Chapter 18: The one who is better at the game is the older brother.

A filming studio in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province.

Victory Jeon Woo-seung was filming an advertisement there.

The world’s most popular game’s number one pro-gamer.

He was still writing his myth of undefeated records, but he had to pay attention to many things outside of the game.

Because he was a superstar.

“Such a shame.”

It would have been really fun if he could team up with Legender again after such a long time.

But with his schedule packed for the next two weeks, he simply couldn’t participate in content that would take that much time.

He couldn’t ask anyone to wait for two weeks.

Zzz.

His phone alarm went off as he held it.

[Tryit TV announces the legendary player’s broadcast.]

[Let’s aim for 30 levels with a perfect record! (Has one assistant)]

[Category: Teamfight Arena]

An assistant, huh.

It looks like he found someone to team up with.

He wondered who thought they could replace him.

<Assistant?>

<Why call it an assistant and not a duo? Haha>

<Are you really showing noob vibes even here?>

<At least remove the duo mask and show your real self!>

<Wait, is it really Victory?>

Suddenly starting a joint broadcast, viewers were left wondering who Victory was teaming up with.

Who could possibly be his teammate?

─”Hello, this is Team Proud’s Wild.”

<Wow>

<What a network>

<I thought you were a newbie, but you’re actually in a crazy royal bloodline>

<Victory’s friend and Wild’s friend haha>

<Like attracts like, huh?>

<If I become friends, can I reach number one in Teamfight Arena’s rankings?>

<Becoming friends won’t make you number one, you need to be rank one to be accepted as a friend>

<That’s brutal…>

“Juni-hyung deserves recognition.”

If anyone could stop Victory, the first person to be mentioned was Team Proud’s Wild, Lee Jun.

Unfortunately, Wild lost every big match and handed all the trophies to Victory.

But still, Wild’s team, Team Proud, was the only one to put a dent in Victory’s record, even if it was just a set loss or a few points.

Two-time domestic league runner-up, one-time Worlds runner-up, the living embodiment of a runner-up, Lee Jun.

Because his name was also Lee Jun, he was ridiculed and called “22” or “Jun-Jun,” but he was still an extraordinary player.

Victory was just one step ahead.

Victory recalled a memory.

The three of them had played the same game together many times back then.

“We’ll continue the shoot.”

With the director’s announcement, Victory had to turn off the broadcast and return to his work.

“It’s such a shame.”

But they would definitely have another chance to play together soon.

Maybe it would be in the challenger’s top ranks.

That thought made Victory smile.

“Your expression has brightened up. Something good must have happened.”

“I think I’ll get a great gift before the league starts.”

“You’ve won every tournament you’ve entered, right? Then, of course, you deserve the best treatment.”

It wasn’t the team giving something.

An old friend would bring an amazing gift.

“By now, they must have figured out that I’m a pro.”

The game of not revealing Legender’s true identity as a pro was something Victory and his viewers had been playing.

But since Wild had outright revealed he was from Team Proud, it was over now.

Victory was a bit disappointed he couldn’t surprise them by revealing it himself.

Maybe there was a better timing for it?

“Team Proud? Is that like an agency?”

That was a curse of shallow knowledge.

Seol-ah had lived far from games for a long time.

But she had overheard some kids talking in a waiting room about how “pros are ranked lower.”

“Because they prepare for tournaments intensely, they don’t have time to climb the solo ranks.”

She hadn’t heard the full conversation, but that was actually true.

When talking about a pro’s career, solo rank is barely mentioned.

Tournaments are much more important.

Even if you stay at solo rank 1 for a long time, it doesn’t matter much compared to winning tournaments.

But now, it was an exception.

The stove league.

The break between the world championships and the start of the domestic spring season.

This is when pros enter solo ranks and push up their positions.

During this time, not improving in solo ranks doesn’t necessarily hurt their evaluation, but…

These were people who loved the game so much that they became pros.

Most people are driven by a strong competitive spirit.

Because it’s something they can excel at.

Because it’s fun.

Most professional gamers focused on climbing the rankings.

As a result, we now have the current situation: Victory at 1st place, Wild at 2nd, and 9 pro players in the top 10.

There’s a clear difference between people who play games as a hobby and those who do it as a profession.

Seol-ah, who didn’t know the backstory, thought this way.

“Since the ranking is high, they must be professional streamers, not pros.”

The conclusion she reached was.

“All three of them are streamers? This is really fun.”

Old friends playing on the same ground together.

Is there any more fun situation than this?

<Victory was born in 2003 and Wild in 1999, how are they all friends?>

<How old is the host?>

“Does it really matter? In the gaming world, the one who’s best is the older brother. So, I’m the oldest.”

“Who came crying asking for help because they couldn’t go undefeated on their own?”

“That’s because this game is a team game designed to make solo carrying difficult.”

─”Hmm, hmm. I think I’d be much better at that team game.”

The most inflammatory line in a pride battle among men.

You suck at the game, I’m better.

<Pride battle has begun haha>

<Should we settle the ranks before we leave?>

<You! Follow me to the roof!>

<Arena fight? Haha>

In Teamfight Arena, 1v1s are definitely important.

Of course, it’s not all about that, but if you perform well in 1v1s, there’s a lot to gain.

The best part is that you can immediately go head-to-head.

“How about we settle this once and for all? The loser has to call the other one ‘hyung’ for a day.”

“Sure, let’s go.”

Recently, Wild, the captain of Team Proud, had a Spring league 5th place, Summer runner-up, and Worlds runner-up.

A true 2nd-place team.

The guy who was once a legendary player in Magical Fight, now recognized by Victory and Wild, (fake) Legendary.

The match of the century was about to begin.

“But what’s an Arena fight?”

Let me explain the rules.

Teamfight Arena had various mechanisms to prevent the game from becoming stale.

The game is played to 50 kills, but if one side keeps running away or camps in a corner, dragging the time, it’s boring.

At the 5-minute mark, one of the four spires on the map activates.

If you control that spire at the 10-minute mark, you get 500 gold and 50% of the experience for your current level.

At 15 minutes, an arena event happens, and while standing on an arena point, you continuously earn gold and experience.

At 20 minutes, if you control the arena point, you get 1000 gold and one level-up.

At 25 minutes, there’s a disastrous awakening event that ends the game, but I’ll explain that later.

The 1v1 Arena fight uses the arena event that happens at 15 minutes.

“Let’s both get to level 3, then go head-to-head in the Arena.”

You can customize the game settings to start the Arena event at 5 minutes instead of 15.

At 5 minutes, no matter which champion you choose or where you start, you can clear 3 neutral monster camps to reach level 3 and make it to the Arena in time.

Once the Arena point activates at 5 minutes, the fight begins, and the first to get a kill wins.

<If you step on the point for 30 seconds at level 3, you’ll level up, so keep that in mind.>

<Oh, you know that?>

<Looks like you’ve played some Arena fights haha>

‘We’ll either win with power at level 3, or by pushing for 30 seconds to level up.’

Seol-ah planned her strategy based on the chat’s advice.

‘Let’s go with brute force.’

She picked her most-used champion, the Illusionist.

If I dodge everything and hit all the shots, how could I lose?

Facing Seol-ah was Wild, Lee Jun, who picked…

<Blacksmith?>

<Your conscience has failed haha>

<If you don’t know, you’ll get hit~ if you don’t know, you’ll get hit~ if you don’t know, you’ll get hit~>

<I thought you were going for a power fight, but this is so cheesy haha>

<???: I give my best in every fight.>

<Picking the cheesy champion haha>

It was a cheesy pick.
