On the seat, the white-haired dragon girl with the hair tie did not linger, leaving directly.
Selina stood in place, thoughtfully gazing at the girl’s retreating figure.
The jumbled memories in her mind made her a little restless.
‘White Dragon Saintess?’
Suddenly, Hestia’s voice sounded in her mind.
‘You know her?’
Selina was unfamiliar with the internal situation and structure of the Dragon Tribe.
Therefore, hearing Hestia’s voice, she asked with interest.
“Not exactly know, but familiar. The 15th generation Saintess of the Great Dragon Divine Dynasty once sought an audience with me. She hoped to use my power to awaken the sleeping Dragon God.”
“I remember the Dragon God should be the deity of the Dragon Tribe. Why would they seek your help to awaken their deity?”
Selina felt utterly bewildered.
Not all divine relationships in the world were as friendly as Themis and Hestia.
Or rather, on the entire Seraphis Continent, only the relationship between the God of Elements and the Goddess of Lampfire was the most unique.
Other deities, if they didn’t come to blows upon meeting, would at least trip each other up.
And now, the situation was: you’re telling me that the secretary of the boss from the rival company came to our company’s boss to treat their boss’s narcolepsy?
Isn’t that the biggest joke in the world?
“Thousands of years ago, the Reincarnation Cult and the Great Dragon Divine Dynasty were allies.”
‘Oh, so they were strategically defined allies. Then it makes sense.’
“So, was he finally awakened?”
“No… Even when I projected my divine thoughts with my lampfire, I received no response. The Dragon God probably does not wish to awaken.”
Hestia’s voice carried a hint of emotion.
Selina’s mouth twitched involuntarily. ‘Why does your tone sound like Lu Xun’s?’
“Because I have had contact with her, I am familiar. The dragon soul contained within each generation of Saintesses of the Great Dragon Divine Dynasty is extremely special. And it is precisely because of this specialness that they are able to directly communicate with the Dragon God, unlike other dragons.”
“Is there any difference between the Dragon Tribe’s Saintess and me, a Saintess?”
It was rare for Hestia to be awake and chat with her, so Selina seized the opportunity to ask enthusiastically.
“If judged by superficial titles, there is no difference between the Saintess of the Dragon God Cult and the Saintess of the Reincarnation Cult. However, if judged by actual authority…”
Hestia’s words paused here.
“The situation of the Great Dragon Divine Dynasty is somewhat special. It is a nation where royal power and divine power coexist. The Dragon King is the spokesperson for royal power, and the Saintess is the representative of divine power. But if one must compare their power, in certain circumstances, the Saintess can directly bypass the Dragon King and command the entire dynasty in the name of the Dragon God.”
Selina’s eyes widened in shock. She mumbled to herself, looking in the direction where the girl had disappeared.
“I didn’t realize. Is she that powerful?”
“As for the Reincarnation Cult, the Saintess’s authority is actually not much lower than that of the Dragon God Cult. It’s just that the Reincarnation Cult, all told, currently has only you as a believer. Even if you wanted to command others, you wouldn’t be able to…”
Hestia’s voice carried a hint of helplessness, and Selina’s once fervent heart instantly cooled.
Sure enough, wishing for pies to fall from the sky was impossible.
A working stiff is a working stiff, and there’s still a long way to go before she can sing songs about flipping the script.
Shaking her head, Selina cast aside all unrealistic thoughts and walked towards her dormitory.
She had originally thought this was just a coincidental encounter, until next week’s alchemy class…
In class, Selina was, as usual, slumped over her desk like a dead fish.
Taking classes at the Academy of Revelation felt exactly like being at a university in some country on Blue Star.
Although the courses were professional, the students themselves weren’t.
Selina felt she simply wasn’t cut out for alchemy. The knowledge taught in class felt like venomous bees drilling into her head, then furiously stinging her brain with poisonous needles.
She had expected this class to be as excruciating as before, until that voice appeared…
“Hello everyone, I am the substitute teacher recommended by Professor Reckton. For the next two weeks, your classes will be taught by me…”
A voice as clear as a babbling brook sounded in her ear.
The pure, flawless tone, like the pristine sky, made the girl frown, sensing something was amiss.
The “dead fish” lady, slumped on her desk, suddenly looked up, meeting the white-haired dragon girl’s pure-blooded golden eyes.
Her eyes were cool, a serene coldness.
‘Wait, it can’t be such a coincidence, can it?’
Selina’s eyes widened. She just felt the girl’s eye color on the podium was somewhat…
“To facilitate future communication, I will inform you of my name.”
A white dragon actively telling others her name was a great sign of respect.
The students below the stage also seemed to know this, and in an instant, all sat upright, gazing at the podium.
The white dragon lady picked up chalk and began to write her name on the blackboard.
And as the chalk left its marks on the blackboard, Selina’s eyes widened further and further, until the four characters of “Aurelia” were fully displayed before her.
Selina froze.
In the depths of her brain, a sharp pain, accompanied by distant memories, surfaced.
“Cross this river, and you’ll be safe.”
Gazing at the calm river surface under the setting sun, orange rays reflected on the shimmering water, revealing two blurred figures.
Conde pointed to the boat on the small river, saying so.
The thin figure who had been following him trembled, but remained silent.
“Sigh…”
Conde sighed and sat down along the riverbank.
He extended his blood-stained hand into the clear river water.
The river water washed away the bloodstains from his hand, but it couldn’t wash away the pain in his body.
“I want to follow you…”
The white-haired girl, wrapped in a black robe, shuffled over to the man’s side.
She spoke softly, but her voice was as faint as a dandelion floating in the air.
“Everyone has their own path. I am human, you are a dragon. Without sufficient power, neither of us has the right to choose…”
Under the setting sun, the man’s voice was terrifyingly calm.
His black eyes were so deep, as if devoid of any light.
The girl retreated a few steps, slightly afraid, but after a moment’s hesitation, she chose to trust and moved closer.
“But only you will protect me…”
“Heh heh, protect? Don’t think too highly of me. This is just a transaction. I’ve taken the money, so I’ll escort you to safety. The rest is all up to your own fate.”
Conde scoffed, washing his wounds in the river.
“But you protected me…”
Her bright, clear golden eyes stared intently at the man’s back. Her small feet wandered ceaselessly, hesitating. The fear lingering in her heart…
She kept tapping her toe repeatedly, as if only this could alleviate the panic and tension in her heart.
“There is good and evil in the world. I am neither evil nor good. I merely do what I can. Please don’t force me.”
Conde endured the pain, using his scimitar to pry open a blood scab that had already crusted over.
As he squeezed his fingers, a foul-smelling pus oozed from the wound.
Hearing the man’s words, the white dragon girl’s body trembled.
Her tender teeth bit tightly into her lower lip, until her rosy lips turned white.
“I understand…”
The girl, suppressing the tears in her eyes, stepped onto the small boat.
The boat trembled slightly, and ripples spread across the river.
Conde looked up at the solitary figure on the boat.
After a moment of silence, a flicker of reluctance finally crossed his eyes.
He sighed, walked over, and pulled out a red hair tie, used by women to pay debts, from his pouch.
He reached out and removed the black hood from the girl’s head. Instantly, her pure white hair cascaded down.
Conde skillfully gathered her hair with one hand, while with the other, he used the hair tie to loosely tie her white hair into a simple bow.
He said nothing more, simply and silently pulled out the wooden stake that was hammered into the bank, securing the boat rope.
The river rippled, and the small boat slowly drifted away from the bank.
“Big brother, what’s your name?”
The girl on the boat suddenly asked.
Conde was startled for a moment, then waved his hand impatiently.
“Little girl, don’t try to understand things you shouldn’t.”
“I don’t have a name, so I can’t tell you my name, big brother. I wish to know your name, because I want to engrave it in my heart, at least not like myself…”
The girl’s slender hands gently clenched into fists and pressed against her chest.
Her delicate and beautiful face held a child’s innocent longing.
The tender childlike voice struck Conde’s heart like a heavy hammer.
He felt his breath stop for a moment, then a profound sadness welled up in his heart.
“Honestly…”
The man looked up at the setting sun, which was about to disappear.
Its golden-red afterglow was so magnificent. Finally, he looked down at the girl.
Her golden dragon eyes were so beautiful.
“Aurelia, if you’re willing, use this name. At least I think it suits you well…”
The man gazed at the gradually receding small boat and said so.
