Human Capabilities Have Limits

Chapter 181,270 words11 min read

By the time I more or less saw what Kefir had done, Longtao’er was already pinned to the floor, unable to get up, and left with nothing but screams.

As a proud daughter of the heavens, Kefir didn’t go for some cliché like “Who touches my people, I’ll destroy their whole family,” but her swift and sharp counterattack to Longtao’er’s mockery had already filled the room with pig-like screams.

“AAAHHH!! My back!! Damn it, what are you all standing there for!?”

Longtao’er’s screams finally snapped his lackeys out of their daze.

The captain was the first to react!

“Damn it, causing trouble on the lord’s son’s head! Taste my Phantom Sword—”

Whoosh!

Kefir’s figure vanished in an instant. With no ninja vision, by the time I spotted her, the tip of her thin sword was already resting dead-center on the captain’s neck.

As for the captain—forget Phantom Sword Dance—he didn’t even get his sword out. All he could do was tremble…

“H-h-how is this possible!?”

The same guy who just tried to punch me flat was now completely shut down. Realizing something, his iron armor legs started clattering like a drumroll.

“Don’t tell me you’re…”

“The Royal Knights of the Great Ying Empire don’t take orders from local lords. Get ready to go dig ditches.”

“Uuuugh!”

Next second, this hulking man—so much taller than Kefir—curled up into a ball and, ignoring the mockery from his comrades, crawled into a corner and stuck his butt out like an ostrich.

Immediately after, Kefir’s gaze shifted behind the captain.

“I’ll give you three minutes. Line up and squat. Now.”

Of course, those cannon fodder extras weren’t about to listen. After all, their captain couldn’t even beat a regular guy like me—why would they take him seriously now?

“Didn’t think the captain would be such a coward around a woman! Let’s all jump her!”

“Sigh…”

I clearly heard Kefir’s sigh. But when it’s the protagonist sighing, it’s not just a sigh—it’s called “being too OP and getting bored.”

In a flash, sword shadows flew everywhere. Even the captain almost peed himself from a single slash. What could these extras possibly do?

In seconds, the room echoed with groans and cries, as bodies dropped to the floor one after another—and this was just Kefir casually moving around.

Right now, Kefir’s power in the script was both sixth-tier in martial arts and sixth-tier in magic.

To put it simply: not only could she skewer all these extras into kabobs, she could set them on fire and serve them as barbecue too.

Longtao’er, who was just stomped into the ground, finally struggled to his feet.

But what he saw wasn’t some triumphant comeback—it was his lackeys scattered, crying, and broken like they’d just returned from hell.

He looked at me in terror.

“W-who the hell did you call here!?”

Didn’t I already warn you? Don’t steal the spotlight if you’re just an extra. Has anyone who did that in any script ever ended well?

Before I could answer, Longtao’er—still clutching his butt—yelled at Kefir, who had just finished cleaning house and was calmly sheathing her sword.

“Y-you’re finished! You dare lay a hand on me!? I’m the son of the town lord! I’m someone important you’re not even allowed to touch! I’m the man who’ll marry Kefir and become her priest—”

“None of that matters. You colluded with the local knight order. Prepare to have your estate seized. The Empire’s Inquisition is already on the way.”

“Seizing property” isn’t something you say lightly—especially when it’s aimed at a noble.

Longtao’er’s body visibly trembled. Just as he was about to mock something in return, he caught a glimpse of the captain still playing ostrich in the corner.

And then—he remembered something.

His terrified eyes snapped back to Kefir.

“Y-you—who are you!? You’re just an imperial investigator, aren’t you!?”

Are you stupid? You think the Empire sends just one investigator? One who’s this strong?

At the very least, just look at Kefir’s heavenly, main-character aura—does that look like someone normal to you?

“I did come for a confidential investigation,” Kefir said calmly. “But when it comes to punishing a local lord, I’ve got more than enough methods.

Oh, and I should’ve introduced myself earlier. I am the Kefir you just mentioned.

And I already have a personal priest—it’s the person standing right in front of you.”

Longtao’er went completely silent.

Don’t look at me like that. We might both be ‘villains’ in the story, but we’re not on the same team—I’ve already switched sides.

He stared at me in disbelief for a while, then limped toward Kefir with a groaning smile completely different from before.

“No wonder! No wonder you scared that useless knight captain away! You’re that Lady Kefir! Hahaha…”

While instantly selling out the poor captain, Longtao’er scrambled to beg for mercy.

“Miss Kefir, it—it was all a misunderstanding! A big misunderstanding! I had no idea you’d personally visit our town! I just wanted to… pay a visit…”

But now that Kefir’s true identity is out, it’s too late.

From the moment I called her to return, with her protagonist nature, there was never any plan to “just let it go.”

Especially not with Nilu hiding behind me, on the verge of tears.

Longtao’er had well and truly stepped in it.

Kefir kicked him to the floor: “Save your statement for the Inquisition.”

“Miss Kefir, I’ve already apologized… Can’t you at least give me a little face—?”

Begging didn’t work. Longtao’er lowered his head and spoke in a quiet voice.

That was clearly the cue for the next stage of the ‘you’re-doomed’ script.

At this point, I couldn’t be bothered to stop it—even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t get the chance.

Faced with Longtao’er’s “apology,” Kefir just glanced coldly at him.

“You harassed and hurt my friend. You really think I’ll let that slide? Go confess—”

“Don’t push your luck, you b*tch!”

Before she could finish, Longtao’er erupted in fury, cutting her off with a scream.

“You’re just some washed-up ‘genius girl’ from a few years ago! And now what? Still nothing special! If it weren’t for your status, I wouldn’t even give you the time of day!

One day, you’ll just be some ordinary woman pinned down by a man—AHHHHH!!”

Kefir’s expression turned dark in an instant.

No more restraint.

One sword thrust—clean through Longtao’er’s cheek.

She silently watched as he passed out cold, with no sign of waking.

Longtao’er, who took his villainy too far, getting pierced by the protagonist’s blade—this kind of script is nothing new.

And his ending? Obvious.

What puzzled me was—

When he shouted the words “a few years ago,” something in Kefir’s attitude… suddenly turned terrifying.

Even Nilu, behind me, trembled slightly.

“Don’t be afraid, Nilu.”

“Eh? No, I just think the lady is way cooler than you.”

Hey, I know Kefir’s the protagonist, but what about my dignity?

“O-of course, you’re also…”

What? What did you say after that?
