Yan Yun walked in, a displeased expression on her face.
‘What strict management,’ Yan Yun couldn’t help but grumble after entering.
‘It feels just like the residential compounds from my previous life, where outsiders had to register their information.’
Upon hearing Yan Yun’s complaint, Yan Lingyun immediately offered an explanation.
“Things are like this within the Dao Alliance’s territory, especially for powers that exist as families.”
“They are both exclusive and united.”
“I have a few friends within the Dao Alliance; if you have time, you could go meet them.”
“Of course, I can’t guarantee they’re still alive.”
Yan Yun’s interest was immediately piqued by this mention.
“Friends?”
“Are they male or female?”
This retort instantly irritated Yan Lingyun.
“Friends are just friends.”
“Why do you ask about gender?”
“What difference does it make if they’re male or female?”
Yan Yun offered a sheepish smile, her intention purely to tease Yan Lingyun.
Yan Yun surveyed the city, her gaze soon falling upon an intriguing establishment.
A look of speechlessness crossed Yan Yun’s face.
“Oh, the Qianjin Pavilion.”
“This Qianjin Pavilion truly is ubiquitous, isn’t it?”
Moments later, Yan Yun arrived at a gathering place for cultivators.
Upon reaching the spot, she immediately began to shout loudly.
“Passersby, do not miss this opportunity!”
“This humble maiden requires some assistants to serve as artisans for building houses.”
“Any cultivator willing to join, please register with me.”
“The remuneration will be one hundred spirit stones per person per month.”
As her voice rang out, the entire street fell into a momentary silence, then a throng of people surged towards her.
“Is this true, Fairy?”
“One hundred spirit stones a month to work as an artisan for you?”
“This isn’t some kind of trick, is it?”
“Indeed, the pay is far too generous.”
“It’s even better than becoming a disciple of the Cui family.”
Many people’s initial reaction was naturally disbelief.
One hundred spirit stones a month was considered a substantial sum even within the sects of Jiang Country, let alone this barren region of the Dao Alliance.
“This humble maiden is honest with young and old alike.”
“Each person who comes can receive an advance of ten spirit stones, with the remainder paid after thirty days.”
“I need a hundred people.”
Hearing that Yan Yun would even provide an advance of ten spirit stones, they grew even more excited.
“That’s wonderful!”
“I’ll go, I’ll go!”
In an instant, the entire street became a chaotic crush of people, all drawn by Yan Yun’s recruitment efforts.
Yan Yun immediately began selecting people.
However, before she could even begin, a group of cultivators, clad in the attire of Cui family disciples, suddenly arrived.
“What’s going on?”
“Clear the path, all of you!”
“Who told you to block this street?”
“Do you have a death wish?”
The moment these Cui family cultivators appeared, the previously bustling street immediately quieted.
The onlookers hastily made way, allowing the Cui family disciples to pass.
A young man in his early twenties, accompanied by six Spirit Transformation Realm cultivators, strode forward.
This young man was also a Spirit Transformation Realm cultivator.
From his demeanor, he appeared to be an inner disciple of the Cui family.
Inner disciples were those born into the Cui family; outsiders, no matter how high their cultivation, could only ever be considered outer members.
With his nose upturned, it was clear at a glance that he was a pampered young master.
This individual was named Cui Bin, a disciple of the Cui family’s Third Lineage.
The Cui family currently comprised five lineages, all jointly governing the family’s influence.
However, the Third Lineage held the most power, as the Cui family’s Divine Venerable Old Ancestor belonged to it.
Cui Bin swept his gaze around, his eyes quickly settling on Yan Yun, who stood veiled ahead of him.
They say purple is full of charm, and Yan Yun’s allure was fully blossoming.
Even with her veil and her poison cultivation technique concealed, the captivating aura emanating from her was undeniable.
With just a single glance, Cui Bin found himself drawn to Yan Yun’s exceptional demeanor.
“Oh, it seems we have a guest in Qinghe City!”
“Young lady, where do you hail from, and what brings you here?”
“I am Cui Bin of the Cui family.”
“Is there anything I can assist you with, perhaps?”
Cui Bin asked, his gaze fixed on Yan Yun, a playful smile plastered across his face.
Catching his gaze, Yan Yun couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
After all, no one in the Yunhua Sect had ever dared to look at her like that, knowing full well she had once been a man.
However, in this unfamiliar place, Yan Yun appeared in their eyes as a breathtaking beauty, possessing both an exquisite figure and an undeniable aura.
“A rogue cultivator, hiring workers.”
Yan Yun replied flatly.
“Oh, a rogue cultivator, hiring workers?”
“May I ask how many people you need, young lady, and what is the remuneration per person?”
Cui Bin inquired.
Unwilling to stir up trouble, Yan Yun answered honestly, responding to each of his questions.
“I need a hundred people to build houses at my cultivation grounds, with a remuneration of one hundred spirit stones per person.”
As these words left her lips, Cui Bin was momentarily stunned.
As an inner disciple of the Cui family, he only received three hundred spirit stones a month.
To him, that was no small sum.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll continue recruiting.”
“This shouldn’t violate the Cui family’s rules, should it?”
Yan Yun retorted.
“Ah? No violation, no violation at all.”
“This certainly doesn’t violate any rules.”
“However, I, Cui Bin, am unwilling to undertake this task.”
“Would the young lady perhaps be willing to discuss this with me privately?”
Cui Bin chuckled.
Yan Yun’s brow furrowed; she had no desire for the Cui family to know about her affairs, so she refused him directly.
“My apologies, but there’s no need to trouble the Cui family with this matter.”
“I can simply recruit some casual laborers.”
Upon hearing her words, Cui Bin’s expression immediately darkened.
He then addressed the people around them.
“The Cui family will take this task.”
“Anyone else who dares to accept this young lady’s mission will be considered an enemy of our Cui family.”
As these words were uttered, the expressions of the passing rogue cultivators immediately shifted.
Though the remuneration was substantial, it paled in comparison to their own lives, leaving them with no choice.
There was nothing they could do.
Thus, the onlookers dispersed and left without delay.
This scene instantly ignited a blaze of anger within Yan Yun.
“Young Master Cui, aren’t your actions a bit too tyrannical?”
Yan Yun challenged.
Cui Bin, however, merely chuckled dismissively.
“Tyranny is also a form of capability.”
“Within the sphere of our Cui family’s influence, it is only right for us Cui family members to act tyrannically.”
“Young lady, you may either entrust this task to me, or seek help elsewhere.”
“Once my words are spoken, no one else within the Cui family’s domain will dare to accept your mission.”
Yan Yun truly yearned to smash this fellow’s head with a single punch, yet she forced herself to endure.
‘I’ll endure, I’ll endure,’ Yan Yun repeatedly reminded herself mentally.
“Very well then, Young Master.”
“Please gather a hundred people and have them follow me.”
Cui Bin chuckled, then immediately gestured to the guards behind him.
One of the guards instantly took flight, soaring towards the Cui family’s stronghold.
“Hehe, young lady, I’m doing this for your own good.”
“If you simply hire random people, they’ll likely slack off.”
“But the people I find for you will be different; I guarantee they won’t be lazy.”
Cui Bin began to explain.
He also began to subtly inch closer to Yan Yun.
Judging by his frivolous demeanor and actions, it was clear he was well-practiced in such matters, remarkably skilled.
“Mmm, you smell delightful.”
“Young lady, since you’re a rogue cultivator, have you ever considered attaching yourself to a powerful faction?”
“Life as a lone cultivator is not easy.”
“Why not come to my Cui family? You’d have a place to settle down.”
Yan Yun began clenching her fists.
“Oh? Come to your Cui family, and become a Cui family disciple?”
Yan Yun asked, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.
Cui Bin, believing Yan Yun was interested, offered a lecherous smile.
“Why bother being a mere disciple?”
“I am an inner disciple of the Cui family.”
“How about you follow me and become my concubine?”
Having said this, the scoundrel reached out to pluck Yan Yun’s veil.
This frivolous gesture and language sent shivers down Yan Yun’s spine, and simultaneously ignited her fury.
The instant his hand reached out, Yan Yun’s expression, which had been strained with patience, finally snapped.
“This old lady can’t take it anymore!”
As she spoke, her eyes turned cold, and in the next moment, she struck out with lightning speed.
Simultaneously, a resounding slap echoed through the street, accompanied by a shriek of agony.
Cui Bin was sent flying over ten meters, a bright red handprint emblazoned on his face, his head conveniently landing in a water vat by the roadside.
Yan Yun, still in the posture of having delivered a slap, wore an expression of disgust and rage.
“Damn it, I’ve tolerated you for too long!”
“To dare flirt with this old lady, are you tired of living?”
Looking at the others, they all wore bewildered expressions, none of them having fully processed what just happened.
After Cui Bin clambered out of the water vat, he touched his swollen cheek and instantly erupted in a furious rage.
“You, you dared to strike me?”
“Me?”
“Damn it!”
“I was trying to be polite, but since you don’t know your place, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
“What are you all standing around for?”
“Seize her now!”
“Tonight, I’ll make sure she has a ‘good time’!”
Only after hearing this did the Cui family disciples finally react, immediately charging towards Yan Yun.
“Get lost!”
Yan Yun waved her hand, and a surge of purple energy transformed into countless poisonous needles, instantly piercing them like a beehive.
Although these individuals were also Spirit Transformation Realm cultivators, they were not on the same level as Yan Yun.
After being struck by the poisonous needles, the few quickly fell into a coma, appearing as good as dead.
However, Yan Yun still acted with a sense of proportion; had she outright killed them, there would have been no room for reconciliation.
“What?”
“This is a rogue cultivator, yet why are they so powerful?”
The remaining passing cultivators were all terrified by Yan Yun’s strength.
Seeing his subordinates dispatched in an instant, Cui Bin’s pupils involuntarily contracted.
“You?”
“You dared to kill a member of our Cui family?”
“You, you won’t leave Qinghe City alive today!”
Yan Yun, her face dark with anger, strode up to Cui Bin.
Before he could even react, she immediately lifted her skirt and unleashed a torrent of fierce kicks upon him.
“What kind of trash are you, daring to look down on others?”
“You, you have quite the audacity, telling me to be your concubine!”
“I think you’re just asking for a beating!”
Yan Yun spoke a phrase with each kick, and in a flash, she had beaten the fellow until his face was bruised and swollen.
It was not until a clear, melodious female voice rang out beside her that she finally ceased her assault.
“Stop!”
Hearing the voice, Yan Yun turned her head to the side, only to see a woman in green, leading a group of people, flying over and landing behind her.
This woman in green was a Great Perfection Spirit Transformation Realm cultivator.
Yan Yun glanced at the newcomer.
“From the Cui family?”
“Are you here to cause trouble too?”
Yan Yun asked impolitely.
The woman did not immediately make a move; instead, she cast a glance at Cui Bin.
“Sister, save me!”
“Quickly apprehend this woman!”
“Look at what she’s done to me!”
Cui Bin immediately cried out for help.
However, Yan Yun delivered another kick, landing it squarely on his mouth, silencing him.
Hearing that the newcomer was Cui Bin’s elder sister, Yan Yun surmised that another major confrontation was likely imminent.
To her surprise, however, the woman did not immediately attack; instead, she spoke.
“Young lady, I’m unsure where my brother might have offended you, prompting you to teach him such a lesson?”
As these words were uttered, it became clear that the woman was reasonable, and so Yan Yun was willing to offer an explanation.
After Yan Yun finished explaining, the woman finally glared at her own brother, realizing he had purely brought this upon himself.
