Join the ServerToday was one of those days that was neither particularly important nor entirely insignificant, yet somehow managed to be both. It was the Young Miss’s discharge day.
To reward the Young Miss, I had prepared a rather lavish bento box and headed to her medical room early in the morning.
To my surprise, the Young Miss had also woken up early and was waiting in her room for my arrival.
What else was there to say? Naturally, we wasted no time in indulging in some morning affection!
As a result, we missed the optimal time for breakfast.
Luckily, I had made sandwiches this morning, so we could eat on the go.
For a noble, such a manner of eating was highly inelegant and undignified. However, since the medical room was usually deserted, there was practically no chance of being seen by others. As they say, ‘If it’s not discovered, it’s not a crime!’ The same logic surely applied here. I was certain of it.
“So, someone else has transferred to our school? And she’s the archbishop’s daughter?” Of course, we couldn’t help but chat along the way.
“Mm… she’s even in your class, sitting right behind you to the right.”
“I see… I do want to meet her… after all, she’s a woman who has piqued Eileen’s interest.”
“Huh?” For some reason, the Young Miss lowered her voice when she said the second half, so I couldn’t quite catch what she said…
“But if you want to meet her, it’s very easy.”
Before we knew it, we had arrived at a crowded area. Even amidst the crowd, that blonde hair and black lace eyepatch were exceptionally conspicuous. From a distance, a single glance was enough to pinpoint her.
“The one over there is Miss Teresa Donix. By the way, the person beside her is her maid, Miss Calu.”
“So that’s her…” Muttering, the Young Miss quickened her pace… probably intending to greet her? Hmm, our Young Miss is very particular about etiquette. Such noble bearing fills me with pride.
But… Ah! Before the Young Miss could reach them, Teresa was knocked over by a burly male student, landing hard on her bottom.
“Miss Teresa!” Calu quickly helped Teresa up, then glared at the male student. “You knocked over Miss Teresa! Apologize now!”
“Huh? What? Me apologize?” The male student picked his ear with his pinky, looking disdainful. “It was you who wasn’t watching where you were going, right? What can you see with that eyepatch? You bumped into me, made me fall, and you’re blaming me?”
“It was clearly you who bumped into her first! Why are you being so unreasonable!”
“Me, unreasonable?” The male student raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you the ones being unreasonable? You claim I bumped into you first, but who saw it?” He then looked around and asked the crowd, “Did anyone see it?”
“…” No one spoke. That’s right… after all, it happened so suddenly, how could anyone have seen clearly? To be honest… my attention was mostly on the Young Miss, so I hadn’t seen who bumped into whom either. This only emboldened the male student.
“See! No one saw anything! Aren’t you the ones twisting the truth and confusing right and wrong?”
“Urk… It’s you who’s twisting things…!” Calu was not good with words, so she could only offer a weak retort.
“Hmph, is that all you can say? Or are you feeling guilty?”
“You…!” Unable to argue, Calu could only glare fiercely at the boy.
Heh~ Facing Calu’s glare, he instead revealed a mocking smile. “Still daring to glare at me? How arrogant! I’ll have to send you to the disciplinary office…”
“That’s enough.” Just as the situation was escalating, a third party intervened in the argument. —It was the Young Miss.
“…The Duke’s daughter!?” The male student panicked for a moment but quickly composed himself. “…Even if you are the Duke’s daughter, this matter is still their fault. Your status doesn’t change that fact, does it?”
“Their fault?” The Young Miss raised her voice. “But I clearly saw that it was you who bumped into her.”
So the Young Miss did see? Was she going to protect Teresa and the others? No… based on my understanding of the Young Miss, she must have seen it clearly to be so certain.
“This…” The male student’s expression wavered again, and cold sweat clearly trickled down his face. This reaction showed that he was indeed lying. But he was still unwilling to let it go… “Just because you say you saw it… who’s to say you’re not lying? Am I right?” He appealed to the crowd.
“Then let everyone decide.” Saying so, the Young Miss turned to the onlookers. “Make your judgment. By the way, I have excellent dynamic vision. I am one hundred percent certain that this guy bumped into her first.”
“I think it was that guy…” “Since the Duke’s daughter says it’s him…” “Then it must be him, right?” The spectators began to whisper… but most sided with the Young Miss.
With various impressive achievements in the past, everyone had deep trust in the Young Miss’s abilities. “…Of course, I think it’s more that after the previous slander case was overturned, the Young Miss’s credibility actually increased.” Combined with her status as the Duke’s daughter… more people would choose to believe her.
Now, the Young Miss’s reputation at school was incomparably different. Trying to compete with her credibility at this point was truly asking for trouble.
“This…” Countless contemptuous and suspicious gazes fell on the male student, the immense pressure turning his face pale. Yet even so, he still seemed unwilling to give up…
Just then, I also walked up beside the Young Miss. If he tried any tricks, I would immediately blast him with magic. But before that, the Young Miss struck first:
“Oh, by the way, you’re the third son of Marquis Ethan’s family, right?” “Uh… so what if I am?”
The Young Miss rested her chin on her finger, thinking for a moment. “If I recall correctly, trade with our family is a major part of your household’s funding. But with a child like you who lies so much, I doubt Marquis Ethan’s parenting… Perhaps I should report this to my brother and have him reassess the pros and cons of trading with your family?”
“Urk…!” The male student’s face could no longer be described as pale… it wouldn’t be surprising if he fainted at any moment.
“If you know what’s good for you, get lost now.” The Young Miss smiled, delivering the ultimatum. With things having come this far, the male student dared not press further and could only flee in disgrace.
Since the main culprit had fled, there was no need for others to stay and watch, so they also dispersed. It was at this moment that Teresa came to her senses from the earlier incident and bowed to the Young Miss in gratitude.
“Thank you…” If not for Calu supporting her, she would probably have bent over completely.
“I… I also thank you!” Calu quickly added. The Young Miss waved her hand and said with dignity, “It was nothing. I simply did what was right.”
