Divine Realm Revelation and Fallen Humans

Chapter 20 • 1,611 words • 14 min read

Lin Shenyue stored the two pieces of equipment she obtained. Two drops from three elite monsters indicated a very high drop rate, yet the gear was for other classes, making it useless to them. Still, it would fetch a good price, especially considering that even with her incredibly high luck, she hadn’t yet acquired a full set of gear, which made her wonder how dire other players’ situations must be.

Furthermore, the three elite monsters yielded nearly 50 copper coins. This was a substantial amount in the early game; to put it in perspective, two hours spent hunting yellow cattle had only brought them less than 5 silver.

After collecting the dropped items, Lin Shenyue turned her gaze back to Ye Jue. By now, his complexion had significantly improved, but he remained seated, his head bowed in deep thought, rather than standing.

Observing Ye Jue lost in contemplation, his brows furrowed, Lin Shenyue decided not to disturb him. Instead, her eyes drifted towards the nearby cave. After defeating the three elite monsters, two diverging paths had appeared before them.

Lin Shenyue hesitated, opting not to venture alone. As a cleric, her survival capabilities were limited, making her prone to getting lost and easily overwhelmed by monsters.

Lin Shenyue casually sat down as well, pondering the course of her future life. It was clear that, for now, she could only exist within the game. However, based on her parents’ conversations, she would soon awaken in reality.

What path should she take then? A stable life, marrying someone? Or remaining single until old age? As for a lesbian relationship, she hadn’t considered it seriously. Firstly, she felt she lacked the emotional capacity, and secondly, finding such a partner was incredibly difficult. Even if she did, how would they live their lives together?

‘Marry someone?’ A thought abruptly surfaced in Lin Shenyue’s mind, only for her to vehemently shake it away. She couldn’t fathom herself being pinned beneath someone, looking shy and demure.

“Must I truly choose to be alone until old age?” Lin Shenyue murmured to herself.

“Alone until old age? What are you talking about?”

Lin Shenyue, still deep in thought, was startled by Ye Jue’s sudden interruption.

A hint of panic flickered across Lin Shenyue’s face. Unsure if Ye Jue had discerned anything, she hastily changed the subject. “It’s nothing. How are you feeling?”

Knowing Lin Shenyue wished to avoid revisiting their previous topic, Ye Jue didn’t press the issue. Instead, he spoke with a solemn tone. “I seem to have entered a peculiar state. This must be the Divine Realm.”

“Divine Realm?” Lin Shenyue questioned, her voice laced with confusion.

Ye Jue nodded. “The so-called Divine Realm is a state of extreme mental concentration, allowing for absolute control over one’s surroundings for a brief period. During this time, we are essentially invincible, capable of dodging almost all attacks except for those that are guaranteed to hit. I call it the Divine Realm.”

Ye Jue spoke with a touch of emotion, surprised he had accessed this domain so quickly. In his previous life, he could only multitask, and while he vaguely sensed this realm, he couldn’t enter it. His inability to enter had meant he was excluded from the top 20 on the power rankings.

Mastering this technique signified exceptional operational skill. Although it consumed a vast amount of mental energy in mere seconds, leading to a subsequent decline in status, this brief invincibility could turn the tide of battle, allowing him to endure an opponent’s burst phase even if he couldn’t defeat them outright.

Lin Shenyue fell silent once more. Clearly, such a technique should not be appearing on the very first day the game launched. An effect this terrifying would likely take years to achieve, yet the man before her had managed it in mere hours. A single possibility sparked in her mind.

Ye Jue, too, understood that his performance far exceeded the current level of players, making any talk of beta testing irrelevant. The woman before him clearly had some connection to the Divine Realm’s main consciousness. Had it not been for the strange familiarity he felt from her, he would never have divulged such a secret.

Lin Shenyue furrowed her brows in thought. Since she had transmigrated, could the person before her also be a transmigrator? She quickly dismissed the idea. Even if they had transmigrated, it was unlikely they would possess such an intimate knowledge of the game.

Observing Lin Shenyue’s furrowed brow, Ye Jue assumed she was pondering the technique itself. He couldn’t help but speak up. “This technique demands incredibly fast reaction speeds. If you don’t meet the conditions, you won’t be able to grasp this state, even if you understand it.”

With her train of thought interrupted, Lin Shenyue simply gave up on her musings. She looked at Ye Jue. “Why would you tell me something so important?”

Ye Jue offered a faint smile. “I trust you.”

Lin Shenyue’s heart skipped a beat as she gazed at the young man’s smile. In her previous life as a shut-in, she had never been treated with such trust. Despite her comfortable family background, she had few friends, and she often doubted if those she had were only interested in her wealth.

Now, however, this man had completely laid bare his secret before her, declaring his trust. A feeling she had never experienced before blossomed within her.

Lin Shenyue’s expression grew slightly dazed. After a moment of hesitation, she replied, “Thank you.”

Ye Jue shook his head with a smile, then looked towards the two diverging paths. “Let’s go. You can use your skills to attack monsters, but because your damage is so high, it’s easy to draw aggro, so I didn’t tell you before. Since you’ve figured it out yourself, learn to manage your threat. You can view the threat list in the combat assist menu.”

Lin Shenyue nodded in understanding. Watching Ye Jue stride towards the right cave without the slightest hesitation, she quickly followed.

As they walked, Ye Jue explained, “We’ll encounter several Fallen Humans next. They’re quite fragile themselves, but they can summon Skeleton Soldiers. While these summoned skeletons aren’t as strong as the ones we just fought, they’ll appear in much greater numbers.

“If possible, you should locate those humans and instantly kill them with your skills.”

Lin Shenyue nodded. “Understood.”

Suddenly, Ye Jue sidestepped.

A pitch-black fireball whizzed through the spot he had just occupied, striking the ground. “Careful,” Ye Jue barked. “They’re here, and there are four of them.”

Lin Shenyue peered into the dim cave ahead, unable to discern any monsters. Instead, several summoning circles appeared on the ground, from which more than a dozen Skeleton Soldiers began to crawl out.

Ye Jue let out a slight ‘tsk’ sound. He landed an attack on the foremost skeleton monster, simultaneously retreating to evade several incoming strikes. “These skeletons are all melee attackers; I can hold them off for now. You focus on finding the positions of those other monsters.”

Lin Shenyue looked into the distance, then glanced at the dim torch beside her. Her eyes lit up as she snatched the torch and flung it forward.

The monsters’ forms instantly materialized. They were figures cloaked in black robes, their specific features obscured. Lin Shenyue cast her ‘Inspect’ skill, revealing their attributes.

[Fallen Human (Elite): Level 5. Magic Attack 60-65. HP 500/500. (They have offered themselves to the darkness.)]

Lin Shenyue unleashed both of her skills directly onto one of the monsters. It instantly took nearly 350 points of damage and continued to bleed.

The target of Lin Shenyue’s attack roared in agony, its voice raspy. “A lackey of the God of Light! Everyone, kill her!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Jue’s expression subtly shifted. These monsters actually possessed self-awareness. In his previous life, he hadn’t cleared this dungeon’s prerequisite, only inferring the monster strength from the harder difficulty version.

He hadn’t anticipated that these monsters would have independent consciousness and higher intelligence, capable of directly targeting an enemy through speech. Such foes were the most challenging to deal with, and he was astonished to encounter them at merely Level 5.

“Fall back, and stop attacking for now!” Ye Jue shouted urgently. “These monsters aren’t fast; just kite them backward!”

Ye Jue maneuvered around the numerous Skeleton Soldiers, observing three black-robed figures pursuing Lin Shenyue—one of whom was already dying from the continuous damage of her healing spell. He swiftly struck one of the black-robed figures with his sword, dealing “-37” damage. This near-maximum damage indicated the monster’s physical defense was quite low.

Lin Shenyue watched the black-robed figures chase her, completely ignoring Ye Jue’s attacks, and felt a touch of helplessness. Her aggro seemed far too high. She hastily ran backward, her speed roughly matching the monsters’, meaning they could barely keep up with her.

Ye Jue was left somewhat speechless. The aggro was incredibly stable this time, fortunately, the monsters weren’t particularly fast. Ye Jue unleashed various skills on one of the monsters, killing it in just thirty seconds. Even then, he couldn’t pull the aggro away.

The remaining two monsters were relentlessly battered by Ye Jue. After he felled another, Lin Shenyue turned back and unleashed all her skills on the last remaining monster, successfully killing it. The moment the black-robed monster died, its summoned Skeleton Soldiers instantly disintegrated into piles of white bones on the ground.

Lin Shenyue stopped running, caught her breath, and began to loot the corpses. As these were magic-type monsters, they dropped several cloth armor pieces. However, with the exception of one off-hand item, all were for male classes. Lin Shenyue could only reluctantly collect all the equipment.
