A repeating dungeon was, as the name implied, a dungeon where every action was repeated, as if rewinding time.
In other words, the boss of this dungeon had all of its action patterns predetermined.
[Stop between the first and second floors.]
“Ah, yes.”
Trusting his words, I stopped midway between the stairs.
Clunk, clunk!
At that moment, a zombie-like creature passed by in the hallway.
Had I ignored his advice and continued down the stairs, I might have run into it at the perfect time.
‘Ugh!’
I quickly threw myself flat on the floor, making sure not to be seen by the creature.
Thump, thump!
My heart raced as if playing a life-or-death game of hide and seek. The fear of being caught and killed muted every noise I made—my breathing, the sound of my skin brushing against the floor.
Crreeeeek…
After what felt like an eternity, the monster’s screeching sound began to fade away, little by little.
“Is it safe now?”
[Wait 30 seconds.]
“Okay.”
Trusting him, I stayed flat on the floor, silently counting the seconds in my head.
1 second.
2 seconds.
And then, 30 seconds.
“I’m moving now…?”
[Go ahead.]
I carefully started descending the stairs, ensuring not to make any noise.
At the back of the stairs, I reached the storage room.
In a corner, there it was—a wire cutter.
‘It’s really here?’
He hadn’t been giving me random advice.
This guy was a genuine hunter who knew his way around dungeons.
He had just become my savior.
“What do I do now?”
[Follow the monster.]
“What?”
Did I really need to follow the monster?
[If you freak out and go somewhere else, you’ll run into it.]
“Ah…”
That made sense.
Surprises in horror were always waiting for when you let your guard down.
Perhaps following the monster was the safest route.
[Looks like you might just clear this?]
[At this rate, even the dungeon’s getting confused.]
[???: No way…! Where did the human go?!]
My viewers threw in some light-hearted jokes.
They were probably doing it now because I was starting to calm down.
It was truly a good sign.
“I… I can do this.”
Forcing a smile, I followed behind the monster, hoping that he could save me.
Lee Taeseong.
There weren’t many who could match him, one of the top three hunters in South Korea.
Perhaps only Jinhyang could compare in the same league.
Because of this, it was no surprise that Lee Taeseong, hungry for power, tried to keep Jinhyang in check—by any means necessary.
“Hmm.”
Lee Taeseong sat on a sofa, staring at his smartphone. He had heard from a subordinate that someone trapped in a dungeon was ‘streaming’, and his curiosity was piqued.
‘How are they even streaming from inside a dungeon?’
It went without saying that there were no cell towers in dungeons. No signals could reach them.
‘Well, dungeons have been strange in so many ways before.’
If he tried hard enough, he could probably come up with a reason.
Lee Taeseong didn’t think too much of it and casually watched the stream.
-Oh, it’s coming. This is bad, bad…
The girl he saw looked so weak that it wouldn’t have been strange for her to die at any moment.
Timid, overly panicked.
Her pathetic appearance reminded him of that ‘fool’ from the past.
That idiot who had once challenged him, not knowing his place.
‘Kang Harang.’
Now that he thought about it, the girl’s username was also Kang Harang.
Her name, personality, and actions all resembled him.
It was a bit unsettling.
Of course, they weren’t the same person their genders were different after all—but it was still eerie.
‘I wish she’d die soon.’
Lee Taeseong felt impatient, but he decided to wait a little longer.
It was a horror dungeon anyway.
With an ordinary person’s physical ability, she would die soon enough.
That’s just how dungeons worked.
‘Guess this is a good way to kill some time.’
Lee Taeseong continued watching, certain that the girl would meet her end soon.
However, his calm was shattered by the appearance of someone unexpected.
[Follow the monster.]
Despite the numerous typos, the knowledge behind those words was undeniable.
Even if it was a repeating dungeon, there were thousands of patterns.
No one could know a single dungeon in such detail.
Unless it was… her.
‘No way.’
Lee Taeseong quickly checked the user’s nickname.
-ZanyaY
There were typos even in the nickname, but it was easy to decipher.
It could only be read as ‘Jinhyang.’
“You… damn b*tch.”
Crack!
Lee Taeseong’s grip tightened until the smartphone in his hand shattered.
If it was truly Jinhyang’s ‘trait’ at work, no one would die this time.
I followed the instructions of the mysterious expert, using the right stairs on the first floor, hiding in the restroom, and then taking the central stairs on the second floor. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to return to my original location without encountering any monsters.
‘So, you can even do something like this in a dungeon.’
A horror dungeon without horror.
It was all possible because of ‘him.’
[Take a break here.]
“Oh, okay.”
I let out a sigh and sat down on the bed.
Even though I hadn’t come face to face with any monsters, the mental strain was intense.
Not to mention, the cutter was heavy too.
[You’re almost out, unnie!]
[Five thousand won if you escape. Please escape, seriously.]
[I’ll put up another ten thousand. Just make it out alive.]
The chat was now filled with viewers cheering for me.
At first, they had come to criticize me, but now that things were dangerous, the insults had vanished.
“Yes. I will definitely escape… Huh?”
As I responded to the viewers, I noticed something surprising.
The number of viewers had surpassed four digits.
But that wasn’t what shocked me.
What amazed me was that I was able to read all the rapidly increasing messages in the chat, with dozens popping up every second.
‘What is this?’
My eyesight wasn’t this good before.
‘Is it because of the crisis?’
From detecting the dungeon’s rift to having night vision, there was something unique about my eyes.
‘Maybe my eyes help me when I’m in danger…?’
So I can sense danger and avoid it.
‘I hope that’s the case.’
Animals can sense far more than humans can.
Maybe it wasn’t just wishful thinking.
Hoping that my eyes would help me in another moment of peril, I stood up.
“By the way, do we not need to kill that monster?”
[No, it’s an escape-type dungeon.]
“Oh, I see…”
An escape-type dungeon.
Like the old escape room games that were once popular, the goal here was simply to escape.
Though the process of escaping was extremely complex and dangerous.
‘Thank goodness this guy’s here.’
If it weren’t for this mysterious expert, I’d already be dead by now.
‘Oh, right.’
Come to think of it, I hadn’t even thanked him yet.
I quickly turned the camera and bowed my head toward him.
“Thank you for helping me.”
[Just focus on escaping.]
“Yes.”
He didn’t accept my gratitude.
Feeling a little awkward, I scratched my cheek.
“So, where do I go next?”
[From here on, it gets a bit dangerous.]
“Da-dangerous?”
[They’re going to start chasing you.]
“…?”
Chasing?
The difficulty was suddenly spiking.
There’s a big difference between hiding from a crazy monster and being chased by one. The pressure was incomparable.
So was the level of safety.
“Isn’t there another way?”
[No.]
“Oh…”
[Once you step out, there’s a monster on your left.]
“On-on the left?!”
[Don’t panic. Swing your knife, duck when it attacks, and run to the central stairs. Use the cutter to break the lock.]
Facing a monster head-on?
“H-Ha…”
My legs trembled, so I hit them with my fist.
If I couldn’t make it out, death was the only option.
I had no choice but to do it.
“I-I’m going now, okay?”
[Don’t die.]
I slowly approached the door and peeked out.
There it stood, one of those creatures.
It held a rusty longsword in its right hand. Just one stab from that, and it would be over.
-Kraaahhh!
“Agh!”
It must have spotted me because it started dragging its feet in my direction.
It wasn’t running, but it was faster than walking.
‘It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming…!’
Its right arm pulled back.
Even though I didn’t know swordsmanship, I could tell it was preparing for a wide swing.
As it swung from left to right, I quickly ducked my head.
“Eek!”
Whoosh!
The sword swiped right above my head, just barely missing me.
‘Th-Thank goodness…!’
But there was no time to celebrate yet.
I immediately pushed myself off the ground and sprinted past the creature toward the central stairs.
Craaaah!
I could hear it chasing me from right behind, but I didn’t look back.
I just leaped two stairs at a time, heading straight for the rooftop.
“Huff, huff!”
I finally reached the door to the rooftop, completely out of breath.
Even though I felt like collapsing, there was no time to rest.
I grabbed the cutter and moved toward the lock.
“Ugh!”
Crunch!
I applied all my strength to tighten the cutter around the lock, but it wouldn’t budge.
I was frustrated, realizing my frail arms couldn’t cut through the lock.
Kraaaah!
The monster’s roar echoed from the floor below.
It was steadily chasing me.
“N-No… please…”
Death was closing in.
They say that humans gain superhuman strength in the face of death, but I was too weak to even muster that strength.
“O-Oh…!”
I turned around, and the creature was already halfway up the stairs.
There was no escape.
As I hopelessly glanced between the lock and the approaching monster, something happened.
Flash!
The lock’s shackle began to glow.
As if it was showing me where to cut.
‘Please, please!’
This was my last chance.
With desperation fueling me, I gripped the glowing part of the lock with the cutter, pouring every ounce of strength into it.
“One hundred seventy…!”
Snap!
It was the sound of metal breaking.
Without hesitation, I threw the cutter at the monster.
Thud!
Kraaack!
The creature staggered as it was hit by the cutter.
Using that moment, I twisted the lock and pushed the door open.
Creeeak!
“Aah!”
Seeing the view of the rooftop before me, I felt tears welling up.
The portal at the center was a breathtaking sight.
“Huff, huff…”
My trembling body dragged itself toward the portal.
Just a little further, and I could finally rest.
With that thought, I threw myself toward the portal.
