Chapter 21: Caution

Exposure equals defense.

“Back in my day, women wore chainmail to protect themselves from goblin paralysis needles.” It was common sense to wear something over your body for safety. Women, who were weaker than men on average, had to wrap themselves up tighter to survive.

“The end of the world, the end of the world.” If there was someone from 500 years ago who was still alive today, I might be able to relate to him immensely.

“Don’t you think so, Lucius?”

“I don’t know.”

“What if you don’t know? Lucius, think carefully. You’re sleeping while lighting a bonfire. But how would you feel if the women next to you were sleeping in their underwear, claiming to receive the divine power of the Goddess of the Moon?”

“I guess that’s just how it is.”

“……” Lucius was serious. That’s why it was even more absurd.

“Are you a man?”

“…Master. That’s not what I’m saying, is it?”

“That’s not what I’m saying. If there’s a really beautiful and pretty woman next to you wearing only underwear, don’t you get all worked up inside?”

“A pretty woman is pretty in her own way.” Lucius shook his head with a firm face. “I’m a man, so I might have those thoughts. But that’s just my instinct as a man, and I would never sneak a peek or look at her with malicious thoughts.”

“Depending on the person, it could be different, right?”

“I’m a human too, so isn’t that natural?” He seemed upset.

“Who? A childhood friend? Or a saint?”

“Droniel is just a friend. SaintYanDierre was just someone who treated me kindly.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Huh, are you saying that they both have feelings for me?”

“Really? Or not?”

“….” Lucius’s expression hardened. Depending on how he answers here, we’ll be able to know exactly what kind of personality he has.

“There’s no way. It’s impossible for someone as pretty as the saint to fall for me, or for Droniel to like me.”

“Why?”

“Why would someone so pretty like someone like me?”

“….?” Is this kid a new kind of deception?

“I’m just an ordinary village youth. I’m just an ordinary-looking, ordinary guy.”

“Hmm….” He has quite low self-esteem. I imagined the situations he might have experienced while growing up in the village.

“You weren’t able to get along well with friends since you were little, were you?”

“Friends.” Lucius’s expression darkened even more.

“I’m not sure about friends. I was always alone in the village, and Nertio and the other guys always ostracized me.”

Ah.

“They always teased me, saying, ‘It’s because I’m ugly.’ Droniel would comfort me, but they would bully me when Droniel wasn’t around.”

“You didn’t plan on using force?”

“Even if we win, their leader is the village chief’s son. Unless you’re prepared to leave the village…”

Fighting is pointless. Lucius had easily accepted the unreasonable actions of his environment since he was young.

“Still, thanks to you, Master, I gained confidence. With my strength, I have the confidence that I can be of help to the world.”

“So…” It’s a little sad. If he had come from a good family environment, or if he had been born into a noble family and grown up as a noble, he would have been a famous playboy in high society, dating one noble lady a week. It was so pitiful that he grew up in a rural village like this without even knowing what kind of man he was. Honestly, if I were him, I would have gone straight to the city, gotten a job as a butler for a noble family, and seduced a noble lady to become a viscount right away…

“Ugh.” I sighed sincerely.

“What good are you if you’re handsome and in good shape? I feel so………..”

“….” Lucius froze. The sudden uproar made me tense up too, wondering if the Holy Sword had an enemy that it could react to.

An enemy of the Holy Sword that I can’t detect? No way. If the Holy Sword senses danger, then I should sense danger too.

If that doesn’t work, I’m too weak right now…

“Master. Can you say it one more time?”

“What?”

“You’re handsome.”

“You little punk.” As expected, men are men.

“Do you really like being called handsome?” I tried to brush away my surprised chest and kicked Lucius’s shin.

“You don’t like it? You should have just said it once, what else are you trying to hear?”

“Just follow me in, you idiot!”

I opened the door to the Adventurer’s Guild, leaving Lucius standing there dumbly behind. The prelude to revenge for Zepar would begin in this small Adventurer’s Guild.

The receptionist for the Normans Adventurer’s Guild, HoraMorzen, quickly scanned the woman who opened the door and came in.

“She’s a wizard. The somewhat monotonous, colorless combination. Unlike adventurers, her upper body was tightly wrapped in clothing, but a wizard could easily do that. The power that a magician needs is not the divine power of the Goddess Manaji. I’m nervous, but my lower body passes.”

What an adventurer absolutely needs is to prepare for danger, that is, safety. Rather than wrapping your body in armor, it’s better to wear bikini armor, maintain your agility, and gain defense from the power of the gods, and on average, you’ll survive more.

Covering your stomach…

“I understand.”

Morzen lowered her head. Then she put her hand on her chest and nodded heavily.

“You’re not at fault. Yes, Morzen is not at fault. If there’s a fault, it’s only the fault of the magician who hides that vicious weapon inside his body.”

“What brings you here?”

But Morzen is a pro. Having started working as a receptionist at the Adventurer’s Guild before she even became an adult, she’s met countless people and learned how to deal with others in a businesslike manner without showing her emotions recklessly.

So….

Mumble. Morzen unconsciously turned her gaze back at the commotion she heard behind her.

Why are you making such a fuss when a diamond-rank adventurer hasn’t even appeared?

‘His face is diane.’

The blond man who opened the door and came in was handsome. The man with a sharp expression, as if he was wary of his surroundings, silently approached the reception desk.

“Ah, that…”

“Master.”

“What’s that voice?”

Morzen unconsciously clenched his fists. Morzen’s mouth slowly began to water at the low voice that tickled his ears.

“By the way, Master?”

“Oh, right. You’re at a good time. Excuse me, this guy is trying to register as an adventurer.”

“Uh, an adventurer?”

“Yes. A total rookie, a newbie.”

“Ah…”

Morzen quickly looked back and forth between the two to figure out the situation. The red-haired witch and the blond young man. Judging from the fact that she called him Master, the witch must have come to register the young man as an adventurer.

“Uh, you have to fill out a separate form for the adventurer registration process, right? Would you like to come this way?”

Usually, those who register as adventurers for the first time just fill out the form on the spot and leave it at that. But if we just leave these two men and women standing there, the guild will be in chaos with the adventurers chattering behind them.

“This is the room inside.”

It was a private reception room for adventurers above gold rank, but everyone would understand Morzen. If the guild master came, he would kick Morzen out and personally proceed with the adventurer registration process.

“No.”

A ray of light suddenly appeared in this miserable guild member’s life. Morzen brought the two inside to enjoy the man’s face more, no, to maintain order in the guild.

“Um…”

The witch sat down on the chair, timidly. She was pulling on her skirt with her hand, feeling extremely uncomfortable, and Morzen found her behavior incredibly funny.

‘If you’re going to be embarrassed wearing underwear, why are you wearing a skirt? You should just take everything off.’

Morzen thought to herself.

That must be…

“Master, here it is.”

“Thank you.”

As expected!

The man took off his white coat and handed it to the woman. There was no need to take off her coat, but she took it off for him, and the witch used it to cover her thighs.

‘You damn witch.’

It was clear that she was trying to write history in a dark place at night while calling her master. Morzen felt sick, but she tried to keep a smile on her face and handed the man her adventurer registration form.

“You know that you start at Bronze regardless of skill, right?”

“Bronze?”

“Bronze rank. Promotions are evaluated based on commissions and performance.”

‘Don’t you know that?’

She tried to swallow her words. The moment she confronted the witch, the man would also be punished.

“Really. Should I register too?”

“Master?”

“Why? It’d be fun if we both started at Bronze. The pay would be doubled if we both did it.”

“T-That’s right….”

“You laughed!”

The man laughed, scratching his cheek. Morzen bit his lip at the sight of the man who had been so cold just a moment ago acting like an innocent puppy.

“Then can I register as an adventurer and immediately receive bronze quests?”

“Yes. You might be disappointed because they’re all simple quests regardless of your skill level, but there are still procedures for the guild.”

“Procedures, right?”

“But Master, Bronze…”

“I like it, Lucius.”

The witch patted the man, Lucius, on the shoulder and smiled.

“There’s nothing right now, but can’t we fill it up together, one by one?”

“…”

“You and me. Let’s go up together. What do you think?”

“Yes, Master.”

Morzen left a small note in the remarks column of the witch’s adventurer registration form.

Caution, requested.
