I am the Hero.
Clutching the short sword in my hand, a wave of panic washed over me.
There’s no time to explain the situation! If you want to know what happened, just turn back a page!
“Watch out!” Helter shoved me aside.
At that moment, a boar-man wielding a heavy hammer charged forward. Its immense frame was formidable, towering even over Helter, who stood more than two meters tall!
The swing of its massive hammer created a powerful gust of wind, indicating the sheer force behind it.
Helter, with a swift movement, brought his greatsword across, miraculously deflecting the blow! A resounding bang echoed, and Helter reacted instantly. “Combat Skill—Flash Step.”
Wow! I couldn’t even discern how he had suddenly moved behind that enormous boar!
This skill bore an uncanny resemblance to the legendary “Soru” from One Piece… Wait, who is One Piece? My tongue must be broken again!
“Guilty!” The boar-man spun around, fixing Helter with a menacing glare. Its blood-red pupils were truly terrifying.
“Such a massive boar, it must be worth at least 300 gold!”
To be precise, 300 gold was an understatement. This was, after all, a bipedal, talking boar. If a biologist were to encounter it, it could easily fetch a fortune—300 diamonds wouldn’t be out of the question!
(1 Diamond = 100 Gold, 1 Gold = 100 Silver)
“Combat Skill—Wild Flurry!”
The greatsword in Helter’s hands moved with the speed and agility of a dagger. In the past, I would never have been able to perceive his movements.
It was only thanks to my newly adapted Hero physique that I realized Helter’s sword could strike at least once per second—and twice when moving at top speed! What a joke! This was a greatsword, a weapon of immense weight!
Five seconds later, the boar was dismembered, its fresh blood splattering all over Helter.
Its heart, liver, small intestines, large intestines… everything had burst forth!
A wave of nausea threatened to overwhelm me, but I managed to suppress it.
“Whew, its hide was quite thick. I almost didn’t cut through it. Can’t underestimate these creatures.”
After butchering the boar, he even feigned humility, as if showing off. Hey! I’m the protagonist here! You’re stealing all my thunder!
“Oink! Oink!”
Two more boar-men, armed with long spears, swiftly circumvented Helter and charged directly at me!
Hey, hey, hey! Are you seriously going for the weakest target? To think they’d commit such an inhumane act! Oh, wait… they’re not human.
“Guilty!” The smaller boar-man immediately lunged, thrusting its spear.
Believing it was aiming for my head, I frantically twisted my own, only to hear a sickening crack. Damn it, I’d wrenched my neck!
As it turned out, the idiotic boar had actually aimed for my chest armor…
The larger boar-man, following close behind, intended to seize the opportunity and launch a double-team combo attack with its companion!
However, Helter caught it off guard.
“Combat Skill—Charging Slash!”
A flash of white light streaked through the air. The boar-man collapsed, transforming into a lifeless corpse as its blood-red eyes slowly dulled.
‘So cool…’ I murmured involuntarily. ‘If only I possessed such combat skills and swordsmanship! Then I could show off too, couldn’t I?’
“Look out!” Helter warned me.
The smaller boar-man was already preparing for a second thrust!
With a loud snap, I immediately twisted my wrenched neck back into place.
Yet, this very action had inadvertently created an opening for the boar to attack!
‘Oh no, oh no! This time, it was truly aiming for my face! If the Hero’s face were disfigured, I’d never forgive this dead pig!’
With a swift swish, I drew and sheathed my sword in one fluid motion, and then the boar’s head hit the ground…
The blood gushing from its neck was truly… Argh, I was going to lose my mind!
“Ugh!” Witnessing the gory scene, all the nausea I had suppressed finally erupted in a violent retch!
“So fast! That single strike had at least the speed of a master swordsman!” Helter exclaimed, utterly astonished.
“Helter… please, focus on what’s important. Ugh, I’m nauseous…”
“Hold on, let’s take a quick break!” Helter raised a hand, signaling to the Judge Boar-man.
The Judge Boar-man, wearing a perplexed expression, slowly uttered the words “Temporary Ceasefire.” Immediately, all the boar-men ceased their rampage, their eyes reverting to their natural black.
“Why are you feeling nauseous?” Helter asked, approaching to pat my back.
“Such a bloody scene, such a disgusting smell… Ugh!” I felt as though I was about to vomit up last night’s dinner! Wait… I didn’t eat dinner yesterday… I felt as though I was about to vomit up yesterday’s lunch!
“Just let it all out. You’ll feel better once you do.”
“Ugh—no… it’s still unbearable. Just thinking about all those organs and blood…” I felt tears welling up, completely obscuring my vision.
“Don’t think about the organs and blood. Think about something happy and fun instead.”
“Happy? Oh, I remember not long ago, the Village Chief hosted a huge hotpot festival. I put so many things into the hotpot: pork heart, pork liver, pork intestines, pig blood, and… ugh—”
This attempt at distraction was utterly useless! I still couldn’t help but dwell on the disgusting imagery.
A little while later…
“Are you alright now?” Helter gently rubbed my back.
“I’m fine now. I’m almost used to it…”
“That’s great then! Let’s continue the fight!”
“Yes! Let’s continue!”
I looked up to see the boar-men curiously observing Helter and me. A hint of bewildered innocence shone in their deep black eyes, some even gnawing on their fingers.
“What are you staring at? Haven’t you ever seen a beautiful girl throw up before?”
I declared myself a beautiful girl without a shred of shame! After all, this was merely a compliment to the Hero herself…
“Judge! We can continue!” Helter drew his greatsword once more.
“Bring it on!” I, too, gripped my short sword firmly.
Seeing this, the boar-men collectively recoiled, resuming their previous savage demeanor.
“Guilty! Guilty!”
Ultimately, these boar-men were nothing more than paper tigers. So what if they walked upright? So what if they wielded weapons? They were still just foolish pigs whose heads I could sever! Bring it on! I’m not afraid in the slightest now! I could take on ten of them!
With a whoosh, a long spear embedded itself right in front of me…
“Hm?” I gazed at the vibrating spear with confusion for a prolonged moment, before slowly raising my head.
“DEATH SENTENCE!!!!” The Judge Boar-man roared again, and the boar-men’s eyes once more filled with crimson.
“Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!” They all raised their spears in unison!
‘A ominous premonition washed over me! If close combat was out, then surely…’
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Spears rained down like a sudden downpour!
Holy crap!
“Helter!” I instinctively shielded my face, calling out to him.
A series of clang! clang! clang! sounds reached my ears as the spears were deflected.
“Nicely done!”
I admired Helter’s dashing back, assuming he had successfully parried every single spear.
“Not pretty at all…” Helter coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“What’s wrong?!”
“Just walk around to my front and you’ll see…”
Oh, my goodness… It was true that he had deflected a few spears, but now at least five spears were embedded in his chest. While none had pierced through completely, they had inflicted considerable damage…
“This shouldn’t be happening! With your sword speed, you should have been able to…”
“The snake venom… hasn’t fully healed…” Helter finished, coughing up more blood.
“No way! Is the snake venom affecting your performance?!”
“Yes, with so many spears, my eyes just can’t keep up…”
“What are we going to do?! You’re the main fighter! If you fall, I won’t be able to slack off anymore!”
“Heh! Don’t forget, we still have our ultimate move! Quickly, use Holy Light to dispel them, Hero!” Helter half-crouched, leaning on his greatsword for support.
“Do you think I don’t want to?! You know my memory is terrible! Spells and such, I forget them right after I cast them once!”
Helter slapped his forehead, looking somewhat distraught. “Oh no…”
“Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!”
The 360-degree, enveloping chorus of voices… made me feel increasingly terrified with every repetition.
At that moment, the Judge Boar-man looked at us, its lips quivering slightly as it broke into a sinister, eerie smile…
