Late at night, in the room next to Aurelia’s.
The Moon Elf, who had been sitting cross-legged on the edge of the bed with her eyes closed, slowly opened them.
“After all that fuss, she finally settled down to sleep…”
The silver-haired girl sighed softly, her tone carrying a distinct feeling of an old father worrying over his mischievous child.
“No need for barriers, no need for pre-prepared runes. Just a few simple secret techniques are enough to silently eavesdrop on surrounding sounds. This ability of yours is truly remarkable.”
The magical light in the room enveloped the entire space like a hazy albumen. On the bedside table, within the flame of a burning candle, Hestia’s phantom image manifested.
“Can’t be helped. It’s my profession. If I didn’t have a few tricks up my sleeve, I couldn’t make a living.”
Listening to Hestia’s voice, the silver-haired girl spread her hands helplessly.
She casually ran her hand through her smooth hair behind her, got out of bed, and walked to the full-length mirror. The smooth mirror surface reflected the girl’s current appearance.
Her silver hair cascaded like a galaxy, her purplish-red eyes imbued with a natural sense of nobility. Her nose was elegantly upturned, her lips rosy. The girl in the mirror was clearly the image of a Moon Elf noble lady.
To facilitate action, Philicia would temporarily adjust Selina’s transformed appearance with her fingertips. This time, they were going to the Great Dragon Divine Dynasty.
The Dragon Tribe was a race that respected strength, and going as a human would likely cause unnecessary trouble. After much thought, being an Elf was the most suitable identity.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, common Snow Elves, Wood Elves, and Sea Elves were not considered. The identity of a Gold Elf was too special and also wouldn’t work.
Since she needed a certain identity to deter evildoers, yet not be too conspicuous, combined with Selina’s unique silver hair, the identity of a Moon Elf was the best choice.
Among the entire Elf race classification, Moon Elves were naturally higher-ranking Elves. Gold Elves represented royalty, while Moon Elves represented nobility. Of course, this didn’t mean there were no nobles among other Elf races, but rather that Moon Elves more distinctly represented nobility.
Her hair color didn’t need to be changed. Her facial features were slightly adjusted to make Selina appear more mature. Her eye color was also changed from green to purplish-red, giving her a deliberately feigned aloof aura. The Moon Elf girl in the mirror had transformed from a budding maiden into a cool, dignified, and typical young noblewoman.
The appearance difference between Moon Elf Selina and Gold Elf Selina was not significant. However, compared to her disguised human form of Selina, unless two people slept in the same bed and carefully stared at each other’s faces, it would be difficult to spot any discrepancies.
The girl stretched her waist and twisted her arms in front of the mirror, then ungracefully flopped onto the large bed. The soft mattress swallowed her body, and all her fatigue seemed to be released.
“I’m really tired. It’s been so long since I did any tracking work; many of my skills feel rusty.”
It took a full two days to travel from the Academy of Revelation to the territory of the Dragon Tribe. During these two days, Selina carefully concealed her tracks. Silently trailing two giant dragons was no easy feat. Fortunately, Hestia masked her own aura, so they didn’t encounter any major trouble along the way.
Aurelia, who was leading the way, seemed to have suffered quite a bit. She had originally thought that the Saintess’s return to the Dragon Tribe would be smooth sailing, but unexpectedly, the girl didn’t reveal her identity and traveled with a veil over her face within the cities of the Dragon Tribe. Every city they passed, she paid a considerable amount of entry fees.
Selina hummed and grumbled to herself on the bed for a while, but then noticed an unusual quietness in the room. She turned her head and saw Hestia’s phantom image projected in the candlelight, intently watching the night view outside the window.
“What are you looking at?”
“I’m looking at the trajectory of the stars, and also the traces of destiny.”
“You’re also good at divination?”
“I know a little.”
“The fundamental reason for the existence of deities is that our power is too vast, so vast that it touches various domains.”
“Whose destiny are you looking at?”
“The Saintess next door.”
“How is her destiny?”
Hearing this, Selina, who had been lounging lazily, suddenly became spirited.
‘When you come to the Seraphis Continent, you have to appropriately abandon some preconceived notions. Here, destiny can truly be observed.’
‘Diviners, who were called swindlers and charlatans on Blue Star, are revered and treated with respect by everyone here.’
“I cannot see clearly; the star representing her is obscured by clouds. If it were Themis, she should be able to see more clearly than I can.”
“You mean that Goddess of Destiny who almost brought down divine punishment last time?”
Selina still had some impression of this ill-tempered goddess. After all, when the clear sky suddenly became overcast, with rolling clouds and flashing lightning, such an anomaly would be deeply remembered by anyone.
“That’s because you angered her with your method of hanging her statue upside down and desecrating the divine. If an ordinary person did that, Themis would probably be too lazy to care, but your identity is that of a Descender, and the difference between the two is vast.”
As if to make Selina more deeply understand the seriousness of desecrating a deity, Hestia even gave an analogy.
“An ordinary person hanging a divine statue upside down and desecrating a deity is, in a deity’s eyes, merely an imperceptible speck of dust landing on their body. If it were you, the feeling would be no less than having a bottle of ink spilled on your freshly bought clothes for no reason. That’s why she got so angry that day.”
“Alright, I get it. I won’t do it again next time.”
Selina awkwardly coughed twice.
Her previous life had no contact with deities at all. But after becoming Selina, the probability of encountering deities had increased dramatically.
It could lead to disaster.
“By the way, the Vice Principal is a Witch and believes in the Goddess of Destiny, Themis. Do you think the prophecy in that letter is related to Themis?”
“That is indeed the case. I can sense Themis’s unique aura on that letter.”
Hestia slowly nodded.
“Hestia, I’m finding your network of relationships with other deities to be really complicated. Why does it seem like every deity you meet has some special connection to you?”
‘Selina was increasingly feeling that Hestia shouldn’t be called the Goddess of Lampfire, but rather the Succubus Goddess. What decent deity has a crowd of other deities constantly surrounding or coveting them every day?’
‘Her divine charm was almost on par with the Three Kingdoms’ Succubus Uncle Liu.’
“I once held this divine lamp, wishing to illuminate all darkness in the world. However, where there is light, there is darkness. The more places I went, the more footprints I left, the more my relationships spread like a dense spiderweb, intricate and hard to untangle.”
Whether it was sadness or nostalgia, as Hestia spoke these words, myriad thoughts flickered in her pale purple eyes.
“Then, how many deities with a similar relationship to Themis have you encountered?”
Hestia was momentarily stunned by Selina’s question. After a brief silence, the candlelight flickered slightly, and then she spoke.
“The Goddess of Destiny Themis, the Goddess of Star Sea Asteria, the Goddess of Love Freya, the Goddess of Winter Morana, and the Goddess of Darkness Nyx…”
Selina felt a headache from this long list of names. She only felt that Hestia must have withheld some names for some reason, but even with these known, incomplete names, Selina felt it was enough to give her trouble in the future.
‘What’s wrong with the goddesses on the Seraphis Continent? Why are they all so… alluring and enchanting?!’
