Duel Defeat and a New Update

Chapter 181,070 words9 min read

I dodged CameToDie’s attacks with evasive skills, sticking as close as possible.

If he gets distance, I’m the one getting pummeled.

As a Berserker, I have no effective skills to hit a Gunner at mid-range.

[Party/CameToDie: Not using Skill 1?]

[Party/DontOrderMe: Why would I use it on you?]

He’d counter it anyway. Skill 1 might fool Berserker newbies, but not a veteran like CameToDie.

Instead of low-damage Skill 1, landing heavy hits, even if fewer, was better.

[Party/DontOrderMe: Speaking of…]

[Party/DontOrderMe: Said you’d go all out.]

[Party/DontOrderMe: Not doing it?]

Landing close-range combos, I watched his HP drop fast.

He spent so much gearing me up, neglecting his own.

Tsking, I prepped another skill, but his attack hit, knocking my character back.

[Party/CameToDie: I am going all out.]

[Party/CameToDie: Just not used to Gunner PVP.]

[Party/CameToDie: Now I’ll get serious.]

“Oh.”

Right, this is his alt.

Forgetting that, I let out a dry laugh. After his cheeky chat, I couldn’t close the distance again.

It was my first total defeat since starting the game.

“Phew…”

After the PVP, I leaned back, exhaling. That was intense—my first time in such a brutal match.

Raiding would’ve been less stressful.

[Party/DontOrderMe: You’re insanely good.]

[Party/DontOrderMe: Time to change your name.]

[Party/DontOrderMe: CameToDie X, CameToKill O.]

While I struggled to close the gap, he toyed with me—melee bayonet skills up close, relentless ranged shots from afar.

The sting of defeat was overshadowed by awe at his control.

Should I ask him to teach me Berserker skills later? He’d probably outshine me at my own class. If he’s this good on an alt, he could master any new class perfectly.

[Party/DontOrderMe: Let’s duel again later, it’s fun.]

[Party/CameToDie: I’m down.]

[Party/CameToDie: PVP with skilled players is always welcome.]

[Party/DontOrderMe: Yeah, right.]

I held my own early but got crushed mid-match. Scratching my nose awkwardly, I changed the topic.

[Party/DontOrderMe: Shall we farm now?]

[Party/CameToDie: Sure!]

Nodding, I recruited a party and entered a dungeon.

A couple of trolls popped up, but CameToDie covered them flawlessly, earning my deep admiration as I rambled.

My control may lag behind, but my trash talk doesn’t. Trust me.

[Update Notes] #10 Eternal Ender Update

<Official Trailer Video>

“Are they insane?”

Scratching my bedhead after waking, I checked the update notes and tossed my phone.

I just finished gearing my new character, and this update hits? Why now, of all times? Even for an endgame raid, this screws over players like me who just geared up. A massive middle finger.

They ignored calls for a ranking system forever, and now they drop both it and guild wars at once? What’s the rush? Can’t they do one at a time? Do I push the main quest for the raid or focus on PVP rankings? I’m torn.

Checking the new content links, I sighed in relief.

At least it’s just personal rankings—no guild rankings yet.

Guild wars without rankings must be a test. They’re something else.

After a quick patch, I logged in to find guildmates going wild over the update.

[Guild Member DontOrderMe has logged in.]

[Guild/Beta: Insane, my gear broke, still on Valhalla, and they drop a new raid? Devs’ IQ level????]

[Guild/OneHitForTheLord: That’s not the worst. You need to clear the main quest to unlock the raid.]

[Guild/OneHitForTheLord: And you have to clear Iskaria during it. If you can’t, the quest stalls.]

[Guild/OneHitForTheLord: No consideration for newbies or casuals. Fresh raid, no guides, so we’re blind.]

[Guild/PotteryMaster: Pubs will be a mess lolol everyone rushing main quests;]

[Guild/DontOrderMe: Update… unreal…]

[Guild/DontOrderMe: Looking for Iskaria party later…]

[Guild/Beta: Me ㅠㅠ take me ㅠㅠ]

[Guild/DontOrderMe: Fine… let’s do quests first…]

Motivation tanked. Seeing the shiny effects on the weapon CameToDie gave me, I swallowed tears.

Barely used it, and it’s already time to upgrade. How brutal is this raid’s difficulty? Swearing off pubs, I headed to the main quest NPC.

The area was packed, causing lag.

Fix the servers instead of this nonsense… Pushing through, I grabbed the quest, sighing as I progressed.

Early quests were just running between towns, talking to NPCs for story.

No need to watch when it’s not about my beloved Altania. Hitting skip, I froze when her name appeared.

[Panto: I trust you to hear about Altania. She trusted heroes like you.]

Altania’s story? Gotta watch! Skipping was long gone. I read Panto’s text carefully.

[Panto: Did you know Altania had a twin sister?]

[Panto: Her name was Yuliana. Altania wanted to find her sister, missing for ten years.]

[Panto: I hope we can confirm if Yuliana’s alive. It’d make even the departed Altania happy.]

“Don’t say departed Altania! She’s alive in my heart forever!”

Slamming the desk, I swallowed tears.

Why kill off my favorite? Her popularity was huge! I want to throw a bomb at HQ—no, a nuke.

They probably added a twin because of the backlash. Why cause this mess?

Finishing the quest, I rushed to Di Tolea.

The area was packed, making loading slow.

The map loaded with players swarming on mounts, like ants. Some with bad PCs probably crashed here.

Following the crowd, I summoned my mount and flew to the NPC.

The sea of players was overwhelming. Desummoning my mount, I cleared the quest.

Would Altania’s story continue? I was a bit excited.
