The smell of blood in the air was so thick it was almost tangible.
Black gripped the Overlord Spear tightly, his knuckles turning white.
He knew that the culprit who had created this hell was not far ahead.
Sure enough.
After rounding a half-collapsed wall, Black saw the monster.
It was an incredibly ugly being.
It barely maintained a humanoid torso.
A thick dragon tail swayed unconsciously behind it.
Curved dragon horns grew from the sides of its head.
Its entire body was naked.
Its skin was covered in a layer of constantly writhing black scales.
Its spine was twisted and deformed, and protruding bone spurs pierced through its skin.
Its left arm had swelled into a huge dragon claw, its sharp talons scratching the ground.
Its right arm, however, still retained the shape of a human arm, its five fingers twitching convulsively.
Its entire form was like a grotesque product of forcibly combining a human and a dragon.
Black recognized it.
The remnant soul of the Dragon-Corrupted, Leonard Deladi.
An existence that should have dissipated thousands of years ago.
He was the direct disciple of one of the Twelve Sages, the Alchemist Sage.
A true Emperor-Tier powerhouse.
What a pity.
In the end, he had fallen into a Dragon-Corrupted under the curse of the Demonic Dragon King and had become what he was now.
At this moment, the monster had its back to Black.
Its massive body was prostrated on the ground, seemingly gnawing on something.
It made a nauseating chewing sound.
Dark red blood spread out from under its body, forming a small pool of blood.
Black held his breath, using the shadow of the broken wall to conceal himself, and looked intently.
He saw it clearly. What the monster was gnawing on was a human corpse.
From the corpse’s slender figure, it should be a young girl.
Her hair seemed to be… white!
Black’s heart suddenly skipped a beat, then began to pound frantically.
A terrifying thought emerged in his mind.
‘It can’t be?!’
An icy chill shot up from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
Killing intent surged wildly in Black’s heart.
Just then, the monster that was feeding suddenly, in a way that completely defied physiological structure.
Twisted its head one hundred and eighty degrees!
Its pair of ferocious vertical pupils locked precisely onto Black, who was hidden in the shadows!
Its mouth, full of sharp teeth, was chewing on a severed human limb.
The next second, it spat out the limb and its mouth split open.
It revealed a hair-raising smile.
“I heard it… your heartbeat!”
Before its words fell, Leonard’s figure vanished from the spot like a phantom!
Black’s pupils suddenly constricted to the size of a pinprick!
[You have entered a state of Flow.]
The threat of death directly triggered his Flow state.
Almost on pure instinct, Black activated Autumn Wind’s Three Folds.
He rapidly retreated!
“BOOM!”
The moment his figure disappeared.
The spot where he had been standing, along with the broken wall, was pulverized by a terrifying force!
Shattered rock shot out, and dust filled the air.
Leonard’s figure appeared in the dust.
Having missed, he stuck out his forked tongue and licked the bloodstains on the corner of his mouth.
His eyes glinted with a hungry light.
“Fresh flesh!”
“ROAR!”
It let out an inhuman roar.
An even more terrifying wave of black energy erupted from its body.
Its figure blurred again, turning into a blood-red afterimage, and it pounced towards Black, who had just regained his footing!
Black’s eyes sharpened, and he thrust the Overlord Spear forward.
He held the shaft horizontally, in a blocking stance.
“Clang!!!”
Leonard’s dragon claw, covered in scales and carrying the force of a mountain, slammed viciously onto the shaft of the Overlord Spear!
An unimaginably immense force came through. Black felt his arms tremble, and his hands went numb.
His entire body was sent flying backward uncontrollably, his feet plowing two deep trenches in the ground.
He barely stopped after crashing through half a low wall.
Before Black could adjust, Leonard was already behind him, his powerful dragon tail whipping over!
The wind howled!
This move came too fast.
Black only had time to raise his arm to block.
But suddenly, Leonard froze, his movement slowing for a fraction of a second.
Seizing this opportunity, Black dodged to the side.
The dragon tail shattered the low wall beside him.
Immediately after, Leonard clutched his head as if he were going mad.
A pained growl came from his throat, as if something were tearing at his soul.
His eyes flickered, sometimes as black as a dragon’s pupils, sometimes returning to a brief clarity.
‘Is the human part of his consciousness struggling?’
Black’s brows furrowed tightly.
“Quick… run…”
Leonard’s voice was extremely hoarse, like a plea squeezed from the depths of hell.
But soon, darkness once again devoured his reason.
The corners of his mouth twisted upwards, revealing a savage smile.
“Run? Where to run?”
The ground exploded beneath his feet, and he charged at Black again!
Black planted his feet firmly, and the Overlord Spear shot out like an angry dragon.
Army-Breaker Thrust!
“Clang!”
The tip of the spear collided with the dragon scales, sending sparks flying.
Black’s arm was numb from the shock, and the spear almost flew out of his hand.
He had to admit, in terms of pure strength, this monster was much stronger than him!
“Too weak!”
Leonard sneered. He grabbed the spear shaft with his left claw and yanked it hard.
Black’s body went out of control and was pulled closer.
Immediately after, Leonard’s right fist, wrapped in pitch-black demonic energy, shot towards his chest!
“Thump!”
Black turned his body. The fist grazed his shoulder, numbing half of his body.
But he had no time to worry about the pain and immediately dodged back.
The next second, Leonard’s dragon leg swept past, demolishing a section of the city wall.
“Don’t… come near… me!”
Leonard suddenly clutched his head again and knelt on the ground.
His nails dug deep into his own scalp, and blood flowed down his forehead.
His voice trembled, full of despair.
“Kill me… while you can!”
Mid-Tier Oracle: Blood Prison Spear!
Seizing the opportunity, Black activated the oracle without a second thought!
Unfortunately, in just a fraction of a second, Leonard’s pupils were once again swallowed by darkness.
All his scales flared outwards, forming a defense that covered his entire body!
He withstood all the damage from the Blood Prison Spear.
“Pathetic human.”
Leonard chuckled.
“Do you think he can save you?”
Before he finished speaking, he pounced again, his dragon claws tearing through the air, aimed straight for Black’s throat!
“BOOM!”
The spear’s edge and the dragon’s claw collided again, and a shockwave exploded.
Black was thrown back several steps, his arms trembling, his hands torn and bleeding, blood dripping down the spear shaft.
Leonard only paused for a moment before closing in again.
His attacks became more and more violent, his fists raining down like a storm.
Each blow carried enough force to shatter a mountain.
Black chose to retreat continuously, avoiding the brunt of the attacks.
He was waiting for the opening after his opponent’s combo!
“Thump!”
After dozens of rounds of intense fighting.
The two could be considered evenly matched, and they had fought their way from another area all the way back to where they had started.
