Chapter 20: The Beginning of the Legend

Wild was in awe.

It was truly a play only a legend could show.

And he acknowledged it.

The old legend had returned.

─”Your voice has changed so much, I thought you were someone else. You really are a legend, huh?”

“Brother.”

-“H?”

“No, call me brother. Don’t you remember the bet?”

And that legend was a bit cruel.

<ᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄀ>

<Trying to pretend there was no bet, but you were caught red-handed!>

<Stop right there! Are you trying to pull a fast one?!>

<Tinker pick, and losing. Tinker pick, and losing. Tinker pick, and losing.>

<Wow! How pathetic!>

<2nd time losing just like last time. 2nd time losing just like last time.>

<How does someone’s name become 222JunJunJun ᄏᄏᄏᄏ>

<What’s this? Trying to act all warm and fuzzy now? ᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏᄏ>

•Legendary brother.”

“Yeah, little bro.”

“Did you really have the confidence to get the first kill?”

“Well, as long as my skills don’t miss.”

─”It must have been harder to aim because of the turrets. Did you have a protractor in your eyes?”

Tinker’s turrets have collision detection, which can block non-piercing skills.

And when the Illusionist fights 1v1, they take a trait that increases damage by 30% instead of making Q skills non-piercing.

Wild’s Tinker was cleverly hiding between the turrets, so it must have been harder to land a skill shot.

But Legendary seemed to naturally land both magic missiles of the Illusionist’s skill.

‘Not taking Flash thinking I’d hide between the turrets was the mistake.’

The spell Wild picked was Ignite for sustained damage and Exhaust to reduce the opponent’s damage.

Both of these spells have insane efficiency in 1v1 arena fights.

But who would’ve thought Legendary’s Flash would be able to outplay those spells by “closing the gap”?

It was a perfect misjudgment.

A pleasant misjudgment.

‘It really was just a hair’s breadth difference.’

If there had been any mistake, or if the hands were even just a little slower…

Wild’s spell—Exhaust—would have surely been used.

The problem was that by the time he used it, all of Legendary’s skills had already hit.

The Illusionist’s Flash distance was longer than the range of Exhaust, so there was no way around it.

But if the opponent had been just a tiny bit slower, if they’d used even 0.1 seconds to aim their skill…

It would have been the Illusionist falling first, with reduced damage.

It was truly a hair’s breadth difference.

It was a stunt only Legendary could pull off, not even using 0.1 seconds to aim through the turrets.

You’d need to be absolutely sure that your shot would hit.

It was truly superhuman.

‘Is he going pro? I think he will.’

Not every great player becomes a pro.

But Legendary’s talent was too bright to ignore.

Like with Victory, Wild couldn’t help but dream of seeing him play in pro matches.

His heart raced.

“Well, now that the ranking’s settled, shall we go for max level?”

<Ohh>

<Finally>

<Isn’t it too much for even Wild to be destroying in casual games?>

<How long has it been since we were matched with Diamond and Master players?>

<Does that mean the Diamond and Master players are still getting massacred?>

<It’s pretty harsh to face two pro-level players>

<What’s the value of hitting level 30 in a casual game with zero losses? ᄍᄍ>

<Who cares about value? We’re just playing for fun on a game broadcast>

<You’re just mad because you can’t do it ᄏᄏ>

<You should turn off your stream and go study something useful>

<20>

<Should we ban the trolls?>

“Stop feeding the troll with attention.”

“If you’re jealous, do it yourself.”

“How could you even imitate this? ᄏᄏ”

“If it were possible to imitate, you’d be a streamer, not a troll.”

For a moment, one very angry troll visited, but when public opinion wasn’t swayed at all, they disappeared.

There’s nothing more meaningless than asking gamers why they play games.

They just play because it’s fun.

Thus began the casual game adventure.

A modest challenge to reach level 30 without losing.

…………… A challenge no one had yet achieved.

<It’s different though>

<Shout it out! Legendary! Legendary!>

<Wild is also doing well>

<Master tier players are so pitiful, sigh>

<If you can’t play the game, you should lose ᄏᄏ>

<The opponent’s bomb-thrower and magic swordsman were Grandmasters>

<When did the opponent’s tier go up again?>

<Bring five Challengers!!!>

<Waiter! One serving of Legendary hype here!>

<Game crusher duo ᄃᄃ>

With excellent teammates, it didn’t seem difficult.

Legendary was very satisfied with the assistant he brought today.

As he thought, there was a huge difference between having someone to rely on and relying only on yourself.

First of all, the game time became much shorter, which was incredibly good.

“Another surrender?”

In the team fight arena, where special events occur at 25 minutes, there are almost no games that last over 30 minutes.

However, conversely, games that end within 20 minutes are also rare.

Instead, surrenders can occasionally occur as early as 10 minutes.

Every game Legendary played with Wild ended in under 20 minutes, and about half of them ended in surrender by 10 minutes.

When Legendary was playing solo in casual games, the score was usually close, so surrenders rarely happened.

In fact, it was a blessing that there wasn’t a forced surrender event where Legendary opposed it, and the other four supported it.

Surrender votes are triggered when four out of five players agree.

If that had happened, the challenge for max level without losing wouldn’t have even started.

Anyway.

The average game time, which used to be over 25 minutes, was now reduced to between 10 and 15 minutes.

With game time cut almost in half, this meant that the time to reach max level would be significantly reduced.

For Legendary, who was eager to dive into ranked games, this was fantastic news.

“Wild and I were enemies from the beginning. There was this Legendary Clan and Winner Clan. The reason it started…”

The viewers had surpassed 3,000.

While it may feel like a drop in the ocean compared to Victory’s 50,000 viewers,

for a newbie on only day two of broadcasting, this number was quite overwhelming.

Most of them were probably there to watch Wild, but still, it was undeniable that many were getting captivated by Legendary’s charm.

Feeling a bit better, Legendary shared stories about getting closer to Wild, as the viewers wanted.

“At first, there was me and Victory in the Legendary Clan. But no matter which clan we faced, we crushed them all. For things to be fun, there has to be some balance, but we shattered everything, so it got boring.”

<C>

<Legendary and Victory on the same team? Just imagining it makes my heart race>

<It really feels like the beginning of a true legend>

<When will Wild appear?>

<The storyteller of Metaldak ᄃᄃ>

“Why is this story so full of romance? So cool”

“There was an era of romance.”

“It feels like a story about a venture company that started in an American garage.”

“So, does this manga end with Legendary and Victory facing each other in the world championship?”

“Well, Victory and I split up. Then, I gathered as many skilled players as I could and formed another clan. I became the Legendary Clan leader, and Victory became the Winner Clan leader. We balanced things out by dividing the teams.”

<The battle between the legend and the winner>

“Why does the nickname, clan name, and even the story have so much romance?”

“Don’t be fooled. Those guys are weebs who are obsessed with magical girls.”

“???: I’m into big breasts, and they’re into small ones.”

“I don’t know about being a weeb, but they’re definitely cool.”

“Once we split up, I finally felt like playing the game. Wild was a member of the Winner Clan. Victory brought him along.”

“Magical Fight was fun, though.”

“Did you hear that? Everyone, magical fighters are the real deal. You should start playing right away.”

“Hey, hey, hey! Don’t promote other games or I’ll get in trouble!”

“Today, I’m still the older brother, okay?”

“Older brother, or whatever, Teamfight Arena is way more fun. Don’t be fooled by these frauds.”

“You traitor! Do you love money that much?”

“Yeah, totally. I like it way more now.”

“Money addict, haha.”

“Wow, how much further are you going to degrade yourself?”

“Using money duplication bugs now vs. the romantic past? It’s obvious, right?”

“That’s a stretch.”

“Romance needs to be poor to be romantic.”

“Those who ate romance are now starving to death.”

“Life is real.”

“So, when is Legend’s pro debut? That’s when it’ll happen.”

“When that happens, I’ll probably regret it. Every moment right now is legendary.”

“Legendary at being a legend.”

“How about changing your nickname to ‘Current Legend’ instead of ‘Pre-Legend’?”

“Why did the name change from ‘Legend’ to ‘Pre-Legend’?”

“Legend is too common, and someone else was using ‘Legend’. So, it just happened like this. Oh, I got caught.”

Everything was going smoothly.

It was going better than expected, so it was a bit surprising.

But when the next game was finished with another quick win,

A message appeared on Pre-Legend’s broadcast screen.

[Unfair game use restriction]

[Game use restricted: 90 days]

“???”

“No wonder, you were doing so well—was it hacks?”

“Got caught, haha.”

“Romance? More like a hacker.”

“Did he really play like a machine, or was he actually a machine?”

The first thing that came to mind was the hack controversy.

“If it’s a hack, wouldn’t it say ‘illegal program use’?”

“Just watching the screen transitions, it feels like they’re from a completely different race…”

“Did he get banned for massacring too many Maducks?”

But there were already some things shown, and it seemed different from the typical hack bans.

“I know what that is, it’s a proxy ban.”

“Proxy?”

“How do you know about proxy bans, Namgoong-hyung?”

Then, the chat spread information that this was a proxy ban message.

“?? A newbie is proxying for someone?”

“A proxy cleaner?”

“So, you were pretending to be a newbie to go pro, huh? Haha.”

“Failed at cleaning your identity!”

“It doesn’t make sense that a player with this skill was anonymous for 3 years. Haha, probably a bigshot in the proxy world trying to change his identity to go pro.”

“Stop pretending to be clueless, it’s disgusting.”

“How did Infinity catch that?”

“Good job, Infinity.”

People thought.

That Pre-Legend, the proxy, got caught.

Trying to change his identity to go pro, but bam! He got caught.
