Days without Eve [Part 2]

Chapter 153,418 words29 min read

After Mireya and Shione got home, they saw Mio and Amina drinking beverages. Amina turned her head.

“Mireya, we’ve been waiting for you forever.”

“Why are you here?”

“I need to talk to you.”

“About what?”

“I hope you can fight against superpowered humans in the future. Of course, you’ll be compensated.”

Mio nodded at Mireya.

“Alright.”

“Great! As expected from an elf-turned-human!”

Amina was overjoyed, but Mio turned serious.

“Miss Amina, please don’t forget—we’re just using each other for our own goals.”

“I understand. Then I’ll take my leave.”

After Amina left, Mio smiled.

“Mireya, I want to see how strong you are after your resurrection.”

“Got it.”

“Keep in mind, your opponents won’t be pushovers.”

In fact, this was all arranged by Eve—she specifically found demi-gods to intensify their training.

At that moment, Shione spoke.

“Milady, can I come too?”

“Sure. I was planning to send four people anyway. Also, when outside, don’t call Mio ‘milady’.”

“Yes!”

Meanwhile, Shizuku was listening from upstairs and came down.

“Sis, where did Nemesis go?”

“She said she was bored and went out to have fun.”

“I see…”

Shizuku glanced at the documents in Mireya’s hand.

“Mireya, what are those in your hands?”

“Documents Lady Mio requested.”

“Yes, I’ll need them in the future.”

“I see. Then I’ll go have some fun. Sis, wanna come?”

“No, I’m still thinking about Kuro and the others. Mireya, go take a break.”

“Milady, I want to go out for a bit.”

“Me too.”

“Alright, just be careful out there.”

After putting away the documents and leaving with Shione, Shizuku walked over to Mio.

“Sis, it’s weird not having Kuro around, huh?”

“Yeah, kind of. But with Rin on our side, we can still manage a lot.”

“True. But some things are more troublesome for us…”

Shizuku began to whisper.

“Might as well leave it to Ren and Aya.”

“Good point. I’m going to take a bath. If you see anyone else, tell them today’s a rest day.”

“Okay.”

Mio entered the bath, and just as she got into the water, Esther popped up from beneath the surface.

“Esther, were you diving?”

“Yes, it’s too boring bathing alone.”

“I’m bored too. Let’s find something fun to do the next few days.”

“I want to eat something delicious.”

“Then I’ll cook. I’m pretty good at it, and so is Shizuku.”

“What about Rin?”

“Not bad, but her food’s tasty too.”

“I want to learn how to cook as well.”

“Sure! Tonight I’ll teach you the basics—fried rice. Just follow my steps.”

“Okay. I’ll become the best cook among all Esthers in the future!”

Mio swam over and hugged Esther.

“Of course! You’re my adorable Esther!”

Meanwhile outside, Amina saw Mireya in a corner and quickly walked over.

“Hey, Mireya!”

“Why are you still here?”

“Just bored. Plus, I’m on my own now.”

“By the way, what did Mio—I mean, Mio—mean by ‘we’re just using each other’?”

“For me, if you beat the person I mentioned, I’ll get quite a bit of funding. As for your friend Mio, it’s not just about money. I don’t really know what she’s after.”

“How do you know Mio?”

“I saw you two talking on the street. But now, who’s this person next to you?”

“Hello, I’m Shione. A friend of Mireya and the others.”

“I see, so Mireya actually has friends.”

Mireya was visibly annoyed.

“Hey, don’t say it like that!”

“But your personality is unexpected—always scheming.”

“It’s normal to be ruthless to enemies and targets. I’ve never harmed my own people. How’s that always scheming?”

“You still have the nerve to say that? What about attacking innocent people?”

“Hmph. I don’t care. Even if we don’t act, others will.”

Shione snapped her fingers.

“What’s past is past. Let’s all get along now!”

Amina sighed.

“Yeah, I just want to live as a normal person. No more being a princess.”

Mireya smirked.

“Being normal? I’m afraid Princess can’t handle it. And it seems like you enjoy hanging around our place.”

“Well, each of you gave me a house. The food’s good and there are weird things. Way better than my place.”

“Staying here? That’s bold. Where are you living?”

“Just outside the city center. But where’d you get so many houses?”

“They were created by a higher being—much better than human-built ones.”

“At this rate, you’re saving a ton of resources. I wonder if the Elf King will turn things into gold and silver. If so, you’ll be rich.”

Mireya frowned.

“Hey, the Lord isn’t a money-making tool!”

“I know. But if wishes are granted in competitions, then at least I’d ask for money.”

“Why do humans love gold and silver so much? I don’t get it.”

“Stop with the ‘humans this, humans that.’ I ran into a really fierce humanoid fire spirit earlier today.”

“Humanoid fire spirit!? Don’t tell me…”

“You know them?”

“Could be Lord Volcanic. You didn’t do anything offensive, did you?”

“Huh!? That’s the Fire Spirit King!?”

“Well, you’re still alive, so maybe not.”

“All I said was: ‘You should be more careful with your words or you’ll get burned.’ Then she said, ‘That’s your problem’ and walked away.”

“This is the Lord’s territory. Besides the Elf King, no one dares cause trouble.”

“Maybe. Anyway, I’m heading back to bathe and sleep. Just letting you know—I saw her in the city center.”

“Got it. Shione, let’s go.”

“Okay!”

After Mireya walked away, Amina stood in a daze.

“Feels like I forgot something… oh well, probably nothing important.”

Meanwhile, Rin was alone in a room deep in thought. Eve had told her before that Mio and Shizuku had only reverted their appearances—but their bodies were still Aresia and Ren’s. Only Rin was using her true, original body due to special processing by the Shadow Moon.

“If only I were stronger… I wonder when Kuro will be back.”

Rin walked over to the window and looked outside.

“Sigh… might as well take a walk.”

After arriving at the shopping district, Rin spotted Rubia and walked over.

“Hello, Rubia.”

Rubia turned her head.

“And you are?”

“I’m Kamikoshi Rin Wiscott, adopted sister of the Holy King and Shadow King. I saw you and came over.”

“I see. Sorry if it’s rude, but can you do me a favor?”

“Go ahead.”

“Can you tell Mio that I have a friend who’s very ill—doctor says less than a month left. The current meds are hard on her body. I think only Mio can help.”

“Sure. But judging by where you are, have you been living here a while?”

“Yes. She once saved me, and my friend’s an orphan with no one to care for her.”

“What’s the illness?”

“Congenital heart disease.”

“Then I’ll head back now. Does your sister know you’re here?”

“I left in a hurry—didn’t say anything.”

“Alright then. My adopted sister can teleport. Wait at your friend’s house.”

“Understood.”

Rin immediately rushed home. At the door, she saw a red-haired girl, about 14 years old, standing there.

“Hey, who are you looking for?”

“Is this where Alexander lives?”

“Yeah. And you are?”

“I’m Laevatein. I need to speak to Alexander.”

“Laevatein? Sounds familiar. Aren’t you the fire spirit that the god-person defeated?”

“That was due to carelessness—I wouldn’t have lost otherwise.”

“Let’s skip that. What do you want with my sister?”

“Sister?”

“Alexander is my adopted sister. Got a problem?”

“Elves don’t usually recognize humans as siblings. You, an elf’s sister—who exactly are you?”

“Don’t know myself. Anyway, what’s your issue?”

“Seven days ago, I met the god who created the Elf King. I attacked by mistake and was cursed.”

“What curse?”

“She said I’d permanently become human and lose my powers. Now I’m just a regular human. I’m in danger since I’ve pissed off many spirits, especially Volcanic.”

“Haha. Serves you right for being reckless.”

“Watch your tone, human!”

“Sorry. Come inside.”

Laevatein entered and looked around with curiosity.

“Nice place. Was this built by humans?”

“Probably.”

Mio heard voices and came over.

“Who are you?”

“Laevatein. I’m looking for Alexander.”

“You’re looking at her.”

“You’re Alexander!?”

“Yeah. Just using a human form. What’s up?”

Laevatein explained everything. Mio nodded.

“Even if you came to me, I can’t undo a divine curse. But I can keep you safe.”

“You mean… live as a human?”

“Exactly. Better than being bullied by wild spirits.”

“Is Volcanic okay with this?”

When Laevatein brought her up, Mio remembered the grudge written about in a novel.

“As long as no one causes trouble, it’s fine. But as a human, if you stir up trouble, you know what happens.”

“I understand. Then I’ll live in this town.”

“Alright. Take the vacant house 500 meters west of the city center. I’ll handle food. Pick what you like.”

“Thanks.”

“But control your temper. Some fire spirits are gentle—like Odin and Lingdi.”

“Got it.”

After Laevatein left, Rin mentioned Rubia’s issue.

“Good thing we live here. I’ll go now. Also, Rin, could you teach Esther how to make fried rice?”

“No problem. I’ll handle dinner tonight, okay?”

“Of course. I’m off.”

“Alright.”

Mio sensed Rubia’s location and teleported instantly.

Upon arrival, she saw Rubia standing beside a bed. On the bed was a pale-haired girl, clearly in pain.

Mio stepped forward and examined her.

“Worse than I thought.”

She placed her right hand gently on the girl’s chest. Her hand glowed green, and the girl slowly spoke.

“Much… much better than before… th-thank you.”

“Don’t talk. I’ll finish healing you first.”

“Thank you.”

Mio had long known she could heal, though not as fast as Eve.

“Rubia, your condition is normal now, right?”

“Yes. Thank you.”

“No need to thank me. Compared to what I’ve done in the past, this is nothing.”

The girl opened her bright blue eyes and smiled upon seeing Mio.

“Um… what’s your name?”

“My human name is Kamikoshi Mio Wiscott. As Elf King, I’m called Alexander.”

“You are Lord Alexander!?”

“Yes, but I don’t want people calling me the Elf King right now. Just call me Mio.”

“Thank you, Mio. My name is Shizuki, nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you too. You sound more energetic now, which is good.”

Rubia let out a sigh of relief.

“Finally saved… thank you so much.”

“I told you, it’s no big deal.”

After Mio let go, Shizuki slowly got off the bed, then jumped a few times.

“Wow, amazing ability! Thanks a lot!”

“Good that you’re fine. When you have time, go to the hot springs with Rubia.”

“Yes!”

(This girl is kind of like Shizuku when she’s sick.)

“Rubia, I want to ask if you have any improvement ideas for the Holy Nation side. Sarati alone can’t possibly handle everything.”

“About that, if help is needed, I’ll go help.”

“I have an idea—revive Shira, but considering her personality, erase her memory and let her live as a normal person.”

“A normal person?”

“Most of the problems were caused by the pope. She already died after the tournament. When I say ‘normal person,’ I mean she won’t be a spirit user anymore. I think you get what I mean, right?”

“But even with amnesia, won’t Sarati still have to handle everything alone?”

“She’s still her sister. Raise her properly first and take it slowly.”

(I’m not even sure if I have resurrection powers. I’ll ask Kuro when she returns.)

“I see.”

“Well then, I’ll go. I’m heading home to be with Est.”

“Alright.”

“Take care.”

Mio teleported instantly—but instead of going home, she arrived at Alexander’s place.

When she arrived, Mio was shocked by the scene in front of her. Alexander and Ren were badly injured, their shoulders covered in blood, and in front of them stood the God of Origins, Shan Yina, smiling.

“Hey! Shan Yina!”

Shan Yina turned her head, looking puzzled.

“Why are you here?”

“I came to check since they hadn’t returned. Also, why did you attack them?”

“Training. But this is about their limit.”

“Training? You went all out without my permission!! Do you want to destroy my world!?”

“Mio…”

“Quiet, Little Al.”

Mio walked over to the two, began healing them, and said while working.

“Shan Yina, how about having a match with me?”

“Sure, but an incomplete Elf King like you can never beat me.”

“Incomplete me?”

“Every Elf King has my blood flowing in them. But Alexander used a human body, which means he threw away all that potential and talent.”

At that moment, Alexander let out a breath of relief.

(Good thing Eve and the others helped us recover halfway before.)

But then Ren spoke up.

“Shan Yina! Last time, Mio told us you found out their identities, right?”

“Yeah, since I have your souls. And I can share your memories. Not like I’d tell anyone.”

Mio smiled.

“Shan Yina, I’ve decided to have Kuro cut off the memory-sharing link between everyone and you. Also, I’m not fighting you today—I’ve decided to hold a martial arts tournament where we’ll battle!”

“Like the Blade Dance Festival?”

“Exactly. You have a human-like form anyway. And you beat up Al and Ren pretty badly.”

“But that’s only part of your goal, right? Mainly you want to test your full strength—as ‘God-Slayer Mio.’ Am I wrong?”

“You’re right. I want to defeat you with my own power!”

“You can tell Vulcanic and the others that it was my idea. I’m bored anyway, so I’ll play along. However many participants there are, I’ll bring the same number!”

Shan Yina turned around and said:

“Then I’m off. Good luck!”

After she flew away, Alexander asked:

“Why do you want a tournament?”

“To assess everyone’s full strength—including you two. Since you’re using human bodies, I’ll have Kuro unseal your powers and return you to your peak.”

Ren smiled wryly.

“But even at full strength, we’re still no match for Shan Yina. Unless Eve joins in.”

“She won’t. And besides, you two never trained before, right?”

“Yeah.”

“If you train and fully unleash your potential, you’ll be much stronger. Shizuku and I only have human combat experience—you’re different.”

“But even with full potential, we can’t beat Shan Yina.”

“Ren’s right. Also—”

“I know. But don’t forget, this is just a tournament. I’ll think about the rules.”

“Then let’s head back. By the way, it’s been a while since you called us Al and Ren, right?”

“Your names are too long—I shortened them.”

“Fine by me. Ren and I haven’t fought in a while, so our moves felt rusty during that last battle.”

“Alexander, Shan Yina shares our memories—it’s no wonder she read all our moves.”

“True. We need a plan.”

“Al, Ren, like I said earlier, I plan to have Kuro cut off all memory links between the kings and Shan Yina. But that’ll have to wait until she returns.”

“That’s a good plan.”

“Let’s head back. Your clothes are a mess.”

Mio grabbed the two and teleported back to her room, then started healing them.

“Your injuries are healed. Go take a bath later. I’ll head out for a bit.”

“Got it.”

“Okay.”

After Mio teleported away, the two let out a sigh.

“Ren, Shan Yina crushed us in mere seconds during that battle. Even in five months, things may not change.”

“But if Shizuku uses my Spirit Gear, Shadow Demon Sword, she might be able to hurt Shan Yina.”

“Then my Divine Severing Sword should work too.”

“The issue is, they don’t know any sword techniques—though their hand-to-hand combat is fine.”

“Anyway, let’s take it one step at a time.”

19 Days Later, 8 PM – In the Original World

Eve and Kuro were playing PS4.

“Eve, did you lie when you told Mio her power would surpass yours?”

“Half-joking. I transplanted my cells into Mio. Same with Shizuku.”

“But they should be able to learn a few of your moves, right?”

“They can. Except for creating alternate worlds, resurrecting beings from other worlds, or turning outsiders into gods—everything else is doable, though still difficult.”

“Like what, basically?”

“The basics—teleportation, healing, wormholes, transformation, and all the powers of the original Elf Kings.”

“Didn’t you seal Alexander and Ren’s powers?”

“Not sealed. It’s just that the bodies I prepared for them couldn’t handle their original powers. To restore them, I’d need to make new bodies.”

“Original powers? As in, their true forms?”

“Don’t forget, Ren only reincarnated a small part of her power. Full-power Alexander and Ren were terrifying. That’s why Shizuku uses Ren’s body. And Mio’s ‘Holy Maiden’ body is a fusion vessel—Alexander, Holy Maiden, and Angel combined. She only looks like a maiden. Even Alexander’s body alone was good—just too childlike in appearance.”

“Combined with divine power, she’s even stronger. But Mireya and the others are just half-gods revived and strengthened, right?”

“At least their talent and potential grew massively. Their limits are not below Mio’s.”

“That strong!? Then I’ll take care of Rin. She’s too pitiful without power.”

“No problem. And Shinon is also my trump card.”

“You noticed too?”

“Yeah. She’s like Broly—grows stronger and controls emotions well.”

“I see. Let’s return tomorrow morning. We brought tons of stuff—including earrings!”

“Earrings?”

“Fusion earrings. I used your powers to make two pairs.”

“Haha. You really copied my abilities.”

“Sorry~ But these earrings are probably just for fun.”

“Then explain.”

“After fusion, a new personality forms. Fusion lasts one hour. Power becomes 50 times the original two combined.”

“How long until they can fuse again after separating?”

“Two days. Not the same as the Dragon Ball earrings.”

“Long enough. Let’s give them as gifts tomorrow.”

“By the way, want burgers or something now?”

“Sure. What are you ordering?”

“Crispy chicken burger and beef burger with milk tea—six servings total.”

“Then for me—four crispy chicken burgers and three codfish burgers. I’ll have a latte.”

“Add grilled chicken wings too. We can eat a lot anyway.”

“Let’s bring it back and eat. Eating here would be embarrassing.”

“Same here. We’re girls after all.”

Knock knock knock!

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Eve went to open it. A delivery man in uniform was holding a package.

“Excuse me, are you Miss Kuro Viscount?”

“She’s inside.”

“I’m the courier. Miss Viscount’s order has arrived.”

“Thanks for your hard work.”

After the courier left, Eve brought the package inside.

“Hey, what’s with the name Kuro Viscount?”

“I like that surname. Premium delivery is super fast.”

“What’s inside?”

“Open it and see.”

Eve opened the package and found the Tokiwadai Middle School uniform from A Certain Magical Index.

“You’re wearing this?”

“Yeah. I want to create some Misaka Sisters.”

“But what about the Misaka Network? Even if lifespan isn’t an issue, Blade Dance World is medieval.”

“Is raising one okay?”

“Last Order?”

“Yep. She’ll be our mascot.”

“If Accelerator finds out, you’re in trouble.”

“Who knows if he can reflect my atta—wait, why would Accelerator be here!?”

“Maybe Imagine Breaker works on your powers.”

“What, want to fight me?”

“Not at all. But Imagine Breaker could negate a lot of your skills.”

“Interesting.”

“Enough. Let’s play the game!”

“Good! Let’s see who’s the gaming master!”

“Bring it on!”

Meanwhile, in the Blade Dance World…

Shan Yina was in the Divine Realm creating a new spirit.

“Hehehe~ ♪ Hehehe~ ♪ My daughter, hurry and be born! Let your sisters witness the power of their strongest little sister!”
