Bright sunlight streamed through the glass, illuminating a small round table draped with a white cloth.
At its center, three pure white roses in a vase bloomed brilliantly, radiating vibrant life.
Yet, a severed arm resting on the table introduced a jarring note to this serene scene.
The fractured shoulder and the intricate, fully activated magic channels covering the arm pulsed with a terrifying, free-flowing blue light.
Indeed, this arm belonged to the doll… or rather, the doll miss.
No, that’s not quite right either. For now, let’s simply call her the doll miss—it was her arm.
Wearing arcane spectacles with gold-rimmed frames, the doll miss picked up her right arm with her left hand, meticulously inspecting the marks upon it.
Her mental energy manipulated over a dozen tiny alchemical enchanting tools, which hovered around the limb, occasionally tapping and sketching onto its surface with a delicate touch.
For an outsider, the sight of a doll, as tall as a human, detaching her own arm for repairs would undoubtedly evoke a strong sense of horror.
Even the doll’s pack of wolves—well, the lazy creatures, almost indistinguishable from Huskies by now—were utterly unfazed by the spectacle.
They even seized the opportunity to cause mischief while their… owner? Was too preoccupied to supervise them.
Yes, I’m talking about you! That black rascal with a tuft of white fur on his nose, gaping from outside the window, attempting to snatch the cured meat hanging in the kitchen!
“Little Francis, are you itching for a beating again? Do you want me to give you a full-body plasma perm?”
“Awoo!”
The eerie voice echoing in his ears sent a shiver down the black wolf’s spine.
He swiftly retracted the half of his body that had been stealthily extended into the kitchen, vanishing in a blur.
‘Sigh… These creatures. Can gluttony truly be genetic? This is already the third generation… Or perhaps it’s an innate racial talent of the Wolf King’s lineage? To eat well, sleep well, and grow strong…’
The doll shook her head with a soft smile, her mind drifting to the current state of the wolf tribe, which now dominated the Yoiz Forest.
Once, they had been nothing more than a small, utterly ordinary pack of wolves.
Yet, after the doll arrived among them, they underwent a complete transformation.
Three or four successive generations of magical cleansing and wisdom enlightenment had freed them from ignorance and bewilderment.
They had elevated their species to that of ‘Magical Beasts.’
Coupled with the doll’s intermittent guidance and teachings, they now even showed faint signs of evolving into a civilized race, albeit with the merest glimmer of civilization’s dawn.
The doll wondered if she might be founding a new species, perhaps a werewolf civilization?
This was a positive development, but it also brought its share of troubles.
With civilization came thought.
While their straightforward, ‘might makes right’ nature remained unchanged, the wolves, now possessing higher intelligence, were no longer as familiar with their enlightener as before.
They even exhibited a certain deference, treating her almost like a ‘Mother Goddess.’
The doll’s wooden cabin had been dubbed a sacred place by them.
Lately, fewer and fewer wolves came to live nearby, and those who did often approached with a reverence akin to pilgrimage.
While the elder generation, those who had ventured out to expand their territory, still returned with their usual carefree demeanor, the younger, restless wolf pups had already deified Sally in their hearts.
She was lofty, untouchable.
Only the gluttonous Wolf King’s offspring still frequently caused mischief around the doll, sneaking away meat or desserts.
‘Perhaps in another dozen generations, I’ll become nothing more than an abstract symbol in the memories of these wolves… A sigh escaped her lips.’
A gentle sigh rose in the doll’s heart.
The passage of time had seen her old friend Adi grow frail and pass away with a smile not long ago.
The inexplicably stirring light of civilization had caused the wolves around her to gradually drift away, leaving only occasional greetings.
The deeply etched memories in her mind were slowly blurring, leaving behind only a few yellowed, fragmented photographs.
‘Forgotten again… But for a remnant like me, a survivor from history, being forgotten is only natural, isn’t it?’
‘Perhaps, I should go out and explore? To see all that this world now holds?’
The loneliness beneath her detached serenity transformed into a quiet spring, causing the long-held desire for a journey to take root and sprout within her heart.
The doll gazed out at the azure sky through the window, her eyes hollow.
“Roar!”
A wild beast’s roar erupted from outside the window.
The roar was majestic and earth-shattering, yet it carried an unmistakable undertone of laziness and even a hint of fawning.
The hollow-eyed doll was startled back to attention by the roar.
She let out a small, amused chuckle, then reattached the arm she had been mending to her shoulder.
Subsequently, magic coalesced in the air, instantly forming a hand of force.
It passed through two layers of walls and the earth between them, retrieving a bottle of shimmering purple potion from the underground magic workshop, cradled gently by the mage’s hand.
Within the arcane crystal test tube, a dazzling purple liquid swirled, eager to spill out, yet it was contained by the ethereal golden seal at the vial’s opening.
“Another tube of extreme energy potion… This is already the second time this week… Even if it’s in a growth spurt, this Moongazer Bear is consuming too much… Is it perhaps because it’s difficult to draw energy from nature now? It might very well be…”
Murmuring to herself, the doll stepped out of her room and walked towards a small wooden cabin not far from her house.
However, to call it a wooden cabin was misleading; it looked more like a cage.
Invisible confinement runes formed a cage-like structure, sealing the house on all sides, including the ground beneath.
The roars were indeed emanating from within this structure.
The runes were ineffective against the doll, who passed straight through them.
She then opened the wooden door of the house.
Inside, there was no furniture, only a large, thick circular rug.
Upon it, a brown ball of fur was currently tilting its head back, baring its teeth, and bellowing.
It had round little ears, a large head, stubby limbs, and a plump, bulging belly.
A delightful little Teddy Bear!
“Teddy, stop barking. Here, this is what you wanted.”
The doll removed the seal from the test tube and tossed it towards the pathetic creature, whose round, beady eyes were fixed on the vial, drool already trickling from its mouth.
Clutching the test tube with both paws, it gulped down the potion.
The two mouthfuls, containing enough magical energy to burst a mid-level mage, were swallowed by the small fluffy bear, causing its entire brown coat to glow with a purple sheen.
“Haa-choo~~~”
After licking the potion clean and flashing a mouthful of pristine white teeth, the ball of fur lazily curled back into a sphere and drifted off to sleep.
The doll paid no mind to her utterly unselfconscious captive.
Bending down to retrieve the test tube, she then exited the room.
Indeed, this adorable-looking furball was once the monstrous bear that had wreaked havoc in the Yoiz Forest, nearly destroying the entire forest and its surrounding towns.
Despite its current cute appearance after being sealed, it had once been an enormous, fearsome beast.
Fueled by the agitated magic of a full moon and the berserk enhancement from its bloodline, it had battled gigantic magical wolves, holding its own against five foes without yielding.
Its thick arms could effortlessly uproot a tree that required two people to embrace, sending the doll’s magical wolves yelping in pain.
But it was still utterly useless.
Upon the doll’s arrival, she first suppressed it with her Saint-tier power, then followed up with several sealing magic formations.
And just like that, a piping hot, fluffy Teddy Bear was born!
After all, it was merely a mindless creature with a faint touch of divinity; fighting it was almost ridiculously easy.
The rest was simple.
After distorting the memories of any witnesses, the doll brought this bewildered, miniature plaything back to her residence.
After extensive research, the doll identified its true nature: a descendant many millennia removed of a Moongazer Bear, one of the divine pets of a Mid-Tier Deity – the Silver Moon Lady – from thousands of years ago.
It was a fortunate individual who had experienced a bloodline awakening.
That rampage was its frenzy, a result of its bloodline awakening without sufficient energy absorption.
Had the doll not force-fed it the potion, this creature, forced to burn its life force for magic due to its awakening bloodline, would have been drained into a dried husk.
In a way, encountering the doll was its stroke of luck.
The doll had initially intended to keep it as a pet, just for fun.
However, perhaps its divine bloodline suppressed its intellectual growth, as the creature caused trouble day in and day out.
After an unintentional transformation into its giant form destroyed the doll’s cabin, the exasperated doll finally sealed it within this wooden house, vowing not to release it until it could control its bloodline transformations.
Yet, the creature simply ate, slept, and remained utterly carefree…
The doll had no choice but to let it be, to let it do as it pleased.
Returning to her room, the doll continued to adjust her body…
Night had fallen, and with it, a profound serenity, broken only by the faint chirping of insects and the rustling of leaves.
‘Heh… So, after stealing the dessert, he won’t show up now, huh… Little Francis.’
The doll, lying on a chair, revealed a somewhat wistful smile.
Under the glow of the magical arcane lamp, after clearing the lavish meal from the table, the doll retrieved a map from a drawer.
She spread it out, propped her chin in her hand, and fell into deep thought as she gazed at the countries and place names marked upon it.
