The rain dissipate

Chapter 16795 words7 min read

Uncle Shui ignored Fei Guang’s greeting. He tapped the long blade lightly against the ground, and the current flowing along the edge surged onto the pavement. It expanded aggressively until the surrounding surface transformed into a sheet of water, its reach every bit as vast as the fog.

To Xu Feng’s surprise, her face remained dry. She felt completely insulated above the water’s surface, untouched by a single drop.

Fei Guang manipulated the mist, binding the foggy chains around Xu Feng to his own right hand, clearly intent on taking her with him.

“Let her go!” Uncle Shui lunged. His form was so swift it left only blue afterimages; the only way to track his movement was by the straight, sharp sword-trails carved into the water’s surface.

Before Uncle Shui could close the distance, Fei Guang dissolved into the mist once more, yanking the foggy rope connected to Xu Feng.

“Eek! Ah!” Xu Feng was suddenly jerked into mid-air, swerving left through the fog one moment and plunging downward the next. After being tossed around like this a few times, she felt like she was going to throw up the blood she’d drank that morning!

“Teacher, I remember the first move you ever taught me: Blade Lake,” Fei Guang said as he ran. He seemed to have no intention of facing Uncle Shui head-on, his tone sounding almost nostalgic.

“Then did I ever teach you this one, Fei Guang!” Uncle Shui locked his gaze on a specific spot in the mist. He planted his feet firmly on the water’s surface, gripped the hilt of his blade with both hands, and plunged it straight into the center of the ground!

Clang!

The earth shuddered violently. A thunderous roar, like an oncoming earthquake, erupted with Uncle Shui at its epicenter!

He wasn’t finished. He prepared to draw the blade back out, pulling it upward and diagonally toward the fog with the force of a golf swing!

“Flying Fisher!”

Roar!

The water’s surface vibrated incessantly, bubbling as if it were boiling. Something that had been lurking deep within finally reared its massive head—a pale blue Azure Dragon made of water! Its gargantuan body spiraled out of the depths and leaped into the air, opening a maw like a great abyss to swallow the mist whole!

Splash!

Water sprayed everywhere, churning for a full ten seconds before finally subsiding.

“Waaaaah!”

From the scream, it was obvious the move had hit something.

With the mist churned up by such a massive creature, a large hole finally opened in the fog. Sitting on the ground in the center was Xu Feng, soaking wet and shivering as she hugged her arms.

Everything formed by the mist had been wiped away; she was free.

Xu Feng tried to look on the bright side, but Uncle Shui’s brutal maneuver was still fresh in her mind—she had almost thought he was trying to kill her along with the enemy!

“Stay hidden!” Uncle Shui ran past Xu Feng, blade in hand, standing ready for the mist to reform.

Fei Guang hadn’t actually been bitten; he had narrowly managed to dodge Uncle Shui’s ultimate move, though even he was shaken.

Teacher is stronger than before. He’s received the grace of a certain “Actor’s” power.

At that moment, while Fei Guang was still suspended in the air, his black jacket vibrated. More accurately, it was a communication from his boss.

“Fei Guang, no need to capture her anymore. The money has been transferred to your account.”

The transmission cut off instantly, giving Fei Guang no chance to respond.

The boss is truly unpredictable.

Fei Guang scratched his neck and pulled his mask back on. He called out to the ground below.

“Teacher! When we meet again, I hope it won’t be at the point of a blade.”

Hearing Fei Guang’s words, Uncle Shui—who had been braced for a sneak attack—was momentarily stunned. He looked up at the sky; the fog was receding like clouds in the wind, quietly exiting the city’s stage.

With Fei Guang gone, Uncle Shui deactivated the water domain. The water blade retracted, turning back into a small blue orb.

Xu Feng was still sitting on the ground, trembling. Uncle Shui took off his white jacket and silently draped it over her shoulders.

The Shanghuai Intersection returned to its usual bustle. Many people wandered into the area rubbing their heads, unable to remember what they had just been doing, as if they had simply been elsewhere for a moment.

“Hey! Why are there cracks in the ground?”

Pedestrians cried out in shock at the marks left on the plaza, while a black sedan quietly drove away from the Shanghuai Intersection.
