very rock. Her ample, snow-white bosom gently rose and fell with the gurgling, steaming bubbles that broke the blood-red surface. This water, a vibrant crimson, was a potent concoction of various magical beast bloods. Beneath, heated by the earth’s core flame, the vital essences within the sanguine liquid began their slow, alchemical decomposition.

Ye Qi began by tossing a generous handful of medicinal herbs into the pool: Heart-Eating Grass, Demonic Eye Fruit, Blood Lotus, and countless others unfamiliar to Su Han. As these ingredients plunged into the crimson depths, they boiled furiously alongside the blood, their potent medicinal properties gradually dissolving. Yet, the pungent aroma that wafted up was undeniably acrid, causing Su Han to wrinkle her nose in a subtle frown.

Even as the pool water seethed, a Magus’s physique surpassed that of a common mortal. Bolstered by her Destroyer Dragonblood lineage, Su Han’s skin merely glowed a furious red, experiencing an intense, searing heat and a sharp, burning ache rather than succumbing to unconsciousness.

Next, Ye Qi returned, hefting a large wooden bucket. She poured several more buckets of fresh blood into the pool, which mingled and gurgled with the existing crimson brew. From a bamboo tube, she then unleashed a horrifying swarm of venomous creatures: iridescent centipedes, jade-green scorpions, slender white snakes, crystalline blue toads, and spiders of abyssal black. The sight alone was enough to make one’s skin crawl.

But it wasn’t over. Ye Qi then added a Golden Silkworm Gu and a squirming cluster of thumb-sized leeches!

“Wait, what exactly did you just add to that pool?” Su Han shot upright from the water, scrambling frantically towards the bank.

‘Fine, the Five Poisons—centipedes, scorpions, toads, and the like—I can stomach. I’ve read enough novels to know those can actually be beneficial. But Gu poison? And leeches? Are you trying to drain me dry?!’

“Get in!” Without offering a single explanation, Ye Qi gave Su Han a swift kick, sending her tumbling back into the pool.

Though Ye Qi was barefoot, the sensation of her foot pressing against Su Han’s back was surprisingly pleasant—’Yes, Su Han has a foot fetish!’—yet the kick itself was anything but. It wasn’t the impact that was the problem, but where it sent her: directly into the squirming mass of venomous insects.

The vitality of these venomous creatures was notoriously tenacious; they had not perished in the pool but thrived, greedily siphoning the blood. The moment they perceived Su Han hurtling towards them, they swarmed, clambering onto her body in a horrifying deluge.

“Ugh, how utterly repulsive!” Su Han instantly enveloped herself in a Flame Art spell, incinerating the venomous insects clinging to her. She then retreated to the very center of the pool, settling in to soak compliantly.

“You are truly ignorant. Do you even comprehend what lies within this pool?” “Rainbow Centipedes, Green-Eyed Demon Scorpions, Blue Crystal Toads, White Snakes, Black Demon Spiders, Saltwater Leeches—these are all treasures that have lived for over a century! And the Golden Silkworm Gu itself is at least a Tier Four magical beast!”

“You ungrateful wretch, don’t you dare take these blessings for granted! Such precious resources are typically reserved for us High Elves alone. To allow you to use them now is an immense privilege; do not be so insensible! Were it not for Sister Ye Qi’s obvious favoritism towards you…” Before Michelle could complete her sentence, Ye Qi cut in with a soft, yet firm, “Enough, Xue’er, that’s quite enough!”

“Hmph~!”

Gazing at the sharp-tongued, green-haired beauty before her, Su Han found herself utterly helpless, able only to shake her head in awkward resignation.

She recalled her initial arrival in the cavern, when the other girl had immediately accosted her: “Oh, you contemptible Miss Magician, are you perhaps a clueless simpleton when it comes to magic? Or is your magical talent utterly abysmal? Or perhaps you simply possess no magic at all?”

But what recourse did she have? This was, after all, a High Elf princess, the biological daughter of the Elf Empress from the Life Goddess clan, and Ye Qi’s closest confidante~!

Michelle’s words had left Su Han utterly speechless, her anger simmering fiercely~! Yet, with the other girl assisting her in establishing her foundation, Su Han found herself unable to voice a single protest. She was, after all, beholden to them. And even if she weren’t, the sheer disparity in their strength meant Michelle could effortlessly crush her a thousand times over; Su Han wouldn’t dare to cross her, even if she possessed the courage.

The very presence of a High Elf princess at Cangnan Academy led Su Han to harbor a strong suspicion: was the Dean perhaps entangled in a clandestine affair with the High Elf Empress?

“You will remain here and temper your body thoroughly. You must absorb every last drop of essence from this pool with all your might, using it to forge your foundation and break through to the First-Tier Bloodline.” “Should you fail, it will signify that our paths are not meant to intertwine. I will erase your memories, and you will depart from here.” With that definitive pronouncement, Ye Qi turned and left.

“Hey, Sister Ye Qi, wait for me!” Michelle called out, hurrying to catch up.

Before her departure, she didn’t forget to cast a formidable barrier.

Within the vast, empty cavern, only Su Han remained, her eyes closed in quiet contemplation. In the profound stillness, the ceaseless gurgle of the boiling blood seemed unnervingly shrill.

“Sister Ye Qi,” Michelle began, trailing behind her, “do you truly believe she can succeed? Typically, foundation building must occur before the age of eight. She’s already several years past that, so I can’t help but wonder if it’s even possible now~!”

Ye Qi lifted her gaze to the sky, a hint of melancholy in her voice. “Perhaps,” she mused, “after all, this is the very last remnant of the Destroyer Dragonblood lineage. I can only hope she succeeds.”

“And… what about Brother Chilian?” Michelle inquired, her voice hushed and cautious.

“Him?” Ye Qi scoffed, her tone dripping with utter contempt. “He is merely a traitor to both the Destroyer Dragon race and the High Elf lineage!”

“…” Michelle let out a soft sigh, then continued, “I heard that Brother Chilian… he journeyed to another world. Perhaps he has long since perished, for otherwise, the Great Prophet would not have revealed that Su Han is the sole descendant of the Destroyer Dragonblood.”

“In truth, he perished long ago. He, who arrogantly styled himself as the Dark God, was slain by that girl named Bailuan…”

“A successor to the God Slayer, then?” “How truly fascinating~!”

Behind Su Han, towering crimson waves roared, an impending deluge. She ran relentlessly before the colossal surge. “When, oh when, will this nightmare end?!” Su Han finally halted, hands braced on her knees, gasping greedily for air.

Inevitably, Su Han was gradually swallowed by the encroaching tide of blood…

Within the blood pool, Su Han’s eyes snapped open. From her twilight-hued pupils, a brilliant, jewel-yellow light burst forth.

“A First-Tier Bloodline!” she exclaimed. She then retrieved her ‘Mandala’ armor from her storage ring, donning it before keenly assessing her own spiritual power.
