Red looked at the security guard before her, who wore an awkward smile.
He was hesitant to refuse a beauty’s request, but something seemed amiss.
‘Xia Yupeng, could he be trying to pocket the “Fire in a Bottle” and run?’
This concern wasn’t unfounded. Though the “Fire in a Bottle” was useless to someone like Magical Girl Red, it was a treasure to those monsters, guaranteeing a handsome reward.
“Hurry up and call Xia Yupeng down! Don’t tell me he’s hiding and afraid to face me. Does he want to make this a hostile situation?”
She was about to lose her temper, ready to force Xia Yupeng out.
But then, a woman patted her shoulder from behind.
Red turned around to see a beautiful woman dressed in black, her face covered by a black veil, looking visibly angry.
Then, the woman slapped Red across the face.
Red was about to demand who she was, but then she noticed the other people in the lobby were watching them, their eyes filled with obvious disgust as they looked at her.
“Who the hell are you? That hurt, you know?” Red said, rubbing her reddened cheek and cracking her neck.
“I should be asking who you are, barging in and bossing around my fiancé. Where did you crawl out from, you country bumpkin?”
“Is there a problem with me speaking my mind? This… older…” Red paused, searching for a suitable term before shrugging. “…Big sister!”
The woman seemed easily angered. Though Red didn’t know what she had misunderstood, she finally snapped.
The veiled woman swung another slap at Red, but this time, a smug smile appeared on Red’s face.
The veiled woman sensed something was wrong and tried to pull back her hand, but in that instant, a force propelled her hand forward, making the slap even faster.
Both in terms of emotional release and raw power, this was the hardest slap the woman had ever delivered, and its effect was remarkable.
The woman’s head was directly knocked off, a large amount of red liquid spraying from her neck.
Red droplets splattered on the veiled woman’s face, and even through the veil, her eyes showed terror.
The lobby erupted into chaos after a brief moment of silence.
“Ah! Murder!”
“What do we do? Call the police?”
“Are you kidding? A lot of our work is on the edge of the law. Do you want us to get shut down?”
The veiled woman, however, stood frozen in place. She hadn’t meant for this to happen.
She only wanted to teach the rude woman a lesson, not kill her. What would happen now?
Would she live the rest of her life as a murderer? Many people had seen her, and what would Xia Yupeng think of her?
Her mind raced, but the more she thought, the more pessimistic she became.
“What’s going on here? Why is it so noisy?” A woman with a dog’s nose came down from the elevator, and the moment she stepped out, she saw the veiled woman standing there in a daze.
“Miss Beta, you’re on my side, right? Let me explain. I didn’t mean to…”
“What’s wrong, Miss Yang? Where did you get that tomato sauce on your face?”
“I came in and saw this woman yelling at my husband. I just wanted to teach her some respect.
I only slapped her, but I didn’t want to kill her, really! You have to believe me!” The veiled woman latched onto her like a drowning person.
“How about wiping the tomato sauce off your face first? And that person you’re talking about… is that the dummy lying on the floor?”
“Yes.” The veiled woman calmed down a bit. “That dummy over there is the one I slapped… Dummy, tomato sauce.”
The veiled woman looked at Beta and pointed at the headless “corpse” lying on the ground. “Dummy, tomato sauce?”
Beta simply nodded.
The veiled woman wiped a drop on her finger, smelled it, and then tasted it. It was tomato sauce. So, it was tomato sauce.
“Speaking of which, what happened to your nose?”
“That was a mistake in the boss’s experiment. He wanted to see if he could reduce my beastly features to make me look better, but unfortunately, my nose changed. To be honest, it’s not very comfortable.”
The veiled woman slowly turned her head and walked towards the headless dummy.
She leaned in to examine it closely and found that it was incredibly crude.
Although it looked like a person from the outside, looking at the severed neck revealed that it was mostly filled with tomato sauce.
The woman stood up, took a few steps, and then fainted.
Meanwhile, the real Red had already left through the stairwell, able to sense what was happening downstairs.
When the woman attacked, Red realized that creating chaos would provide an opportunity to escape.
So, in that instant, she used the “golden cicada shedding its shell” trick, using her staff’s transformation ability to create a doppelganger that looked exactly like her to simulate being slapped and provoke the easily angered woman into slapping her again. She wasn’t sure which word or phrase had triggered her, but it probably wasn’t too difficult to guess.
Finally, she considered that the young miss’s strength probably wouldn’t be enough to break her dummy.
As long as she gave it a little push, the fake death scene would be a complete success.
‘You can’t just unleash all that energy at such a young age, Missy.’
She only knew that she was being bathed in white light, and her entire body began to feel heavy and melt.
The sensation was transmitted from various sensors to the central processor, but strangely, the high-temperature alarm was not triggered.
“Do you understand what you’re doing?”
A voice rang out from behind her. She turned her head and saw a handsome woman in a suit sitting across the table, calmly looking at her.
She looked around. She was in a park, sitting on a bench. The sun was shining brightly, birds flew across the sky, and the peach blossoms were in full bloom.
She wanted to answer.
But she answered before she could think.
“I know, so this power shouldn’t be enjoyed by me alone. The fire should be passed down from generation to generation. Only then can we flourish”
A man’s voice came from her mouth. She wanted to touch her lips, but it wasn’t what she wanted to say. Her hands, however, began to dance excitedly against her will.
“Do you know how difficult it is to become strong in this world? If you’re an ordinary person, you’ll always be ordinary.
If you have talent, you can be chosen as a Magical Girl, or if you’re slightly eccentric or mentally unstable, you can become a monster. Not to mention those supernatural beings, that’s not a path for humans to take.
There are so few ways to become strong. Humans can only be kept like lab rats by those things.
If those guys deviate from their original intentions even slightly, what power do humans have to resist in their hands? So join me!”
Then she saw herself as a ball of fire being held in a man’s hand and handed to the woman.
“Okay, then I look forward to your performance, ****” The woman finally showed a hint of interest, as if the man’s words had moved her.
She then realized one thing: she was watching a stranger’s memories.
“I dream of a grand world, where everyone…”
But she didn’t hear the man finish his sentence before she woke up.
She turned her head and saw her master—the boss—talking to a strange woman. The ball of fire had disappeared.
Since she was activated, the ball of fire she had encountered and the memories she had seen were all quite abnormal, but this was normal.
After all, in the era when she was manufactured, monsters were just legends, not reality.
Drip. A drop of liquid rolled down her forehead. She reached out to touch it, and a strange, moist feeling made her freeze.
Then, why was she sweating now?
