When Yun Ruo opened her eyes again, she was still a little dazed.
She stared blankly for a while before remembering that she was in Idle Cloud Sect, but it was obvious that she wasn’t in her own room.
She opened her mouth to speak, but her throat seemed to be blocked by something, and only let out a hoarse breath.
She slowly turned her eyes and saw a row of familiar wooden shelves, with various tools and items on them.
On the wooden shelf closest to her were several chubby little chicks, but they weren’t as good-looking as hers, and one of them was missing a piece.
It was Bai Liye’s room.
Yun Ruo’s mind was still dizzy.
She tried hard to get up, but the door was pushed open, and a figure quickly walked in.
They went to the bedside and put a hand on her shoulder, pressing her back down: “Hey, Yun Ruo, don’t move! You still have a fever.”
Yun Ruo leaned back on the bed, feeling dizzy: “Lin Wang?”
Lin Wang: “Not bad, you can still recognize people. Does anything hurt?”
Yun Ruo shook her head, but shook herself even more dizzy.
She quickly stopped moving.
Lin Wang put a soft, thick cushion behind her back, letting her sit up halfway.
“I… how am I here?” Yun Ruo asked softly.
“Drink some water,” Lin Wang brought the cup by the bed to her, watched her take a few sips, and then took the cup back and put it down before explaining to her.
“Your room is too small, it’s not convenient for someone to take care of you. This is Ah Ye’s room, he’s been sleeping in my room these past few days.”
“Oh,” Yun Ruo nodded slowly.
“Don’t worry”, Lin Wang said.
“You just consumed a lot of spiritual power in a short period of time, and you don’t know how to control it, so your body is weak and you got sick. You’ll be fine after a few days of rest. With me here, I guarantee your little illness will be cured by medicine.”
Yun Ruo looked at him suspiciously.
“Don’t look at him like that, his medical skills are indeed good, he didn’t lie to you. If it wasn’t for him, you wouldn’t be awake now.”
Yun Ruo tilted her head slightly.
Bai Liye walked in, holding a bowl in his hand.
Before he got close, Yun Ruo smelled the strong smell of medicine, and frowned.
Bai Liye paused imperceptibly: “Don’t like drinking medicine?”
Who would like drinking medicine?
“Is it for me?” Yun Ruo asked.
“No, it’s for me,” Lin Wang said.
Yun Ruo: “…”
Bai Liye kicked Lin Wang speechlessly, telling him to get out of the way.
He sat down by the bed himself.
Seeing that he was going to feed her medicine, Yun Ruo reached out and took the bowl.
She took a deep breath, and dūn dūn dūn (drank it all in one gulp), drinking all the medicine.
Her throat was bitter, but she felt much better, and her head wasn’t as dizzy.
Lin Wang took the bowl out, and came back in a while, still with the same bowl, but it was filled with honey water this time, telling Yun Ruo not to drink it all in one gulp, but to drink it slowly.
There was a calming medicine added inside, which could help her sleep well and restore her energy.
Yun Ruo obediently held the bowl and took small sips, Bai Liye didn’t go out, and just sat by the bed watching her.
Yun Ruo felt like she was sitting on pins and needles from being watched: “Can you go out? I can drink it myself.”
“No,” Bai Liye said.
“Lin Wang is still brewing medicine, and you have to drink another bowl of medicine after you finish the sugar water. I have to watch you so I can’t let you fall asleep.”
“Oh,” Yun Ruo suddenly felt that the honey water in her mouth wasn’t sweet anymore.
“How is Jiang Beishan?” After drinking the honey water, she did feel a little drowsy, so she had to find a topic to keep herself awake.
“He’s lying down drinking medicine just like you,” Bai Liye smiled.
“You saved him. If that kid could move, he would definitely come and watch over you. We don’t mention you in front of him now, he cries when we mention you, it’s not very auspicious.”
Yun Ruo: “…” What the hell was not auspicious.
“How is Ji Yueci?”
“She’s fine, she suffered some injuries, but it’s not a big problem.”
“What happened to that matter later? What about the town down the mountain?”
“They’re all fine. A few people from the Academy came, and the demon beasts in the mountains were dispersed. I don’t know how they dealt with the Spirit-Devouring Beasts in Qíng tiáo shān. As for the ones in our courtyard, they all thought they were trapped and killed by us with the formations in the sect. I didn’t explain.”
Yun Ruo was a little half-asleep, and the questions she asked started out okay, barely making sense, but later they became random, just chatting without a purpose.
She not only asked about everyone in the sect, but also asked about Big Yellow, Big White, Second White, Third White, and the chickens, and even asked why Lin Wang didn’t call her Dirty Face anymore and called her name instead.
No matter what she asked, Bai Liye answered patiently, taking great care of the patient’s mood, and even if he couldn’t answer, he would casually make up a few words.
For example, his answer to Yun Ruo’s question about why Lin Wang changed his name was very outrageous: “Your face isn’t dirty now, it’s been wiped clean, it’s very clean. Yueci even helped you change your clothes.”
Yun Ruo felt that this answer seemed to make sense, but there were also big problems.
She wasn’t dirty before either? She was only dirty once.
She turned to look at Bai Liye, but saw several small chicks on the shelf.
She definitely wouldn’t have asked if it was normal, but now she had a fever, her mind was dull, and whatever she thought of, she said, and her tone was quite emotional: “Bai Liye, you really like chickens.”
Bai Liye was stunned, feeling that the topic jumped a little too fast: “…What makes you say that?”
Yun Ruo yawned sleepily, and said in a tone as if she had discovered his secret: “You bought the chickens raised in the courtyard, and you made several handmade chicks on the shelf. The one you gave me was also a chicken. Hehe, I can’t believe you’re so childlike.”
Bai Liye: “…Hehe, what?”
“Say something, I’m so sleepy,” Yun Ruo yawned several times, her half-open eyes filled with mist.
Bai Liye did as she wished: “Do you remember what happened that night?”
Of course, Yun Ruo nodded.
“What’s wrong? I remember I fainted at that time, and just woke up. Did anything else happen later?”
“Nothing,” Bai Liye lowered his eyes.
Yun Ruo’s sluggish brain suddenly flashed with inspiration, and she operated her dizzy brain.
That’s right, Bai Liye caught her when she fainted, so Bai Liye was the one who carried her back to the room.
Maybe he felt that her room was small and not convenient to take care of her, so Bai Liye was the one who moved her over.
Yun Ruo silently shut her mouth.
If Bai Liye didn’t mention it, she certainly wouldn’t mention it.
It was normal to hug someone who had fainted, but looking at Bai Liye’s expression, he obviously had something to say but didn’t say it… Could it be that he carried her over?
That would be too inhumane!
Yun Ruo glared at Bai Liye.
Bai Liye raised his eyes: “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Yun Ruo returned his words to him.
Because she wasn’t feeling well, she was pouting.
Bai Liye: “?” What’s wrong?
Lin Wang brought in the medicine he had brewed.
It was already lukewarm.
Yun Ruo still drank it all in one gulp heroically, and could no longer resist the drowsiness and fell asleep.
The room quieted down, and only Yun Ruo’s shallow breathing could be heard.
Bai Liye waited for her to fall asleep, tested her forehead temperature, and only then did he take the bowls by the bed out to wash them.
Before closing the door, he looked into the room again.
Yun Ruo was curled up in the quilt, half of her face sunk into the soft pillow, sleeping very peacefully.
It seemed that she really didn’t remember what happened after she fainted.
That night, he carried the fainted Yun Ruo back to her room, and then went to move Jiang Beishan.
Lin Wang and Ji Yueci brought back reinforcements.
Half of the immortal cultivators who came were dispersing the demon beasts down the mountain, and the other half were facing a formidable enemy.
They thought there would be a fierce battle, but they didn’t expect that the problem had already been solved.
They misunderstood on their own, and Bai Liye was too lazy to explain.
Lin Wang went to see the two people who were unconscious.
Jiang Beishan’s injuries were more serious, all of which he had caused himself when he lost control of his speed.
His leg was broken, but it was already a stroke of luck that he was alive.
Yun Ruo’s injuries weren’t serious, it was just that she had overused her spiritual power and was exhausted.
But she couldn’t control the aura running around in her body, and was unconscious, so if her qi deviated, she would experience pain all over her body, so someone needed to stay by her side to help her smooth her aura.
Lin Wang had to prepare medicine and watch Jiang Beishan, so this matter naturally fell on Bai Liye.
Ji Yueci helped Yun Ruo change her clothes and wiped her body, and was caught by Lin Wang to bandage her wounds and drink medicine.
Lin Wang was a little worried before leaving: “Ah Ye, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Bai Liye sat down by Yun Ruo’s bed.
“She solved the Spirit-Devouring Beasts, and that kid Jiang Beishan was also saved by her. I didn’t use much spiritual power.”
“Alright,” Lin Wang nodded.
“Give her two of your candies, it’ll help smooth her aura.”
“I already fed her,” Bai Liye said.
That’s what he said, but after Lin Wang and the others left, Bai Liye took out the candy box, pinched off the little stick, and fed Yun Ruo another one.
Probably because her aura wasn’t smooth, she didn’t sleep very well.
Her eyelids were constantly moving, and Bai Liye put his hand on her wrist to help her smooth her breathing.
He got up to get a drink, and when he came back, he found that Yun Ruo had kicked off the quilt.
Her whole body was curled up, her cheeks were flushed from the fever, her eyes were half-open, and she was muttering something in a muffled voice.
He pulled the quilt up to cover her, but Yun Ruo raised her hand to block it, and said softly, “Don’t.”
Bai Liye had no choice but to take the quilt away, trying to reason with her: “Lin Wang said you’ll have a fever, you have to cover yourself with a quilt to sweat.”
Yun Ruo didn’t say anything.
He covered her with the quilt again, and was greeted with another “Don’t.”
But this time Yun Ruo didn’t move, and lay flat on the bed, her voice as light as a fallen leaf swept away by the wind: “Don’t…”
“Yun Ruo? Hey?” Bai Liye wasn’t sure if she was awake, or if she was having a nightmare.
He didn’t have any experience taking care of sick people, and didn’t know what to do.
He just wanted to help her put the quilt on, but he didn’t expect her to be so resistant.
Probably hearing someone call her name, Yun Ruo’s mumbling stopped.
Bai Liye bent down to check.
Suddenly, his collar was grabbed, and Yun Ruo clenched his collar tightly with both hands, so hard that her knuckles turned white.
Her eyes were also open, but her gaze was empty, her focus scattered.
Her voice was stuck in her throat, sobbing softly: “It hurts so much…”
“Where does it hurt?” Bai Liye pinched her hand, pried open her fingers, not letting her hurt herself.
“Does your head hurt? Or does your body hurt somewhere? Yun Ruo?”
Yun Ruo’s gaze passed through him, not looking at anything, and ignoring his words.
She opened her mouth with a trembling voice: “It hurts so much… It hurts so much, Senior Brother… Stop… It’s so dark here, so narrow, I’m so scared… Let me out… Don’t…”
She seemed to be having a nightmare, her tone was urgent and fearful.
She pushed Bai Liye away and struggled to get up on the bed, her whole body was shaking.
Tears streamed down her face, but she gritted her teeth and refused to cry out loud, repeating that she wanted to go out, and that it was too dark and narrow here, and very scary.
Bai Liye had no choice but to pick her up and take her out of the room, and her struggles slowly subsided.
She lay on his shoulder, trembling uncontrollably.
He suddenly remembered that every time he saw Yun Ruo at night, she wasn’t in her own room.
Once under the big tree in the courtyard, and once on the roof, saying that she was looking at the stars.
He didn’t care, and just casually asked her if she liked to look at the stars.
She said the starry sky in Idle Cloud Sect was very nice.
Was she really looking at the stars?
He carried Yun Ruo back to his room, and she didn’t make any more noise, sleeping soundly under the covers.
Bai Liye looked at Yun Ruo thoughtfully.
If he hadn’t heard wrong just now, she had called out “Senior Brother”, and the other person seemed to scare her.
What kind of nightmare was this?
