Sword Spirit

Chapter 2011,382 words12 min read

Sunfire Blast!

Jianye raised the Moon-Guide Staff high above her head, and its tip burst with a red light that was impossible to look at directly.

The surrounding fire elements gathered at an unprecedented, frantic pace.

The moisture in the air evaporated, and the soil beneath her feet began to char.

Light, heat, and sound were all swallowed by the point of light at the tip of her staff.

Within a second.

A glowing white sphere, about a meter in diameter, formed at the tip of her staff.

“Go!”

With a clear shout from Jianye, she swung her staff towards the dark area in front of her.

The glowing white sphere flew out rapidly and smashed into a dark corner, the general direction from which the arrows had come.

“Rumble!”

A loud explosion sounded, and shattered rock flew!

The firelight illuminated that area, making it as bright as day for a moment!

A blurry black figure flashed in the firelight and then disappeared.

‘Found you!’

A sharp light flashed in Black’s eyes, and he seized this fleeting opportunity.

His figure shot out, Demon-Cleaver in hand, and he closed the distance in an instant.

They were less than twenty meters apart. A few more steps and Black could activate an oracle.

However, the archer’s attack speed was far beyond his imagination.

“Swish!”

In the blink of an eye, a volley of arrows was fired from completely different angles, flying in all sorts of strange arcs.

One arrow flew close to the ground, aimed straight for Black’s ankle.

Another descended from the sky, coming for his throat.

The other arrows were no different.

They were clearly meant to block his path forward.

Black pushed his Flow state and movement skills to the limit.

He dodged and weaved within a small space, the Demon-Cleaver dancing to create an impenetrable defense.

Golden sword light constantly clashed with the arrows.

Each block made the space between his thumb and forefinger split open, his arms ache, and the blood in his body churn.

An ordinary archer, once approached, would have their combat effectiveness greatly reduced.

Unfortunately, the level gap between Black and this person was too large. Even a single basic attack from the opponent was hard for him to handle.

Seeing this, Jianye, from the rear, cast several high-tier spells.

“Hurricane Slash!”

The upper-tier version of the Wind Blade spell.

Dozens of semi-cyan wind blades whistled out, slashing at the flying arrows.

With a clatter, she blocked a dozen or so arrows, buying Black precious space to dodge.

“Rock Barrier!”

An earthen wall suddenly rose from the ground, completely sealing off the archer’s retreat path!

“Ice Mist!”

Another high-tier spell.

The cold mist combined with the moisture in the air, quickly forming a hazy area of ice mist in the center of the battlefield.

It successfully interfered with the archer’s line of sight.

With the support of three consecutive high-tier spells, Black finally closed in on the archer!

“Heaven-Cleaving Art!”

He immediately used the Swordsman’s Mid-Tier Oracle!

A huge golden sword aura slashed out!

But just then, the archer faintly uttered two words.

“Substitution.”

Hearing these two words, Black’s expression changed.

The next second, the black-clothed archer vanished, replaced by a… wooden barrel!

The sword aura directly cut the wooden barrel, along with the wall behind it, in half.

“Damn it!”

Black cursed through gritted teeth.

One of the archer’s most unique exclusive skills was Substitution.

This skill could swap the positions of a non-living object and the user within a certain range.

If used well, it could definitely be a life-saver!

The only drawback was that the cooldown time was a bit long.

“BOOM!”

Another arrow, containing explosive power, was shot at Black’s feet, blasting open a shallow crater. The shockwave sent him staggering.

He and Jianye both looked to the other side at the same time.

The archer in the black cloak and mask had already appeared dozens of meters away.

He looked at them coldly.

“This person is probably Over-Tier.”

Jianye walked to Black’s side, her eyebrows tightly furrowed.

“How did you provoke a character like this?”

“…”

Black was speechless. If he had a choice, he wouldn’t want to provoke an Over-Tier archer either.

Jianye was silent, her black hair flying in the night wind. She suddenly spoke.

“Buy me ten seconds.”

Black didn’t waste words and nodded.

He knew what Jianye was planning to do.

Jianye floated back a few steps, held the Moon-Guide Staff vertically in front of her chest, and closed her eyes.

An exceptionally vast fluctuation of magical power began to ripple from her body.

Seeing this, the black-clothed archer had already drawn his bow, preparing to interrupt Jianye’s casting.

In front of an Over-Tier archer, going on the offensive to buy ten seconds was not an option.

“Speaking of which, I don’t think I’ve ever tried using the Demon-Cleaver as a staff.”

Black said, taking a deep breath, and poured his magical power into the Demon-Cleaver.

His idea was simple: he planned to use all his defensive and interference spells to stall for time.

However, after pouring in some magical power, Black suddenly found that the Demon-Cleaver was automatically absorbing his magic.

The absorption speed was very fast, like an abyss.

By the time he reacted, more than half had been sucked away!

And then.

“Clang!”

An incomparably clear sword cry suddenly burst from the Demon-Cleaver!

On the body of the sword, the originally brilliant golden light turned inward, transforming into a deeper, dark gold.

Profound runes lit up from the hilt, spreading across the entire blade!

A vast and awe-inspiring will suddenly erupted from the sword!

“This is…”

‘The sword spirit has awakened?!’

Black was greatly shaken.

He found that a telepathic connection had formed between him and the Demon-Cleaver.

Similar to the one he had with the Emperor Wyvern before.

He could vaguely sense a battle intent coming from the sword.

“Voom!”

Perhaps sensing its master’s thoughts.

The Demon-Cleaver suddenly flew out of Black’s hand!

The body of the sword trembled, emitting an excited hum.

The tip of the sword automatically turned, locking onto the black-clothed archer dozens of meters away.

The dark golden sword body drew a trajectory in the night sky.

With an unstoppable and resolute momentum, it automatically shot towards the archer!

Its speed was far greater than Black’s.

First and second second!

“Swoosh!”

In the blink of an eye, the Demon-Cleaver was already in front of the archer!

For the first time, astonishment appeared in the archer’s eyes.

But he reacted extremely quickly, the bowstring vibrating.

An arrow was shot accurately, colliding head-on with the tip of the Demon-Cleaver!

“Clang!”

A muffled explosion sounded, and energy surged.

The Demon-Cleaver was sent flying sideways, its dark golden light dimming.

Third and fourth second!

However, the sword body just hummed and trembled once, then stabilized again.

As if enraged, its light became even more brilliant.

It no longer charged head-on but began to circle the archer at high speed, constantly looking for an angle to attack.

It forced the archer to move his feet and adjust his position.

He was unable to aim at Jianye in the distance.

Fifth and sixth second!

The archer’s eyes turned cold, and his fingers flicked continuously.

Three arrows in a “品” formation blocked all of the Demon-Cleaver’s paths of advance.

But the sword body displayed an astonishing combat reaction.

It slammed its body directly into the arrows, using the violent collision.

It used the force to its advantage and, with even greater speed, stabbed towards the archer’s face!

The archer was forced into an extreme backbend. The blade grazed past his mask, creating a trail of sparks.

Seventh and eighth second!

The archer was clearly angered. While retreating rapidly, he drew his bow towards the sky, and energy gathered on the bowstring.

“Arrow Rain!”

Countless energy arrows descended like rain.

The Demon-Cleaver let out a high-pitched sword cry. Without dodging or evading, its body spun like a wheel.

The dark golden light formed an impenetrable curtain of swords!

“Ding ding ding ding!”

The dense sound of collisions was like a sudden downpour on banana leaves!

Countless arrows were deflected, and light scattered everywhere.

Although the sword’s light dimmed rapidly, it had actually managed to withstand this wave of arrow rain.
