Weekend.
A word that literally means the end of the week.
“……It’s the weekend.”
Before I was possessed here, it was the word I loved more than any other word.
I always eagerly waited for Friday.
On Monday, Tuesday, and even Sunday, I was sad.
I really felt sad that the fun fantasy of the weekend was over and that I had to go back to reality.
I think most office workers would agree with this.
There probably aren’t any office workers who hate the weekend.
And, in fact, it was the same here.
There are two articles written in the Sacred Academy dormitory rules.
Article 1. All students use the dormitory.
Article 2. Students can only visit their parents’ home on weekends, except in special circumstances.
Most students looked forward to the weekend precisely because of Article 2.
Except for a few nerds who were crazy about studying even on weekends.
In fact, almost all students would wait for the weekend, the only time they could visit their parents’ home.
For this reason, places that were usually full of Academy students were usually empty on weekends.
“…… There really is no one here.”
For me, who has lived as Lian Trice for the past year and never visited my parents’ home, this is a very good but also somewhat bitter situation.
Every time this happens, I feel lonely for no reason.
It wasn’t like I went out with other friends because it was a weekday.
It really just meant that I felt a little bit like that.
Strictly speaking, whether it was the weekend or not, I always went around the academy alone.
“Hmm. My heart suddenly hurts.”
I was having useless thoughts.
I was having useless thoughts that only made my heart hurt.
Anyway, it basically meant that the academy weekends for ordinary students went like this.
“Should I go and do some requests?”
Most students who didn’t go home like me spent their weekends studying or taking on weekend requests.
Requests.
It was practically the same concept as part-time jobs.
Surprisingly, there was a part-time job concept here too.
It was even a part-time job that the academy directly connected.
There was an internal system that collected request documents requesting help and recommended them to students.
I remember the scene in the original where Ellis tells the protagonist, “I don’t remember exactly when it started, but it’s a system created for students who are struggling financially while attending the academy.”
I also remember the main character who heard that explanation starting the weekend commission episode with the line, “Then should I try it too?”
“……It’s a little absurd.”
Thinking back now, it was a really absurd development.
No matter how much he was the main character, a huge incident broke out right away on his first commission.
The main character here isn’t the main character in a mystery comic.
I think I even saw comments saying, “Why does he keep causing incidents wherever he goes?”
Of course, that didn’t mean that the readers’ response was bad.
Rather, the response was very good.
Everyone seemed to be looking forward to what kind of story the author would show the readers this time.
“That’s because he’s the main character.”
That’s what a main character is.
A person who brings incidents wherever he goes and gives the viewers a sense of joy.
A person who achieves his goal in the end even when faced with hardship and adversity.
….Unlike me.
I’ve said it several times.
I was never the main character.
I’m not good enough to think of myself as the main character.
Of course, it’s true that there was a time like that.
Back when I thought I might be the main character.
Back when I was delusional that I could become like the countless novel protagonists who were possessed by the books I was reading.
Yes. Delusion.
What I had was a delusion.
A pure delusion that had not yet realized reality.
A pure delusion of a fool who had not yet accepted the reality before him.
That was such a delusion.
The future that I had dreamed of in the past.
If I tried hard, it would be different.
If I tried hard, others would break their prejudices.
It was nothing more than a pure delusion of a fool who prepared for the future more diligently than anyone else.
When I faced the wall of reality, that delusion would finally shatter into pieces.
The reason why I had not accepted any requests until now.
To be exact, the reason why I had not accepted requests even if I wanted to.
“……Because I didn’t have time.”
Because I didn’t have time.
It was true that I didn’t have time, especially on weekends.
It was never easy to clean up past mistakes.
Even more so if those mistakes were past mistakes that I had not made.
That was why I held Ellis Akstra hostage and demanded information from her.
Because I didn’t know.
Because I didn’t know exactly what I had done wrong.
That was the day when I first heard from Ellis about Lian Trice’s past actions.
-……Haa.
“That’s surprising. Why are you sighing all of a sudden? Who do you really want to sigh about?”
-Sorry, I didn’t mean that to you. Thank you for the information.
It was probably natural that Ellis, who was listening, would sigh so shocked.
From that day on, I started to move.
On weekdays, I took classes at the academy.
On weekends, instead of going to my parents’ house, I started to clean up the things that Lian had done in the past.
I had been living this kind of repetitive daily life up until now, but it was virtually impossible to receive a request in this kind of daily life.
The only fortunate fact was that a certain amount of money was regularly deposited into the bank account under Lian Trice’s name.
1 million won.
It was not really a small amount, nor was it that much.
Assuming that he only lived at the academy, it would not be a shortage unless he indulged himself in extravagance, and rather, it would be a surplus.
……However, considering that Lian Trice was the successor to the Count Tris family, it was a very small amount.
This was why I did not go to Lian Trice’s family home.
The Tris family was not financially lacking.
In fact, Aria Tris mentioned in the work that they were very wealthy among the Count families.
However, it was only 1 million won.
The number printed under the name of the Trice family was always 1 million won.
There was no need to look any further.
Just thinking about this much, I could tell how Lian Trice was treated in the family.
“…”
I was the one who knew that fact better than anyone else.
Because I had experienced it myself.
I had already properly experienced the value of the name ‘Lian Trice’ through the eyes of the Academy.
I had no desire to receive more hateful looks from people I had never seen before.
Even more so if those people were the family or relatives of Lian Trice, whom I had possessed.
I didn’t know why.
Maybe it was because I had already experienced Aria Trice.
It was several times more painful.
Aria Tris’s gaze was several times more painful than the gazes of the other students.
Was it because I possessed her older brother’s body?
Or was it because a little bit of Lian Tris, who had already died, remained inside me?
I didn’t know the exact reason.
No, I couldn’t know exactly even if I tried to find out.
How would I know?
I’m not someone who can see through souls.
I just felt a little wronged.
The reason I’ve suffered up until now is actually because of the original Lian Trice.
If the original Lian had lived a good life from the beginning, this wouldn’t have happened.
“What’s the use of blaming me now?”
However, this was only a little worse in the past.
Now, even that feeling of injustice didn’t remain.
Because I had decided to live comfortably.
As I left the solemn clinic, I had already made up my mind.
The past didn’t really matter.
What mattered was how I could spend my remaining future comfortably.
And when I reached this point, another thought suddenly occurred to me.
“…… Is there any point in taking on this request?”
Now that I think about it, I don’t think I really need to take on this request.
It’s not like I don’t have any money.
It’s not like I need money to spend on luxuries.
Do I really need that much money in my current situation?
It was a reasonable concern.
If I’m not going to spend money, then I don’t need it.
There’s no more meaningless action than saving up money that I can’t spend.
While thinking about this, I was reading the request notices posted by the academy.
“I used to wonder why you didn’t come to the library on weekends when you always came. You were taking requests, weren’t you?”
“……Your Highness the Princess?”
“Yes. Lian Trice. What kind of requests do you usually receive?”
It was at that moment that Layla suddenly appeared.
Layla, who had the title of noble crown princess, which did not fit the word request at all.
It was truly a bewildering thing.
