The night deepened, thick as ink. A blanket, like a wild horse unbridled, soared uncontrollably into the high heavens.
Upon the blanket, Zhang Xiaocha huddled, her body curled into a tight ball. Her hands clung desperately to the edges, knuckles stark white from the strain. Her dark, round eyes were wide with a mixture of terror and panic.
[Wuwuwu…]
[You stinky blanket, what are you trying to do to me? Chacha was wrong, I shouldn’t have cursed you…]
[Please, let Chacha down, okay? Chacha has so many snacks waiting for me at home. If they can’t become friends with Chacha’s little tummy tonight, they’ll surely die of sadness… Wuwuwu…]
Listening to the howling wind in her ears, her small face scrunched up. She vigorously rubbed the tears from her eyes with one hand, while cautiously inching her tiny body towards the center of the blanket.
Suddenly!
The sharp, piercing wind in her ears subsided. On the blanket, her small body, previously curled into a ball, slowly relaxed. The little hands covering her eyes gradually parted, revealing a narrow slit between her fingers.
Her autumn-water eyes darted around, then cautiously she wriggled to the edge of the blanket. Gazing down at the Misty Peak, which had finally stopped shrinking, her lips instinctively curved upwards. Her eyes sparkled. [Mmm…]
[Oh, this is great! You finally stopped, Blankie! You scared Chacha to death… Wuwuwu…]
Her voice was soft and gentle. Just then, the blanket, suspended in mid-air, swiftly folded in half, tightly encasing her within. Only her small head remained visible.
Immediately after, a powerful sensation of weightlessness struck. The magical blanket, still tightly wrapped around Zhang Xiaocha, began to plummet rapidly.
Her small face pointed downwards as the ground rapidly expanded before her eyes. Her waterfall-like hair flew wildly in the air, completely untamed. She tried to circulate the spiritual energy within her to break free, but suddenly found her spiritual energy stagnant. [Ahhh! You stinky blanket, even if Chacha croaks, I won’t let you off!]
As she spoke, she fiercely opened her small mouth, gnawing frantically at the blanket’s edge like a tiny squirrel. “Ahhh! You stinky blanket, Chacha is going to bite you to death!”
“Bite you to death! Wuwuwu…”
Her body descended at a terrifying speed, accelerating with each passing moment. Just as she was about to hit the ground, Zhang Xiaocha’s descent abruptly halted in mid-air. Her small face instantly went blank, her mouth still clamped tightly onto the magical blanket. Her large eyes, wide and round, were filled with confusion as she instinctively looked downwards.
She watched as the ground rapidly grew larger in her vision once more. “Ahhh!”
“Stinky blanket, do you really enjoy bullying Chacha this much?”
A familiar, sweet voice descended from high above, echoing in Luo Bingning’s ears. Her body jolted violently. Gazing at the red lips drawing closer before her, she instinctively pushed Mu Xi away. “No… Neither I nor Xiaocha can accept a relationship like this… And I can’t wrong Xiaocha anymore…”
“Xiaocha and I have already… already…”
Her voice trailed off. Luo Bingning nodded, her long eyelashes concealing the complex emotions in her eyes. “I’m sorry…”
Mu Xi stumbled, nearly falling. Her eyes instantly welled up with redness, filled with grievance and disbelief. “Bing… Bingning, you… you pushed me?”
Her voice trembled, laced with a sob. Her delicate lips were slightly pouted, her lower lip quivering faintly.
As if unwilling to give up, she extended a slender hand, reaching for Luo Bingning’s skirt. However, Luo Bingning turned sideways, evading her grasp and leaving her hand awkwardly suspended in mid-air.
Tears welled in her eyes, then streamed down her fair cheeks, dripping onto her skirt and soaking a small patch of fabric. Her arms hung limply, her shoulders trembling as she sobbed silently. She murmured to herself, “Why…”
“Why… It shouldn’t have been like this…”
Memories of the past surged, one after another, through her mind.
On the bed, Mu Xi lay languidly sprawled across the soft quilt, propping her cheek with one hand. She idly flipped through a storybook. Her gaze, in her peripheral vision, swept over Luo Bingning, who sat cross-legged nearby, still cultivating with closed eyes.
A flicker of slyness swiftly crossed her autumn-water eyes. A pained groan escaped her lips. “Mmm…”
She secretly circulated the spiritual energy within her, causing her originally rosy cheeks to instantly turn deathly pale.
Luo Bingning abruptly opened her eyes. Seeing Mu Xi’s pained expression, her heart clenched sharply. “Xi Xi, what’s wrong?” she exclaimed.
“Bingning… I have no heart anymore… It hurts so much…” she said weakly.
“No heart? How could that be?” Luo Bingning’s brows furrowed deeply.
“Really… If you don’t believe me, touch it…” With that, she took Luo Bingning’s small hand and guided it to her own chest.
Thump-thump-thump— Her heart beat powerfully.
Feeling the softness, Luo Bingning’s pretty face flushed faintly, and her fingertips trembled gently. Then she heard a soft moan from Mu Xi. “Mmm~” Luo Bingning turned her head away, her expression flustered. “This… isn’t it there?”
“Hmm? No, I don’t feel my heart at all~ Could it be that…” Her voice deliberately paused.
Watching her flustered appearance, Mu Xi gave a playful smile. She encircled Luo Bingning’s slender waist, leaning into her ear. “My heart has run off to you~” she purred seductively.
Mu Xi’s warm breath brushed against Luo Bingning’s earlobe, ticklish~
Luo Bingning’s delicate body trembled, and she retorted, flushed with indignation, “Xi Xi, you’re going to be the death of me~ I’ll definitely bully you to death later~”
“Later? What ‘later’? How will you bully me~” Mu Xi blinked her innocent, wide eyes, feigning ignorance.
“Ah! You’re still talking!” With that, she pounced on Mu Xi.
“Wuwuwu… I was wrong~ Don’t~ Don’t bully me anymore…”
Within the secret realm, they faced an encirclement by several Foundation Establishment stage demonic beasts.
“Go quickly!” Luo Bingning threw Mu Xi out.
“No, Bingning! I won’t go… If we go, we go together…”
Inside the cave, Mu Xi gazed at Luo Bingning, who was barely clinging to life. A resolute look in her eyes, she slashed her own wrist, and golden blood gushed forth. She quickly brought her wrist to Luo Bingning’s mouth.
Although the Exquisite Physique was not as powerful as the Divine Phoenix Physique, its strength lay in its formidable regenerative capabilities. As long as Bingning assimilated her physique, she would surely survive.
Feeling the life force rapidly fading within her, her eyelids grew heavy, and her consciousness blurred. Gazing at the face so close to her, she lifted her heavy, fair wrist, extending a fingertip to slowly draw near. “Bingning, I… I really like you… Can we…”
Just as her fingertip was about to make contact, her body slowly collapsed. ‘Be together,’ she wanted to say.
“Xi Xi!”
“Xi Xi, don’t sleep, don’t sleep…”
That was the last sound she heard before losing consciousness, filled with tension and fear.
Gazing at the graceful figure not far away, she managed a miserable smile. “We’ve been through so much together. We were just one thin pane of paper away from that kind of relationship, yet why have things turned out like this?”
Silver moonlight spilled before the Lan Zhi Residence, illuminating Mu Xi’s slender figure. She wore a light yellow silk dress. A gentle breeze stirred her ink-black hair, letting strands fall haphazardly across her haggard face, further emphasizing her sorrowful appearance.
Her eyes were vacant and lost as she stared blankly at the ground. Her tightly bitten lower lip had long since lost its color. Her body trembled slightly, as if she were fiercely suppressing the surging pain within her.
She did not step forward again, simply standing there in quiet stillness.
Luo Bingning watched the frail figure not far away, a look of unbearable sadness in her eyes. Suppressing the urge to pull her into an embrace, she turned her head away, no longer looking at her. “I’m sorry…”
Thud—
A figure plummeted from the sky, landing with a crash between the two women, kicking up a cloud of dust. A soft, sweet voice emerged from within.
“Mmm… Chacha is in so much pain…”
“You hateful, stinky blanket, hurry up and let Chacha go…”
Zhang Xiaocha glared at the obnoxious blanket still wrapped around her. Her brows furrowed deeply as she struggled, twisting her small body with all her might.
Just then, faint footsteps suddenly reached her ears. She instinctively looked up, only to see a familiar face. Her expression stiffened slightly. “Se… Senior Sister?”
Her voice paused slightly. Her dark, round eyes darted about, her small mind working furiously. “Hehehehe~” Her small mouth opened slightly, emitting an awkward laugh.
At the same time, her small body, still enveloped by the magical blanket, wriggled vigorously on the ground like a caterpillar, attempting to move away from Luo Bingning.
Her small head frantically brainstormed a plan. Just as Luo Bingning swung her hand towards her, Zhang Xiaocha’s face instantly went pale. She desperately craned her neck, feigning surprise as she stared exaggeratedly at the empty space behind Luo Bingning. “Mmm…”
“Mas… Master, you… why are you here? Senior Sister is bullying me, hurry and deal with her!”
Her voice was soft, sweet, and cloying.
“Is that so… What a shame, then…” A faint hint of disappointment colored Luo Bingning’s eyes.
“Exactly! So why don’t you hurry and release me, Great Chacha…”
Before she could even finish her sentence, a sharp pain shot through her neck. Her small face crumpled, and her vision gradually blurred. “Mmm…”
“Luo Bingning, you…” she groaned in agony.
Her small head swayed gently, then suddenly tilted to the side, and she completely lost consciousness.
Gazing at Zhang Xiaocha on the ground, still wrapped in the blanket with only her small head visible, Luo Bingning’s beautiful eyes held a complex swirl of emotions, as if an endless stream of feelings flowed within them.
She scooped her up and was about to turn and leave. It seemed she wanted to say something more, but then paused, glancing briefly at Mu Xi behind her. Ultimately, however, she said nothing, and with a flash, vanished from the spot.
Before the Lan Zhi Residence, Mu Xi stared at the vanished figure, her eyes vacant, as if her soul had long since departed her body, leaving only an empty shell. Her cracked lips trembled slightly as she mechanically repeated, “I can’t wrong Xiaocha anymore, but what about me?”
“What about me…”
Her fingers instinctively curled, her nails unconsciously digging into her palms, leaving crescent-shaped marks.
